- Trifold, on 11/13/2009, -2/+33.11% of the Internet still uses Myspace? Are there really that many sex offenders and terrible bands on the Internet?
- DjOverEZ, on 11/13/2009, -0/+31Find me a band comprised of sex offenders and we have a deal.
I don't know what the deal is, but I had to figure out a sentence to fit around my joke. - joculator, on 11/13/2009, -1/+32I spend all day on Carpathia Hosting...all the kids are doin' it.
- ToastedFart, on 11/13/2009, -0/+28I have to admit, megaupload consistantly has the fastest streaming movies and shows.
- strictnein, on 11/13/2009, -1/+27That's pretty impressive that you got the Google Toolbar installed in 1997, since they didn't have it then.
- joaob, on 11/13/2009, -0/+13Oh ya? I cancelled my AOL account in 1977.
- homercles337, on 11/13/2009, -2/+13*****? /facepalm...
- chadpryor, on 11/13/2009, -2/+12He is Vigo the Carpathian! You are like the buzzing of flies to him!
- mnortei, on 11/13/2009, -2/+11Altavista was the first search engine we were introduced to in grade. 5 in 1998. Now I ONLY use google (for non-academic searches).
- catalysis, on 11/13/2009, -0/+8Once I used the Ask Jeeves toolbar, I knew I would never need another search engine again.
- xedd, on 11/13/2009, -1/+8I never could figure out why anyone would prefer rapidshare.
- drex8, on 11/13/2009, -1/+7It's better than rapidshare. Rapidshare is rapidly vanishing.
- birch25, on 11/13/2009, -1/+7Google Scholar should be your friend :)
- jarjarwang, on 11/13/2009, -1/+6I just registered getcarpathiahosting.us -- This is going to be so sweet!
- jessemoya, on 11/13/2009, -1/+5All that piracy and it's what percentage of the bandwidth? From what the MAFIAA is telling me I though it'd be, like, 80% of the internet. Isn't that what McCain's anti-Net Neutrality bill all about?
- jjremy, on 11/13/2009, -1/+5It's mostly for porn.
- Surferess, on 11/12/2009, -15/+19Once google got that search toolbar installed on my computer back in 1997 or so, I never went back to any other search engine. It was too easy to use that. Forget about any other search engines.
- darkNiGHTS, on 11/13/2009, -0/+4No *****? Some people don't want to pay an extra $10 a month and would rather have a better free service.
- DonAlfred, on 11/13/2009, -0/+4free porn and free movies. What more could you ask for? No wonder they got massive traffic.
But there sure is better ways to watch streaming movies online in a much better quality. But i'm not into that. I pay for everything. Even porn. - dualaudi, on 11/13/2009, -1/+5There's nothing else like Carpathia Hosting.. If you haven't been there, I don't want to know you.
- ccasas, on 11/13/2009, -0/+3I have a premium account in megavideo and I am very pleased paying 5 dollars a month for a service that major broadcasting companies cannot offer me, and that is unlimited access to all my favorite shows via sites like sidereel.com where I can watch every single episode from their first season to their last linking itself to megaupload and not having country restrictions like hulu has.
If there was a legit way of doing this I would happily pay a montlhy suscription fee, but there isn't, and for now, the same story will continue, and the only one making money will be Megavideo. - OGla, on 11/13/2009, -1/+4Carpathia is my new homey.
- dark2025, on 11/13/2009, -1/+4Google Scholar is fantastic for books and journal articles. It's the only place I go to to look for resources for my university papers now.
- achansen121, on 11/13/2009, -1/+4Sure, bandwidth-wise.. That's like saying a truck is heavier than a bicycle.
- Surferess, on 11/13/2009, -3/+6You are correct. My error. I was kind of approximating/guessing that date & didn't actually look it up. Regardless of the actual date, my point was, once the toolbar search box thing was installed, that was the end of the competition.
- ThorAx, on 11/13/2009, -0/+3dugg for the graph at the end of the article
- dark2025, on 11/13/2009, -1/+4Rapidshare links for stuff is easier to find in my opinion (maybe I'm using the wrong sources for my links?). That's why I use it. From experience I think I would rather use MegaUpload though. MU is pretty friendly to free users too, which I find to be a plus.
- darkNiGHTS, on 11/13/2009, -0/+3I wish. It is very slowly becoming less popular, but there are so many files out there on rapidshare, so people buy premium accounts for it and then start only using rapidshare. And the rewards system is better.
- chuckDontSurf, on 11/13/2009, -0/+3I came here only for this comment.
- evanft, on 11/13/2009, -3/+5Megaupload is also the go-to upload site for 360 and Wii games now because MU doesn't impose any daily download limits. IIRC, Rapidshare's limit is something like 5-10 GB per day. Since 360 games are usually 6-7 GB, that can be a real bummer.
- orbz, on 11/13/2009, -0/+2Yes.
- jserio, on 11/13/2009, -0/+2I wonder how MegaUpload compares to RapidShare with regard to bandwidth usage.
- kizkiz, on 11/14/2009, -0/+2All those still using Google Scholar should take a look at ISI Web of Knowledge. Ten times better.
- Jones82, on 11/13/2009, -1/+3Minus the Pedobear
- tokomini, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1Don't buy the 60$ membership that the article mentions, it's shady business.
- qbthemc, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1ROFL
- BrennaElise, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1What are you going to use the site for?
- dabura, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1IDM + NO DELAY FF ADDONS = WHAT 72 MINUTE LIMIT?
- darkNiGHTS, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1Megaupload does have download limits, once you download a certain amount (1GB or less), they lock you out for 120 minutes.
- kkthxbye, on 11/13/2009, -1/+1Private torrent sites, if you have the upload speed for it. Otherwise Rapidshare.
- cesclaveria, on 11/13/2009, -1/+1kyle... you are trolling right?
yes a direct download from a server with enough bandwidth is great, but a well seeded torrent has no match on the filesharing arena. - frisk415, on 11/14/2009, -1/+1word
- drex8, on 11/13/2009, -1/+1So what are the better options? Usenet? torrent? private torrent sites?
- frisk415, on 11/14/2009, -1/+1I have to admit I laughed when it talked about Megaupload and Megavideo. I definitely ***** with both of them.
- 51684, on 11/14/2009, -1/+1Nothing compares to RapidShare with a premium account
- saucy05, on 11/14/2009, -1/+1Who needs hulu, when you have mega video. For those of you who are looking for a way around the 72 minute limit without a membership fee. http://www.illimitux.net/
And for those of you who are looking for a well indexed mega video files go to http://www.ninjavideo.net/ - TWallaceWD, on 11/13/2009, -2/+1Don't all browsers have a search bar that lets you use any search engine? I don't understand why having Google in your search bar would make you only use that search engine. In FF, I have Google, eBay, YouTube and Bing search engines in the search bar. I used to have a Craigslist one but FF 3.5 broke that and I haven't found a replacement yet.
- mheyk, on 11/13/2009, -1/+0http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carpathian_Mountains yea its big
- evanft, on 11/18/2009, -1/+0I was talking about a premium account, duh.
- UberNick, on 11/13/2009, -4/+3I thought Bing was preferred for, eh hrm... "non academic" searches
