- SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1interesting, although it gets kind of annoying when you look at the windows section and every single picture has some sort of "see? i told you microsoft was evil and should be hated" comment underneath it. we get it, you dont like MS paintbrush. let it slide.

- NikonGeek, on 05/22/2008, -0/+0A great collection of GUIs. Incredible how the fundamental design hasn't changed much over the years.
- joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0GeoWorks Rocks! i still have it running on my old 286.
It blew away Windows 3.1 runnning on a 386.
My 286 is still a very usuable machine for old DOS stuff and playing Tetris :) - Battlecry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used GEOS back in the day... I was in like third grade at the time so I mostly used the paint program, but still... :)

http://www.getyourowntots.com - antiwmac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0screenshots there are extremely old
- BoDKirok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WOW - I remember laying my hands on a computer for the first time. It was an Apple Classic, black and white 9" screen. I used it because all the other geeks in the computer lab had taken up all the "green text on black screen" PC's (what a boring desktop environment!). Once I discovered that I could draw on the Mac (I think it was Mac Paint) I was hooked! This story brought tears to my eyes.
- rsilva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Amiga OS 3.5 includes an html v3 capable web browser called AwebII. It has the very advanced feature of being optional - a feature so advanced that Microsoft has as of yet been unable to completely replicate it."
lol, that was funny - izeisler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Finally, for whatever reason when Apple started using OPENSTEP as the basis for their new version of MacOS they maintained a PC version for some time. After Rhapsody DR 2, however PC support was dropped."
We now know this was all lies. - GregMote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is the link to my favorite page on the site: http://toastytech.com/guis/desk.html

- kaybee5225, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This site is great!
And I love the 'loser' parts about Anti-IE.
Thanks hdaddy! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh My God. I remember thee again. I forgot about thee, oh great Deskmate.
- Lynxpro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Its lacking in the Atari ST department. They should've made a separate link to GEM/TOS for the ST on the main menu instead of hiding it in the GEM selection.
They only go up to TOS 2.06 but the GEM desktop changed quite a bit with the later editions as well as the edition for the Atari Falcon.
There's also no pics of the popular alternative desktops that were on the ST platform such as NeoDesk...
I know...nitpicks... - mmccurdy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's another resource... looks like it has similar content, but I find this one a bit more pleasing to browse around: http://www.guidebookgallery.org/
- NeoTechni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wtf, wrong topic.
- voicimas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why does everyone hate Microsoft BOB? I first saw it when I was 10 at the 1995 launch event in Toronto. I'd never seen windows 95 before so it all looked so great and the GUI of BOB allowed me to have so much fun. Granted, I was 10, but I think that's the age Microsoft was going for.
Oh, and the pinball game made me giddy with glee. - Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ublievable. Did Hdaddy completly ignore the, "Duplicate URLs have been found within the last 365 days!", message?
- tobsterius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I miss BeOS. Such a cool little operating system..
- EarthBoundX5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WTF, THIS SITE HAS BEEN POSTED ON DIGG ALMOST EVERY OTHER ***** WEEK
- reggiedarden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I guess timing is everything because the other times this link was posted those didn't even get more than 20 diggs.
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That was supposed to be "unbelievable", but you get the idea.
- bem1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1hdaddy - you suck monkey balls
- kcghost, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I had found this site a long time ago, I love this site. Every part of the site just kicks ass. Especially the GUI gallery. I would recommend checking out his DOOM wad and skipping to the last level. BILL AGTES IS THE DEVIL! AWESOME! digg++
- MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0damn apple for stealing from xerox. FOR SHAME!
