- TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+159I don't want this guy speaking for the internet. He obviously doesn't fully grasp the concept of "kids" or "the internet". He probably doesn't even know how to use a computer. The internet is in for a bad future if it's in the hands of idiots like Ted Stevens.
- richstyles, on 10/12/2007, -6/+153Don't want them clogging those tubes on the internets
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+115im in ur toobz...blocking ur myspace
- TheRingmaster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+83In ur soviet russia tubes, clichés blend YOU
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+65In Soviet Russia... SHUT THE HELL UP
- mazerrackham, on 10/12/2007, -0/+55Nah, then some politician would waste millions of dollars building a bridge to it.
Just send him an internet politely explaining why he is an ass. - CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+54I beleive the class is entitled: "The Internets 101: From nub to UBER1337 H4X0R PWNAGE"
- CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -4/+55Or dumping something on something things shouldn't be dumped on, its not a truck.
My internets aren't getting where they're supposed to because all these myspace people have so many packets that mine get tangled up in them and can't get where they're going. - awm4, on 10/12/2007, -19/+68MySpace sux
- danielman94, on 10/12/2007, -4/+39While I wouldn't want them banning Digg, or maybe Facebook, I don't really know anything about that site, I really hate how every time you go to the library, almost all, or all, of the computers are being used for Myspace, so if you want to look something up while you're there, you can't. Also, while I was at the library, I was looking at this retards myspace that he was sending a message on, and it was "i cant cuz i mite get in trobell"....
- subgeniusd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37This is the same corrupt, free-spending ***** that tried to push that -?- 100+ million dollar "bridge to nowhere" for a remote Alaska island that even the locals did not want. He epitomizes the Big Brother Republican and sounds like a character right out of 1984.
- rudy23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29wouldnt it be better if they just banned myspace?
- freehunter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Because talking with friends on MySpace somehow means you have less of a life than trolling on Digg all day.
- aliengoods, on 10/12/2007, -7/+35Does anyone have any doubt this guy will be the next congressional child sex scandal? This kind of loathing usually starts with themselves.
- mogwaifearsatan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27MySpace and Facebook have been banned at my school forever, but not because of predators. They were sick of kids dicking around on those sites during school time. Thank God I still have Digg at school or I would probably die of boredom.
- mardigrasnut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25We should put politicians like Teddy on an island somewhere where they wont infest anyone with their stupidity or ignorance.
- Langford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25The irony of this situation is that many of these sites are the only reason that kids are bothering to become computer literate at all.
- aerogant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Wouldn't it be just easier to block Ted Stevens from those sites? If he believe those sites don't exist any more, maybe he will be happier...
- mfratt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Wouldn't banning MySpace be doing a service to humanity?
- Kragnerac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Video of tube clogging or it didn't happen.
- zappo1776, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I used to be a roto rooter man. If I took the roto rooter tool and turned it all the way up and shoved it up this Senators ass it would not be enough to to clean the ***** out. He is not qualified to talk about tubes.

http://www.amazon.com/Internet-Dummies-John-R-Levine/dp/0764506749 - Kazanoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I'd like to point out that you can login to my schools homepage.
Will that be banned as well, Teddy? - Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I fully support Libraries themselves banning myspace and facebook. They're there for research, yet are always full of kids just using them to look at their myspace.
- Guard, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18"Does anyone have any doubt this guy will be the next congressional child sex scandal? This kind of loathing usually starts with themselves."
He'll blame it on the internet (the tubes made him do it), and then say he did it to protect the children, so they know what to watch out for. He definitely seems like a good candidate for a child sex scandal. - DaphneA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I know this sounds like a strange concept, but whatever happened to parents actually monitoring what their kids are doing? And doesn't Congress have anything better to do with their time than to worry about what's on the Internet?
- InsaneMachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Are you actually implying that myspacers are computer literate?
Blasphemy - orientis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I was going to say that I agree teenagers should be banned from myspace, but your idea is more encompassing, more far-reaching. More extensive.
