- ortucis, on 06/09/2008, -1/+13What I want to know is that why the ***** did they discontinue Imageready for ***** Fireworks crap (which has no integration with Photoshop like Imageready.. among other things) and wtf are they doing to the Director. Stop molesting your products with ***** logos and start improving them.
I like the new UI though.. - uptown, on 06/09/2008, -2/+12I think the bigger target on Adobe's back is the acquisition target. As AOL used to say .... more and more, "Adobe is the internet" for a lot of people. It would be a powerful acquisition if Apple or Google were to bring them in-house.
- chris9902, on 06/09/2008, -3/+12I hope they don't pull an Apple and just leave things unpatched because they can't be bothered to fix it.
http://digg.com/tech_news/Ah_the_Irony_Microsoft_s ... - Shadowgamers, on 06/09/2008, -1/+7I didn't know Foxit could make flash files :V
- Trendecide, on 06/09/2008, -0/+4Why was imageready discontinued? It was a slap-in product to Photoshop in answer to Macromedia's Fireworks and Photoshop was intended for (get this... I know its hard to grasp) PHOTOS! Illustrator was better suited for web imagery than Photoshop ever was. You've clearly never used Fireworks which is far superior to Photoshop for rapid web graphic development (not photos and print which is where Photoshop is untouched and far superior). Don't use a hammer to saw a piece of wood... use the right tool for the job.
- Kyrgizion, on 06/09/2008, -1/+5I hardly notice the difference lately.
- directrix13, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2Your opinion about how well security/bugs are maintained should never be based on how many products a company makes. If they have an excessive amount of bugs and they aren't addressing them, then they are cheating you and should devote more effort to bug fixing. Instead of soaking in more money from their other buggy products.
- xero69, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2Great... now that flash based video is so commonplace online it's only a matter of time before some asshat releases a viral video with a built-in rootkit
>:-( - benologist, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2It'd be a great aquisition but a hugely expensive one, their market cap is just over of $20 billion*.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=adbe
* Someone correct me if I'm wrong but market cap is the value of the company? - directrix13, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2Outlook isn't "web accessible" either. You either have server exploits which work by presenting data (requests) to servers that take advantage of some known bugs in processing its input, or you have app exploits which work by opening data (files, websites, etc.) that take advantage of some known bugs in processing its input. Same thing.
- caban, on 06/09/2008, -1/+3That's a great alternative to Flash/Flex and Acrobat!
Try reading the article next time...the bullseye is not on the Photoshop executable nor psd's or jpg's. - theWaterboy, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2ImageReady was integrated into Photoshop CS3. The functionality is there.
- cgoff, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2Doesn't Microsoft have that (or more than that) in cash?
- mahenda, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Well I was reading that, well a little bit in a hurry, but I thought it's about Adobe applications in general, since Photoshop is really widespread too...
- FutureGuy, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1I think Adobe will get serious about its security issues, so far they had no competition, now MS is all over it, competition is good.
- rudy23, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1It does a great job at web presentations and multi media. Not to mention video streaming.
Stuff which is either too difficult to program or too slow on java. - ortucis, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Fireworks is so superior that simple rollover states functionality isn't present at all. If you have used Imageready then you know that you can pretty much create a slice based site (yeah you can do it in Fireworks) with rollover images faster than you can say "Macromedia died but left Fireworks behind".
Right now Fireworks cs3 is an abomination, even ***** than it was before, somehow. Hopefully, CS4 will have imageready like system in place in Fireworks, but killing IMRdy was still a pretty dumb move. - misterpinchy, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Fireworks can create rollover states. Take a closer look.
- cre8tivate, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1I've been using Fireworks as a professional web dev/designer since beta 1 (circa 1998). As a professional, I use Fireworks nearly every day for web work. I use Photoshop/Illustrator for print work. Rather than completely relying on one software tool to meet all of my design needs (which many photoshop users do), I'm always on the lookout for new tools that will improve my workflow, reliability, and most importantly, the ease of updating projects in the future. Fireworks vector-based graphics system provides all the necessary tools to easily keep sites updated with changed graphics (although I have to admit the innovation in the last several releases has been disappointing).
