- Kuipo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I want to see the video of the niece falling off of the roof... link anyone?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And this is the reason why they are so popular. :-)
(Warning: adults only - NO porn, but hot)
http://hottube.wordpress.com/ - blaksaga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just type the link like http://www.google.com but make sure to start it with http://. There is no need for markup; Digg is smart enough to know what is a link and will automatically add an tag so it's clickable.
- BasouKazuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rapidshare isn't specifically designed for video uploading. You can upload various file types and it doesn't allow for quick viewing like the sites mentioned.
Putfile isn't as big as you would like to think and isn't all that great either. - Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1putfile is small and not used often, rapidshare is for just sharing files. It has no video playback features or player.
- spy1325, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2youtube is down right now.. they're upgrading
- Metal_Guru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Darn, the above link post wasn't supposed to go through like that.
How is one supposed to link things? Neither BBCode nor HTML goes through. - Metal_Guru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Decent review... but very limited. Left out quite a few good ones. Sharkle has good quality video conversion. Bolt.com has a Flickr feel. Vidilife may have WMV (uggh!) but no limits on # of vids.
- Metal_Guru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sharkle.com
[url="http://www.bolt.com"]Bolt.com[/url]
[url=http://www.Vidilife.com]Vidilife.com[/url] - rimco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I agree, there needs to be something like youtube that allows explicit content, like an "anything goes" type of place. Granted, the level of censorship on something like youtube is far less that what you'd find on major media, but still... there needs to be *some* place on the net where anything goes. BTW, by explicit, I don't mean porn, though I suppose I wouldn't complain too much if it happened.
- duckedtapedemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its your niece.
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2the Google upload is a huge pain in the ass, Jumpcut uses Flash 8 so Linux is cut out
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good review, but I dislike flash content. By default you cannot save it. Its much too proprietary in the way windows media player is. We really need some new video format. Anyone know if there is an "open" video format?
- cryonix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i used Ourmedia form the start for a while... then it started to have issues with its upload program. crashing and causing errors with the videos made me stop using it. maybe once it comes out of alpha or a major update is implimented ill try it again. now i just upload to my website if i want to share videos.
- complex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just wait until http://www.motionbox.com goes live...
- Metal_Guru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Check out these sites for more services (and reviews):
http://testinggrounds.loadedpun.com/?
http://25thdimension.blogsome.com/2005/11/01/the-creme-de-video-sharing-websites - CarLBanks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm a YouTube person. I've tried others and haven't found anything better.
- cryonix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ourmedia works through Internet Archive, if you upload with ourmedia its first saved to the Ourmedia server for temp viewing till it is saved the the I.A. server. thats why you can find all ourmedia posts there. but Internet archive is still a nice place for stock footage. i used some for School projects mostly the old black and white military/nuke footage.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In my opinion google video is the best, I dont like how youtube looks, I also dont like their name.
- funkytaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm working on something like this:
http://www.avidbeauty.com/ - RamMasterRay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1heres a few more sites:

http://www.break.com/
And you can use this site to save videos:http://keepvid.com/ - J6stik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually this article is wrong. Bittorrent is the best video sharing service. :P
- colin7151, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Id recommend checking out 138fx.com , its a site that myself and a few friends (its a cool project a few guys that have watched pirates of silicon valley to much are working on, not a job so please dont consider this spam) are developing. Our aim is to combine google video and facebook, as well as to add in as many social sorting mechanisms as possible. We just got it live a day or to ago so the coolest features (in my opinion anyway) are still yet to come. As its still an early Beta we havnt sprung for a new box yet so forgive any slowness (the httpd and linux tweaks posted here all the time can only do so much).
Please check it out and let me know what you guys think good or bad, you can email all opinions / criticisms to support@138fx.com or just reply here... thanks ! - blaksaga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ogg theora. But it's still in alpha so it's pretty buggy. I know Revision3.com has been offering video downloads in theora format but I never could get them to work properly in totem/xine.
Also, there is an ogg media (ogm) container but it's just a container (like AVI) and not an actual format. - blaksaga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.google.com
- Rhine23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Thanks for the link very informative and mentioned some i had never heard of before
+digg - interval, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A good place to bookmark and share all the videos you find at these other sites is livelocker at http://www.livelocker.com
- zincanode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they forgot to mention the internet archive:
http://www.archive.org - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Check out what DivX is doing, a ton of community features, no flash crap, still no upload, but I’m pretty sure it’s coming…
http://community.divx.com/ - sbiehle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can always use KeepVid (http://keepvid.com/) to download and save flash movies.
- admirabumblebee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Top 10? I've only heard of 2 of them...
putfile and rapidshare.de are certainly way bigger than most of those mentioned - dadioben6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is another player in the game, this one is looking at quality films for users who are looking to showcase their work. The service is called MyMovieNetwork and can be found at http://www.mymovienetwork.com. Become a member, upload films, you'll like the service.
- jmac7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im a phanfare.com fan, but no linux support, requires flashplayer 8,
- Smauler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Also, the BBC are doing Dirac - progress seems slow though.
- Harangutanon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I've had a lot of fun playing around with Videoegg's interface. I only create videos for casual purposes (sending my friends video of them doing stupid stuff, etc.), and their site's saved me from downloading a needlessly sophisticated, expensive program.
And though I love Google, one thing that really annoys me about Google Video is their Popular section. I mean, I know 90% of everything is crap, but pretty much all of them are just...uninspired, to say the least. - soundsys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0VideoEgg definitely put the whole "production" phase to another level. In browser video capturing and editing!! Meanwhile YouTube gets more founding : http://digg.com/technology/YouTube_gets_$8M_in_Funding
Still that's a lot of players, are we going to see some consolidation soon ? - apache2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Youtube is mytube, and that's the way it's gonna be,..... baby.
- mattyG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1putfile.com
vidilife.com
bolt.com - Necros, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The only ones I would consider are youtube, because of the site's poplarity (you don't put a video on the net without wanting people to see it), and google video, because, as the article says, it's google. The only downside for me about those two sites is that they are both very limiting on explicit content...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1XviD.
Also, wasn't the Ogg Vorbis group doing something to make an open video format?

What is Digg?