I like it. - bking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I don't like MTV, so people shouldn't be allowed to see that either!! Ban it from humanity.
***** freedoms... it's all about my opinion. - halik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I love that it's people that know nothing about the topic that somehow feel qualified to regulate it.

Actually.... the library computers are not designated simply for research. They are also there for low income families who cannot afford to buy a computer of their own. Yes, it's true that if the user is not using the computer for educational purposes, and instead if using it for recreational purposes, then a user who has a "more legitimate" cause has priority over that computer. - brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I see a lot of these stories on digg, and I wonder if any of you people ever watched Schoolhouse Rock (the one about the Bill on Capitol Hill). Ted Stevens is a moron and it's obvious that everyone in the Senate knows it (his bills get killed). I think people see these crazy constitution-killing bills being introduced as much more of a threat than they really are. A bill has to go through a dizzying amount of steps before it actually becomes law. It has to pass in the senate and in the house first, which in the senate is 100 people, plus 435 in the house. So basically you have to get 51 senators, and 218 representatives to agree on it. Getting 269 people to agree on anything is a challenge. THEN, the president has to either sign or veto. if he vetos, back to congress it goes and must pass with a 2/3rds majority.
I bet several of these asinine bills are introduced every week. Any bill has an extremely slim chance to become law. It has about as much chance as a spammer for an indian film website getting any of his stories on the front page. - SIRBERUS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Maybe if we got the tube's tied, there would be less teen pregnancy?
- zbeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I vote for a bill to ban Ted Stevens from the internet.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11If only he would focus his energy on making sure every child has access to healthcare.
- evilTak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Ban kids from myspace? Kids are the only people *on* myspace! May as well ban men from strip clubs...
- PotatoSalad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Same thing at my old job. They had me set up a proxy server to block most social community websites like that. For some strange reason, the number of daily orders processed almost doubled. Most of the employees in the recording department were girls between the ages of 19 and 24 (myself excluded). It was a good job with many distractions.
- nickrct, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Stevens is more than just an idiot. He pushed to have the main airport in Alaska named after himself, a sign of a real egotistical prick. He sees himself in the same light as JFK and John F. Dulles.
- graemee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Not even Tom would be friends with Ted.
- Deranged, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7As I commented on the article:
When will senators understand that they have no clue what a computer really is and how it works? The internet is not controlled by America, and America needs to stop trying to take control. That will ONLY result in other countries dropping their internet communications. I live in America, and believe that ISPs should have the right to withhold copyright laws by disallowing one to download data that is not being transferred legally. It’s also not too far fetched of an idea to prosecute those who are found using AMERICA’s ISPs to distribute said content. But that’s only if you can devise a foolproof way to detect such transfers. Any new technology for that purpose will quickly become obsolete. It’s all about being ahead of the game. Pirates will be writing new protocols to send data in a more secure, encrypted manner each time the previous one is cracked, and pirates get a good deal on their code compilers too. - MrWinna, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9After reading this, and considering his previous catastrophes it makes me wonder why this Dinosaur cant leave the internet alone.
Ted Stevens should take "Web 101: Intro to the Internet for DUMBARSES" - bking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It's a good point. Social network sites give a lot more people a reason to actually turn on a computer. It may not turn into uberleet coders, but at least they now have email addresses.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Let's all chip in and buy Sealand for all the politicians...and banish them.
- Xanadude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wow, now there are actually *two* things Senator Stevens and I agree on:
1. MySpace sucks
2. Wearing "Incredible Hulk" neckties is a good thing - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6What's to stop more technologically unaware congressmen from proposing/passing similar bills? Only a Libertarian solution would permanently prevent government intervention in communications and media.
- skipere, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The scary thing is nut cake like him affect our life.
- bking, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7How ***** ironic is that. People bitch about myspace/facebook, and the kids who waste all their time one it..... as you waste a computer and hours of classtime on Digg reading discussions and making comments.
Be nice to that kettle, pot. - maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5myspace should be banned from the internet itself
