too bad no story on comcast limiting traffic and subsequent FCC ruling - issaccheriyathu, on 12/30/2008, -0/+25I'd say Microsoft should have continued with the Seinfeld ads. At least it could have gotten to some coherence in terms of ending. Pulling it in the middle shows you have no idea what you are doing.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 12/30/2008, -0/+17Another stupid moment: splitting up article across multiple pages.
- Jade10145, on 12/30/2008, -2/+8Here's one...Article broken into three ***** pages that could of easily fit just one.
- Reddog_x2000, on 12/31/2008, -0/+5"Truth be told, the new Facebook looks cleaner and more usable now than it did before. Clearly Facebook intends to be more about communication between members, and not so much about accessorizing a personal profile page with messy and browser crashing trinkets à la MySpace."
I joined Facebook shortly after it's redesign, so I can't comment on what it was like prior to that. But, I was on Myspace for a few months prior to joining Facebook. And, Facebook quickly became my preferred social networking site for the reasons stated above. I'm primarily there to communicate with my friends. Facebook's clean, interface simply presents the information I need & gets out of the way. Myspace is a very different animal. In some cases, people do put up tasteful, even beautiful profile pages. But, more often, I find myself the victim of bad web design as people simply throw a bunch of random crap up on their page. And, of course, there's the profile music that often starts up automatically when someone accesses a page. In some cases, I feel like I've walked into a Spencer's gifts shop. Now, sometimes, that's not a bad thing. Sometimes, I enjoy the energy and chaos. But, at 41, I usually find it distracting. I generally prefer the more orderly approach of Facebook. But, both have their place. - GalOnDigg, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5I don't get the 'feedback' joke on the Wikipedia Love Story.
- MisterPoppy, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3To save future readers the trouble:

Direct link to the single page version. PC World's "Print" button may be its best feature. - inactive, on 12/30/2008, -1/+4Microsoft should have fired their entire marketing dept about 15 years ago. I'm a pretty big Microsoft fan, but their ads are a joke. Even their employees think so.
- cowboy86, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3 Wow PCworld, no need to trash talk Neiman Marcus.
- massproductions, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2They forgot Nintendo's entire E3 press conference.
Cammie Dunaway my ass... - Atario, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2Hell, I was grateful they didn't split each *paragraph* onto its own page, and with no "printer friendly" link either. That's how low my expectations have gone.
- diggdatt, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2yes, and I buried it as spam too.
- timch, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2It's spelled CUIL (or with 2 L's if you used it before it went public).
Last year Microsoft relaunched Live Search with a new look and algorithm and there were rumors that it would overtake Google in the search market. And the year before that Ask.com dropped Jeeves from their equation. - diemunkiesdie, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2Another year, Another "Google Killer"? What was last years "Google Killer"? I've only heard of one "Google Killer" and it (Culi) sucked. I've never heard of another site with some amazing search technology that they think can beat Google!
- Balanced, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1I thoguht the 'Look what you can do with MS" campaign was a reasonably good campaign concept, if not particularly 'flashy.'
- mrfreeziexp, on 12/30/2008, -4/+5Anyone else close the tab as soon as you saw it was broken into 3 pages?

- GeezerD, on 12/30/2008, -3/+4Here's the biggest, stupidest moment in 2008 tech: Steve Ballmer keeps his job.
- mrBitch, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1RE: "I'm a pretty big Microsoft fan, but their ads are a joke. Even their employees think so."
While Microsoft's choices in adverts are not really a "stupid moment in tech for 2008", I did think one of the comments on the page was quite interesting RE Microsoft's 300 million dollar "I'm a PC" ad campaign :
" BradJ says:
300 million is 5000 programmers working for $60k
Imagine what they could have accomplished with that kind of money!" - automagem, on 01/12/2009, -0/+0In response to the Seinfeld ads, the Apple commercial where PC has the 2 stacks of money and then ends up "putting all the money into advertising" is hilarious. It does seem that Microsoft would rather push Vista than fix it...
- Balanced, on 12/30/2008, -2/+2Nope. I'm not so frail that clicking the mouse a three extra times is going to cause bones to shatter or muscle strain.
- Vancent, on 12/30/2008, -5/+3Most stupid*
