- sixthplanet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+99The article is interesting but the headline is way more entertaining.
- ramong, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30I don't know about you, but after reading the heading I imagined 41% of facebook users "flashing the goods" in front of the webcam.
- pirotess, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16In other news, 100% of visitors visiting Disneyland expose themselves to strangers.
- theungeek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Study shows 41% of people on the Internet are really stupid; scientists shocked by low number.
- Error601, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Dug up for the double entendre..
- mercurysquad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13pics or it didnt happen
- FloppyLlamaDigg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Dugg to increase exposure.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11So let's assume that 50% of people on Facebook are women... 20.5% of Facebook is filled with women exposing themselves to strangers! Damn, I really need to spend more time on there...
- FRANKeB, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12I don't get it. Why do I always get arrested when exposing myself to strangers? Should I bring a laptop with me next time? Maybe an iPhone?
- reflex768, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I stand in awe of your title talent TS. They'll probably boot me for blind digging it before reading it. But it was worth it.
- thinkingserious, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I can not take credit for the title. The guys over at Information Week came up with that gem.
- vertigoblue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9your soul...
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -0/+9In other news...Another test shows that 85% of Myspace users expose themselves to users.
- Tweekster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7It is primarily a college based site, if you havent seen skin of half the girls in your network, you are doing it wrong
- dannyapplesauce, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Does this study also track the percentage of users that are no longer the college student base that made up the original facebook community? Because now it's just alot of teeny-boppers who shifted their myspace crap to facebook just to be doubly as E-social ... meh
- coyo7e, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Hey, wanna be on my friend list? *opens trenchcoat*
- Aetherine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Dug for best title of the day.
- reflex768, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Such is the problem with blind digging. Still worth it though in this isolated case.
- inkhead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Wow! That sure is alot of people running around with no clothes on under their trenchcoats!
- netkid91, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Wonderland at least
- Bajeda, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Thats assuming the 41% of facebook users 'exposing' themselves were evenly divided between males and females. Experience shows that females are more likely to 'cover up' their personal info so strangers can't see it.
- rationalist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You do know that Digg discounts blind digging - you have to click on the article link before your opinion is valued.
- whereisian, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I'm exposing myself right now. See?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Damn, I was expecting boobies from the facebook ladies...but all I got was an identity theft article.
- Myko, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3This is so funny to me - you know where else people expose phone numbers/addresses to strangers? The phonebook. Who gives a *****. I make my profile public so people can find me, I give others the benefit of the doubt that they're not serial killers. Uptight alarmists who think people need to keep their facebook information private are silly to me.
- antdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Are you sure those 50% are really women? It could be guys pretending to be women. ;)
- neodorian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Strangers! Oh noes! Who would have thought that meeting new people would be part of a SOCIAL network?
- Unremarkable, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4You fail at reading subtlety.
- danomagnum, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2what can you steal with an email address and a birthday?
- goldfenix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ah, but will 41% of facebook users also show us their jubblies?
- Smight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"Hello there bank manager I would like to empty my account. I was born on january 5, 2007 and my email address is notreal@notmail.what... No I don't remember my name or account number... actually I don't even know if I have an account here but could you please call around and empty whatever account you find?... NO! Don't send anything to that email! It's almost full... maybe you could just leave the money in a paper sack in the alley and I'll pick it up next time I stop by."
Revealing your birthday and email address is only going to expose youto 0.001% more spam then you are getting already. Noone is going to steal your identity with an email address they don't have the name or password for. - InferiorWang, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3+1 for the irony
- rYno, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1this is NEWs? lol...
- killerofkiller, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3*2 g's in dugg
*edit: sorry, i didn't know you only joined back in May, you didn't know any better - faizal5k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1lmao! that's the same thing i was thinkin when i saw the title of this digg post lmao
- looksliketrent, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1At first, I thought it meant like randomly flashing people on the street...
- xero69, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I like to expose myself to strangers too, see ya at the park!
- sysadmin88, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Crotchbook.....damn the DNS name is already taken.....
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Who the hell has their home address on FB? I think they are counting home town as address. So basically you can get an email address and a hometown. BFD.
- reflex768, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No, I didn't know that. That's interesting.
- Hunterville, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1or double posting
- vertinox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Shouldn't we be more worried about the poor stranger's mental scars?
- wikk3d, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Buried as inaccurate.
- mercurysquad, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1apparently 12 out of 15 was not even good enough for boobies. so yeah. pics or it didn't happen.
- bcecka, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Your username makes that so much funnier...
- JessicaRothman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0When anything goes, it's women who lose.
- crapmatic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0"82% of them gave "Freddi" [the frog] an open view of their profiles, listing enough personal information that an identity thief could easily take advantage of them. He added that 72% divulged at least one of their e-mail addresses, 84% gave up their date of birth, and 87% offered details about where they went to school and where they work."
Wow. I was prepared for 20% since many professionals leave "business card" type info on line, but 80% is truly a motherlode. I'm sure by now there's a legion of astute harvesters and ID thieves trying to figure out how to exploit Facebook. - sunkist22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0i bet its almost all teenagers. They are not too swift. But the same thing can be said for teenagers anywhere, not just the internet. so... wonder how much they paid for this study
- tshirva, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I wonder if there was any correlation to the age of the individual; i.e. the younger the individual, the more likely it is that they will share what an older individual might consider private
