- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -11/+473LEAVE TPB ALONE!!!!!
- PleaseJustDie, on 01/31/2008, -0/+372FTA: "For those who are interested, all the legal documents the police collected in the upcoming case can now be bought form the Swedish police for only $1000."
I would love to see those legal documents show up on TPB for download... - bonjourmr, on 04/25/2008, -6/+278They've got the entire internet supporting them, good luck lads.
- Yatti420, on 01/31/2008, -7/+175The Pirate Bay Will Live Forever!
- axopro, on 01/31/2008, -11/+157***** the RIAA
- leerayIG88, on 01/31/2008, -5/+145*A ninja appears in court and kills the judge*
"Everybody gets one." - Shambla, on 01/31/2008, -0/+138At 98.7%..seed plz
- AvangionQ, on 01/31/2008, -5/+141"In an few hours from now The Pirate Bay team will probably be charged with aiding or facilitating copyright infringement. If they are found guilty, they could receive sentences of up to 2 years in prison, but the site will remain online, no matter what." ... the scope of this case is twofold -- primarily, that international corporations such as the IFPI and the RIAA are attempting to put pressure on national sovereignty of liberal Democratic European nations should be seen an affront to those nations ... secondly, this also means that Democratic governments have to understand that the internet is global and that their laws, when applied to the internet, have to factor in that any attempt to regulate the internet will cause a backlash of resurgence within their online populace and a greater backlash within the global online community -- this makes any such attempt a counterproductive effort for any politician who wants reelection ... all logic aside, it should be interesting to see how things turn out ...
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -6/+122Even if they shut it down (which would be very hard) its spirit will live on, just like Napster before it whored itself out.
- peticsu, on 01/31/2008, -5/+110sharing is caring
- natedouglas, on 01/31/2008, -1/+95Eh... I miss Demonoid.
- MWeather, on 01/31/2008, -2/+78Uh, it's 2 heads, not a larger head. Read a book.
- natedouglas, on 01/31/2008, -0/+68Untrue. There has been a loose alliance since 2003, when both were threatened by gunslingers.
- Xephyr, on 01/31/2008, -4/+67Yet the entire internet can't do *****, we can all just pretend we know stuff about law. :)
- NTolerance, on 01/31/2008, -0/+57"It also came to our attention that it's now possible to buy the documents, from the police!, in the current investigation about The Pirate Bay. But only on paper. And it's not 4000 pages, it 4620 pages. And they cost 6050 SEK for all of them (about 1000 USD). Our view of it? Why not just make a PDF, make a torrent of the PDF and seed it. We know a perfect place you can do that for free, and nobody would have to pay for all those pages of investigation. And a hell of a lot of trees would be saved... And even though the information in the investigation might be a bit personal at times (alcohol intake, sex addictions) we're not suing the police for commercially exploiting the material they took from us without permission."
http://thepiratebay.org/blog.php - killthemoles, on 01/31/2008, -10/+67That's silly. Everybody knows that ninjas are pirates biggest enemies. For all we know, the RIAA could consist of nothing but ninjas!
- justbanter, on 01/31/2008, -2/+52not a big deal, swedish prisons are like american country clubs
good times for TPB - theprez, on 01/31/2008, -2/+44Not to be an ass, but the Piratebay pretty much sucks. Demonoid's search and organizing system was awesome. What makes the Piratebay so great is how they stand up for the internet sharing community (pirates! arrrr!)
- spintzdee, on 01/31/2008, -4/+45yeah, after this we will see "Pirate Bay - Unlimited Downloads Only $29.99 per month. Plus, Join now and get free 128 MB Creative MP3 Player."
- Dested, on 01/31/2008, -5/+41If someone is making millions off of letting me use trillian for free, or watch the new superman without leaving my house, than so be it.
- drizzlelicious, on 01/31/2008, -0/+31A ninja appears? You mean, a ninja disappears, without even appearing in the first place, and before you know it, everybody in the room gets their throats slit. And then a epic battle takes place yet again between the ninjas and the pirates, which somehow survived.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -0/+31well upload the torrent so i can r3ead the damn thing.
