I'm British and I just find it ...dumb; the main woman always does this 'silly' voice when she's 'angry', the irish guy falls over when he's trying to look 'smart', the computer 'jokes' don't even make sense.
The humour is BASIC at best, just another terrible British sitcom, in my opinion at least.
Why watch this when there is so much great UK comedy ie The Office, Alan Partridge, Extras (in parts) not to mention the classics such as Faulty Towers, Monty Python et al, which modern shows such as this can only hope to emulate!
Don't mean to put a dampener on the people that enjoy it, we all have different tastes, that's just my outlook on it! - Kamatz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is already a "British Friends" I think it was called Coupling.

Usenet of course; torrents suck. - sargant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Unamusing rubbish.
Chris Morris really has lost the spark, from the true satirical genius of Brass Eye now doing stereotyped comedies with canned laughter. All the subtelty and depth has been spanged out with an idiot spanner.
In the spectrum of British comedies, this one will sink without a trace. - ephekt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for reminding me about this show, but I'd rather not deal with the slow speeds of bittorrent. I'll just grab them off Usenet.
- gamngeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So is anyone going to have episode 3 for download for us that is outside of the UK area. Since channel 4 will not let us download.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome.
"We're sorry, but users outside the UK cannot access The IT Crowd."
Are there any mirrors for episode 3? - hiro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I watched this when it aired and I thought it was ok but I'm surprised by the over-the-top enthusiasm on here. I'm also surprised that Yanks are getting it, our humour isn't often understood over the water
"There is definitely no doubt that this pales in comparison with Peep Show , Black Books & Father Ted though."
So true - atariby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Episode 3 has not been released yet the website has been updated, but there is no video file there, it wont be until friday!
- Sizzor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This gets a Digg just for the t-shirts they wear. They should tone down the laugh-track.
http://www.sizzor.net - decades, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This had so much potential, but it really is terrible. The woman does a crazy voice for no reason, the Irish guy is always trying to stop laughing and Moss (played by Richard, who in 'Nathan Barley' was hilarious). The worst part is that they've got 'canned laughter' in it. What on earth is the point?
Worth watching for the sheer hell of it once, but no more that that... - niceguyuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ep.3 torrent (with DRM removed) coming soon....
- mikeporter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0another great episode
- netdigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0episode 3 is out, but not available outside of the UK
- starvingarvin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sigh...I HATE the laughter. it just adds so much cheese. I might actually laugh at some of this if it was gone.
- stimpack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I find it quite comical that everyone is doing the same kind of shaky camera, audience-free sitcom just because it's in vogue."
What a ***** he is then. Simple fact is most people exhibit sheep-like behaviour and tend to laugh when the laughter track is on. If your mind is above these simplistic levels a laughter track DISTRACTS you, ***** annoying. - dj_sea2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0stop moaning about the laugh track! it has a laugh track because - like most british comedy - it was recorded in front of a live audience. its not like its the fake pre-sampled crap that you get in some american comedy.
- dj_sea2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Canned Laughter means a pre-recorded laughter track added *after* filming, the laughs in The IT Crowd are actually a live studio audience."
im quoting this because its true. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh come on, it is pretty good. You need to give these UK comedy series a few episodes to settle characters then its all about the character humour.
Moss is great "Why are you giving me the secret signal to shut up?"
Yes it is a but juvenile but its got Chris Morris for christ-sakes (exclamation mark, exclamation mark) - Badfysh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's an interesting story in The Guardian about why they did the show this way:
"Its writer and director Graham Linehan, of Father Ted fame, revels gleefully in this wanton disregard for the conventions of contemporary comedy. "I find it quite comical that everyone is doing the same kind of shaky camera, audience-free sitcom just because it's in vogue."
http://media.guardian.co.uk/mediaguardian/story/0,,1697654,00.html - jonathanex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Episode two is brilliant - come on, the phone number, fire extinquisher, stress machine, and the screensaver!
Stand upright... well now I can't read it. - kungfustickman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That was actually really funny. Notice how one of the guys was playing fear?
- H011yJ3susB411s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great show :}
- Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty funny show...It does have some dull parts, but altogether it is fairly good.
- ewingsquadron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The laugh track kills the show.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone else notice how they've got EFF stickers all over the place ;)
- JakeMcMahon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The channel 4 announcer also annoyed me calling it 'the it crowd'"
That's what it's called. Ever heard of the word 'pun'? - DMCau, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A mirror:

Episode 2: http://www.filecloud.com/files/file.php?file_id=2860 - csansbury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+06 episodes made...only the first two have aired yet...even then only three days ago. Chill! Be patient.
- durnekell2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, IMDB says there was 6 episodes made. looks like I have 4 more to find, this is a good show
- phuqju, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great show..
though it is called IT Crowd, there is very little IT related issues.
but more like what the IT dept. is like in a Europe business environment.
very low budget..
but it makes me laugh... - 12Volts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought it was pretty good and will certainly stay watching. The canned laughter track was annoying at the beginning but I soon forgot about it. Perhaps it doesn't suit the american sense of humour. Lucky there's a Family Guy.

These are the ones to get; widescreen digital rips. Forget those crappy wmvs. - plasticated, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Your kidding right? Titty Bang Bang is awful. In fact, at the moment british comedy is really lacking. This feeling is backed up by the news that even though they will broadcast this IT Crowd crap, Channel 4 are not commissioning a new series of Peep Show. At the moment we are really missing some decent comedy. Where are the replacements for genius like Alan Partridge, Brass Eye, Spaced, Black Books, Father Ted. Even Nick Frost from Spaced couldn't save that new Dr Who like series 'Hyperdrive' they are showing on BBC. Series 2 of Green Wing is coming in March - wonder if that will be any good...
- JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OMFGLMFAO!!!
If Channel 4 Stops vidcasting this, I'll actually buy a TV licence... even though I'm in the US.
This is F'n awesome!
I like the part with godzilla and Jen :-P maybe it's just cuz I know what most of those words mean in british terms - Dash-2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is actually a GOOD uk show! yay!
- Demian.Max, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0God, very much a substandard show. The acting is pretty damn awful but by far the worst part is the laugh track.
The most I.T. part of the show is the vast amount of astroturfing they're doing on digg and slashdot and a couple other blogs. I'd bet any amount of money that the person who posted this story and the majority of the positive comments here are from people working for the show. - ericmoritz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought the show is great I sent a half a dozen emails telling people about it.
- burningheretic6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This show pawns I love it
- spectre_25gt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow... I know that all of the characters in the show are exaggerated, but I can't believe how bad they actually made the IT guys. Is this still how the world sees us?
- timtop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This show is soooo good. i love this stuff ahhaha.
- behemothaur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Too many ***** naysayers - I pissed myself and I spent years in 1st & 2nd level support. Great stuff. If more people had positive thiungs to say rather than picking bitchy holes because they don't mention ***** ruby on rails then the world, and Digg - would be a better place.
- shadowmoses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0downloading now should be good never caught it on friday night, but its supposed to be a laugh...
