- joe159, on 10/31/2009, -7/+491schools have ZERO right to enforce anything done outside of school.
the school should find whoever distributed the pictures at school and punish them. the girls are being punished for something someone else did. - DrZsbl, on 10/31/2009, -8/+416Might have to bury this, no pics.
- juliusthecat, on 10/31/2009, -2/+236What were the all-male coaches' board doing looking at a high school girl's private pictures from a sleep over in which they pantomime oral sex with a lolly pop in the first place?
"The girls, identified only by their initials in the suit, took the photos during a sleepover with friends before school started this summer and posted them on their MySpace pages, setting the privacy controls so only those designated as friends could view them" - mnortei, on 10/31/2009, -10/+234Pics, or it didn't happen
- crazzy88ss, on 10/31/2009, -0/+188It's the parents' job to police their children while at home. Not the school's.
- Bobby1978, on 10/31/2009, -0/+172I too would need to examine the pics to determine conclusively whether these hot chicks were in fact posing in any sexually suggestive way.
- scuba7183, on 10/31/2009, -1/+148Unless they posted these pics from schools computers, this is completely out of the domain of school administration

- TheHungerArtist, on 10/31/2009, -0/+50This is just another instance of a law that is far too nebulous. By this laws definition if a child were to wet the bed and children were to talk about it the next day too much in class he would be at fault. If Chad and Jamie ***** in the back of chad's civic and amber heard about and told Britney, Coach Stick up his Ass could ban chad from playing in the big game against Westenberg Prep.
- Assassinanus, on 10/31/2009, -10/+58Sigh, I clicked this link with pants unzipped, ready for some goodness, only to be let down.
What a tease. - issachar, on 10/31/2009, -6/+54Actually, according to the article the Supreme Court has said that schools DO have a right to discipline for behaviour.
Quote: "the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that students can be disciplined for activities that happen outside of school, so long as the school can prove the activities were disruptive or posed a danger and that it was foreseeable the activities would find their way to campus"
It's foreseeable that anything posted on the internet could find it's way onto campus, so this case will rest on whether or not the school can show that the activity was disruptive.
This is a pretty wide allowance. - CptGreencoat, on 10/31/2009, -1/+48MySpace?

- GrandZooby, on 10/31/2009, -4/+48So, let me get this right. Students today will stand around and watch a brutal rape for 2 hours and not call the police, maybe even take some pictures, but when a couple girls post some of their own racy pictures online, they can't wait to snitch on them?
I'm glad to see we have our priorities straight. I foresee great things in the future for this country.
/s - TheCash, on 10/31/2009, -0/+41This case has a lot more merit then that ***** "bong hits for Jesus" case that went all the way to the Supreme Court. That guy just wanted to get on TV, but these girls were just posting photos from their lives outside of school and school sponsored events. That they were punished in any way for them is complete horse *****.
- ethana2, on 10/31/2009, -0/+40Ö
- issachar, on 10/31/2009, -0/+40Scenario 1: They're all really l33t haxors out of a movie.
Scenario 2: They photos got spread around by one of those "friends" and ultimately made it's way to school administrators.
Now which do you think is more likely? - AiR1890, on 10/31/2009, -3/+39What are these school officials doing snooping around on student's myspaces and facebooks? Anyone else find this a bit creepy.
- diemunkiesdie, on 10/31/2009, -0/+35Most cases have ruled that the school has responsibility for you until you get home. So essentially you could have gone home (maybe drop off your books), left, and then beat the snot out of that kid, and you would have been just fine (unless you went overboard with the beating and the cops got involved)!
- TheCash, on 10/31/2009, -0/+34Sounds to me like the damage was done by those who circulated the photos in school, not the girls themselves. Punishment might have been deserved, but they punished the wrong people.
- Shaymojack, on 10/31/2009, -1/+34Remember kids: Never add any kind of authority as a social networking friend.
- Lavarock, on 10/31/2009, -0/+31maybe they ought to punish whoever circulated the ***** photos. If anyone disrupted anything, it's those *****.
- GelfTheElf, on 10/31/2009, -0/+31How does it make sense for a school to "punish" a kid who does drugs/sex/alchohol/etc. by removing them from all extracurricular activities and thus...
.. give them more time to do those things?!!?
"We found out you're doing xyz so we're going to give you more time to do so and remove you from activities monitored by adults and that build good team and interpersonal skills."
Awesome. - sidekicksuicide, on 10/31/2009, -5/+33no one said they were hot.
- catalysis, on 10/31/2009, -0/+28When you troll messageboards, you are supposed to make it somewhat believable to evoke the most response. It's an artform. You want it to be offensive, but not too over-the-top or you will blow your cover. Now go make a new account and follow my teachings young grasshopper.

- Hazardc, on 11/01/2009, -1/+27Yeah, well id probably dump my girlfriend if she stopped letting me make physical contact with her as well.
If that makes me a douche, so be it. I think it's perfectly normal. - enronhubbard, on 10/31/2009, -1/+27FTA:
"someone copied the pictures and shared them with school officials, and they eventually were given to the principal."
Does that answer your question? - rocknog, on 10/31/2009, -0/+24Ugh, nothing has changed. It's just that thanks to the Internet, schools can now know what students are up to outside of school time. This is ***** ridiculous. I mean, what student doesn't violate school rules on their own free time? Hell, I was a perfect little goody two-shoes when I was in school, and even I would've been expelled for my after-school activities had they occurred during school hours. Surely school officials understand that - they were kids once, too, weren't they?
- captainjosh, on 10/31/2009, -2/+26Happened to me before. It was about 3 blocks away from school a group of us were all walking home. I was like seven and some punk kid said something insulting back when i was young enough to care what people said, so i punched him and he ran off.
Next day I got called to the principle's office and they asked if I knew what it was for, and I had no idea what with school only being in session for an hour so far. He mentioned violent behavior and i remembered and thought wait...wasnt that after school? not on school grounds?
But I guess it don't matter when you're only 7, hopefully these girls if nothing else get at least an apology from the all-male coach board or whatever. - TheHungerArtist, on 11/01/2009, -0/+20It's the same reasoning behind getting suspended for skipping school
- Hiwnes, on 10/31/2009, -0/+19Ah good old High School bureaucratic BS. The Librarians were always the worst. A friend and I were accused of "hacking" the library computers because we found a (graphically based) way to subvert the download restrictions on the POS macs they had. You would have thought we were strolling around with molotov cocktails in hand by the uproar that caused.
- Cerebron, on 10/31/2009, -1/+20Compulsory and public schools are different from a private college or school.
If attendance is compulsory, or the school accepts public funds, then the school should have no jurisdiction outside of its campus, its authority and purview should be strictly controlled, just like any other government agency, lest they run amok like this. - Mroutrageous, on 10/31/2009, -0/+18Someone has obviously never been to college or attends BYU.