- DreKor, on 01/31/2008, -4/+35Well, no. If you haven't been online since 1999, I can understand why you would think that. The media you download via torrents is not the same that you can buy for 99 cents (I assume you're talking about iTunes here). You are able to find more formats that are higher quality and which are DRM free through torrents. Also, you're able to find things that are not available to purchase in the US, or wherever you're from. I point to obscure anime and foreign films as an example. You can also find media that is not yet available to the public. You can find copies of movies that are still in theaters or tracks from currently unreleased albums. I'll be honest, lots of things I download, I wouldn't pay for. And that's because those things suck. Paying for things you don't want sounds pretty stupid to me, and to a lot of people. However, there's no way to tell if you like something without trying it first. You don't buy a car before test driving it, so why would you buy a CD without listening to it first?
- vofuse, on 01/31/2008, -0/+30Yeah, no way the prosecutors would've come up with those ideas on their own.
- Thomaschaaf, on 01/31/2008, -1/+31Can someone up the files.. I don't want to spend 1k for information which should be available for free...
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -6/+34RIAA and IFPI are like agents protecting matrix which doesn't exist, sooner or later the user power will over come neo.
- vade79, on 01/31/2008, -2/+29Napster was shutdown....THEN whored itself out.
- noddyxoi, on 01/31/2008, -3/+29TPB are the XXI century heroes. They are the ones that by standing for the ideal of sharing are doing more to revolutionize the status quo than everyone else. Keep it up pirates !!!!
- glacius99, on 01/31/2008, -3/+29Ron Paul has the entire internet supporting him.. Umm, wait..
- NyQuilPillz, on 01/31/2008, -0/+25HAHA!
that would be funny - briansearles, on 01/31/2008, -0/+25$10 says they're located in a RIAA server farm.
- Eshestun, on 01/31/2008, -3/+28Arrrrrrrrr!!!!!
- Simpson5774, on 01/31/2008, -18/+42You can cut one head off the Hydra, but another one, larger than before, takes its place.
- iticu, on 01/31/2008, -1/+24Yea, but the leaders of pirate bay are absolutely epic.
- paulzov, on 01/31/2008, -1/+24Y'arr! We've got your backs!
- penguinxp, on 01/31/2008, -2/+24actually mine only cost $.55, or you could straight up trade me for a soda so i dont have to make a trip to the vending machine.
- briansearles, on 01/31/2008, -0/+22If by "whored itself out" you actually mean "sued into submission," well then, yes.
- DreKor, on 01/31/2008, -1/+22Well, it's a fairly effective defense against raiding the servers. If they don't know where they are, they can't tell anyone either. So, the servers remain safely anonymous.
- orangefly, on 01/31/2008, -0/+20there's plenty of pirates in the sea....
- Chaulis, on 01/31/2008, -6/+23Yes, I and others like me would find a way.
- swoopdog, on 01/31/2008, -1/+18What about PureTnA? :nervously looks around:
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -10/+27Piratebay FTW!
- Ryosen, on 01/31/2008, -0/+16@optimus, please be careful with your comments. You had poor NyQuillPillz in such a frothing rage that the poor lad couldn't even type out a coherent sentence, much less click the spell check button.
- banmaster, on 01/31/2008, -0/+16All that means is that the initial page you visit is there, not that the rest of the site is anywhere even close.
- falafelkiosken, on 01/31/2008, -1/+17Hey, they always say the prisoners' food costs more than students' food, and after 12 years in Swedish school I actually believe that...
- Azimuth1, on 01/31/2008, -0/+16Yeah, a comment thread on Digg is the first place they would've gone to for prosecution ideas.
- Theisos, on 01/31/2008, -0/+16Demonoid was great. I liked it even more than Pirate Bay. What's a good substitute for Demonoid?
- greenlight2001, on 01/31/2008, -5/+19"It must feel good knowing your ethics can be bought for 99 cents"
Ummm.. if someone was paying me 99 cents to download songs then that would make sense. - NyQuilPillz, on 01/31/2008, -1/+15they will figure a way around it.. even if they go to jail and the site does get shut down.. they will bring it back with a way around the law that is created just like they did when they had there servers raided.. they figured out a way around the problem.
