- siobhankeogh, on 09/27/2008, -4/+26i like the part where the person hacked a system.

Good, now that's out of the way.
On topic:
I really don't find the article very interesting. It isn't very well written, and the stories aren't all that fascinating or "mysterious". - hasahugedig, on 09/27/2008, -1/+10What? No Nigerian bank accounts?
- inactive, on 09/27/2008, -0/+9To me, these are just unsolved. The only mysterious one is the "Supermarket Security Breach" where they couldn't figure out how it happened.
- ardew, on 09/27/2008, -1/+10No Max Headroom TV hack?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=tWdgAMYjYSs - norman619, on 09/27/2008, -0/+8The military source code case is hilarious. You don't keep stuff like that on a system accessible from an outside network. My last job was network admin for an automobile manufacturer. We kept all important information on a system which was off the network. It's amazing to me that hey military didn't do that with the source code.
- Rhythmicidea, on 09/27/2008, -2/+9They left out the hackers who got into the LHC
- cpsutcliffe, on 09/27/2008, -0/+5He got caught. These are crimes that were unsolved.
- MadDoggie, on 09/27/2008, -0/+4That supermarket one caused me a lot of headache. My credit card company automatically canceled my card and a bunch of automatic payments I had set up bounced. Took many hours of frustrating phone calls to get all the charges dropped. At least Hannaford provided a year of credit watch for free, but it's no where near the hassle the whole situation caused.
- specialK16, on 09/27/2008, -0/+4No,
None of the two important time lines (T1-T2-T3 and T1-T2-TSCC) say exactly when is Skynet created. We do know that Judgment day is set to happen on August 29th 1997, postponed until 2004 (T3) or until 2011 (TSCC).
By 2029 more than half the human race is already wiped out and the rest are being assraped by terminators. Also, I believe it is in 2029 that the resistance actually breaks through Skynet's defense grid. It is then that Skynet sends the first T800 to kill Sarah Connor, and Kyle Reese is sent back to protect Sarah. They mate and John Connor is born (effectively creating a *****, or a time-loop paradox). They actually create Skynet from the remainders of that first T800, thus creating another *****.
Learn your facts! - tehbishop, on 09/27/2008, -0/+3I'm pretty sure that even if they found who hacked the satellite they would just erase them and say "nope, never did find out who did that".
- sabach, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2Agreed, it deserves at least an honorable mention.
- Incognito, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2Angelina Jolie "You're Zero Cool?"
- yosserhughes, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2Thanks for the heads-up, time travel really screws with my mind. Sometimes I think I'm not living in 2003 at all and am really in 2008 and all between is just imagination.
- caseycoold, on 09/27/2008, -2/+3*Obligatory reply about IEPro having the same effect*
and I like the part where MoD Skynet was hacked...O.o - Merp08, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1that ***** was crazy...
- hazello, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1I'm sure the ones we don't know about (and possibly never will) really blow these the hell away.
- simpleid, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Nothing to see here, keep moving.
- cabdirazzaq, on 09/27/2008, -2/+3I blame Frohike, Byers and Langly!
- Borgcube, on 09/27/2008, -4/+5Two pages!?
- 250Billion, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1At least everything worked out for you.
- takatoo, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1how about Sam?
- ref-d, on 09/27/2008, -1/+2No Gibson, no digg.
- hazello, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Is it really mysterious, though? Probably someone on the inside.
Not wireless? My conclusion: they used a wired connection.
Scotland Yard, let me know about my job application. - TechMike, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1I can neither confirm nor deny.
- JohnnySoftware, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Oh, sure - hackers taking DHTML _off_ a site - that will be the day. Don't hold your breath.
Besides, advertising is how they pay for the some of the costs of the web site.
Would be nice if they could make the ads less obtrusive and perhaps more helpful. - glenSM, on 09/27/2008, -1/+1I watched that, that was freaky lol I would like to know the story behind it. But we would never knew because he wasnt caught :( Fair play to him lol
- yosserhughes, on 09/27/2008, -3/+3So Skynet was created in 1989, I thought it was 2029.
- bben46, on 09/27/2008, -3/+2The truly successful hacks are the ones we don't know about.
- theOster, on 09/27/2008, -2/+1what about the M DNS server?
- griffinpsalm, on 09/28/2008, -1/+0Interesting information, not being especially hacker savvy this was all news to me. I do have to point out though that this top ten list includes three cyber crimes that took place this year. More mysterious than the crimes themselves, I consider it extremely perplexing how a person making this list up couldn't have picked three more crimes from a prior year. Come on, the years got three months to finish out before the cases could even have hopes of an anniversary. My point is that though these crimes may be mysterious, there hasn't been enough time to include them on the list yet. Not yet. But that's just my opinion. I still enjoyed learning about them none-the-less, just for the heck of knowing. Thanks for adding this to digg.
- vat0r, on 09/27/2008, -3/+1No Mitnick?
- inactive, on 09/27/2008, -13/+5I did the WANK worm. Sorry, my bad!