- p0tent1al, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Apple + Adobe would dominate.
Google + Adobe....would be very, VERY interesting. - Jan33, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1@ cr3ative - ooh we wuz dugg down for posting something semirelevant..
pfff
screw the rest of u diggheads - ortucis, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1You can't create rollover states for items on the page, the best feature of Imageready. I can create slices in Dreamweaver itself, don't need anything else for all that.
- SamuelHenderson, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1Yeah, I thought it was mildly funny. =P
- estvir, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1http://searchwindowssecurity.techtarget.com/news/a ...
- cr3ative, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1Interesting that it's by the Worth1000 people. Could be worth its salt!
- inactive, on 06/09/2008, -0/+0wtf is Allaire?
- widgetmaker, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1You're being dugg down now though.
- zeeky, on 06/09/2008, -2/+2I don't get it. My adobe apps aren't web accessible, so how the hell is a hacker going to exploit them?
Just Flash, that's all? - dixhuit, on 09/03/2008, -1/+1Fireworks rules for website mockup and early development. You should take a closer look.
- FutureGuy, on 06/09/2008, -2/+1MS has been pretty good with patching especially considering the number of products they need to support.
- ortucis, on 06/09/2008, -3/+2Not to mention the fact that it has ***** interface and lacks features present in Acrobat.. and Acrobat now doesn't take ages to open up. The only thing that makes Foxit better is the small size, that's it.
- ihavebeenseen, on 06/09/2008, -2/+1Allaire FTW!
- llewner, on 06/09/2008, -6/+5I hope Adobe crashes and burns. Their over-priced, over-marketed, over-used crap needs to die. Viva La Hackers!
- benologist, on 06/09/2008, -3/+2Of course they are and of course it will grow, they have multiple applications virtually synonymous with computers regardless of operating system. The more people a hacker can attempt to exploit the more people he can probably exploit and the more money he can make.
- yukeake, on 06/09/2008, -2/+1What incentive does Adobe have to improve its products anymore? What competition is there?
Macromedia was the closest thing they ever had to competition - and it kept them (somewhat) honest. Since the acquisition, there's been little impetus for Adobe to do a damn thing to improve anything but the bottom line.
IMHO, of course =) - aautopsy, on 06/09/2008, -3/+1Yeah, I agree, adobe makes some pretty mediocre products. I never quite understood why flash was such a standard for web content. If anything I guess its a little faster than java. Its still pretty weak though.
- producerism, on 06/09/2008, -2/+0Need I mention Director?
- srg13, on 06/09/2008, -4/+1People use ImageReady and Fireworks?
- rz8472, on 06/09/2008, -8/+4As flawed as Acrobat is, at least it's not proprietary. That would be a Microsoft.
- S1ngular1ty1, on 06/09/2008, -5/+1Hax by China.
- mahenda, on 06/09/2008, -7/+2Anybody worried about this might consider other alternatives for smaller projects like free GIMP or almost Photoshop clone called Pixel - http://www.pixelimageeditor.com
- gamerzfuse, on 06/09/2008, -6/+1Well then.. *cracks knuckles*
I'm up for the challenge. - CriticalImpacta, on 06/09/2008, -7/+2What so I get dug up for a stupid comment, DAMNIT DIGG, THIS ISN'T 4CHAN
- Shadowgamers, on 06/09/2008, -12/+7We can hope they won't pull a Microsoft, and just leave these things unpatched for months, maybe years.
- Jan33, on 06/09/2008, -8/+3Im definitely signing up for this - it almost blows CS3 right out of the water and its browserbased
http://a.viary.com/ - eqlou, on 06/09/2008, -13/+6can't understand why you would use acrobat when foxit is times faster
