- ConorKiley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That picture of the little Chinese kid sitting in the giant PC graveyard was hysterical! Somebody call Sally Strothers she'll be weeping in seconds.
- zone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is real, unfortunately for me :(
"What's more, your eyes aren't designed to focus on something two feet away from you for hours at a time. Our eyes perform best looking at things 20 feet away or more. To look at something closer, your eyes turn inward and your pupil constricts. This puts strain on your eye muscles and cranial nerves, which can result in symptoms ranging from sore, itchy eyes to blurred vision to increased sensitivity to light. While these symptoms often disappear with rest, double vision while driving home in afternoon traffic is a seriously dangerous situation."
damn you computer.. o_O give me back my sight... - diggerphelps, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1laugh now, but wait til you're forty plus like me, and your whole body aches and you gotta take a pill just to lift your schlong up.
k, so I went a little overboard with that whole schlong thing, but still... - capajc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heh. Good for the comedic effect.
- Herolint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why do stretches and exercises designed to help with repetitive stress injuries always make you look like a complete pud?
- nickster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@diggerphelps
Have a blue tint I take it. =) - Wardvark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One of the links at the end sends you to Sex Addicts Anonymous. And they want to get you off the computer?
- hexalite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I solve all of these problems by using the computer even more! For example, if I'm by the computer more often, then I'm less often on the road experiencing double vision, ghosts, and ufos!
- johnnyhay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0HELP ME!! My computer is KILLING ME!! hahaah.rnYeah, I've had, and maybe still have, a few serious problems from my "internet addiction". Here's a short list.rn1. Eye problems-My old crt caused my eyes to become red and extremely dry but I got that fix, by buying a 19' LCD baby.rn2. Insomia-There's are just some of those days when I can't go to sleep because I'm on this thing.rn3. Low performance is school-when I'm supposed to be preparing for a class, I'm usually surfing the web.rn4. Bored from subjects that don't directly deal when computers.rn5. Internet Addiction.rnrnWill soon Digged.
- statik99, on 11/03/2009, -0/+0My computer hurt me because I got angry when it wouldn't turn on so I took my fist to the case. When that didn't work I took a knife to the power cable and it shocked me. My doctor says not to do that anymore because the shock took some of my smarts away, now I can't reboot the machine without help.
Actually, in all honesty; I heard the tales of good posture and ergonomics. I use an ergonomic keyboard because it's easier on my wrists... but I know while at work, on a standard keyboard, I can't stand to type for very long. I do know that my LCD is much easier on my eyes than a CRT sitting 2 feet in front of me. Good article! - xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder if its Two Times worse for us Dual Screeners. :)
- kahanaboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My brother is on a computer for all day at work, and hours at home as well, just today he had a series of seizures. the doctors say it is from the amount of time he spends on the computer. I think i'm going to be more careful about it.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They don't mention REFRESH RATES!
I emplore you, use at least 85hz on your refresh setting. Uncheck that gay Windows "I know your monitor better than you do" checkbox and crank the sucker up! - Thmstec, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I meant 4800x1200*
- Thmstec, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I wonder if its Two Times worse for us Dual Screeners. :)"
Thats a really good question. I use three different 19 inch CRT monitors in my set-up(plus a TV, but I don't look at it much because 3200x1200 good enough most of the time), and they all have different refresh rates (72,75,85). I wonder how bad that is for me? More than 3x worse?!?!? - yesukai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hah. "Laptop shoulder". Oooh, does the poor little adult have a sore shoulder from 20 lbs of electronics? Well try going back to high school. Those sadistic f-ers made me walk home with 30-40 lbs of books every night. They deserve it.
- hashkaran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they are missing the most important parts.. any guesses?
- Cowboy5995, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There might be some credibity in that insomnia thing. I have been staying up late over break and now that school started up agian I am finding it harder to go to sleep. But maybe I am crazy or maybe I should call 911 and tell them my computer is trying to kill me.
- b04155, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Alright, ten different things on ten different pages. Yes!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Personally i never suffer from Insomnia, even though due to my studies especially when exams are near, i spend a lot of time in front of computer.
Could be because every hour, i have a small break. - kamizu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't see why some people think this article is humorous at all. I have to wear glasses because I was practically raised around computers. I am near-sighted, which should say enough. I'd also take that insomnia thing a little more seriously. I don't know anyone who uses computers frequently who has also managed to get good nights of sleep. I haven't slept earlier than 1:30 am in ages. Seriously, years.
Finally, I wasn't even remotely aware of how electronic trash was hurting the environment. That such waste wasn't being recycled or shipped properly or even legally. I must admit though, that picture of the little kid in the pile of trash was a bit over the top. Considering they quoted Greenpeace, I wasn't surprised they'd use that sort of photo-propaganda. Still, it's kind of an eye opener for me. - clumsyninja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This was brought up ( just today) in the business course I've been taking. Very important stuff.
- Detour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Help..
I'm dying of crt radiation exposure..
lol
