- scyphozoa, on 07/01/2009, -1/+32will this help me against zombies?
- DaDrake, on 07/01/2009, -1/+30You're right.
Bring back the real firearms! In my day, the police shot the protester, ran them over with tanks, then sent their family a bill for the cost of the bullet.
Protesters these days don't know how easy they got it. - O8SERVER, on 07/01/2009, -1/+28Sticky shocker from splinter cell, anyone?
- novenator, on 07/01/2009, -1/+25Wireless Tasers? This has lawsuit written all over it.
- pLuhhmm, on 07/01/2009, -0/+18Cool, now when I get tasered I can get a broken rib at the same time!
- FrozenPie, on 07/01/2009, -0/+17wireless tasers? *****
- jewishmafio, on 07/01/2009, -0/+16Sawed off taser?
- AdeleMor, on 07/01/2009, -10/+26that's terrifying. can you imagine what this will do to peaceful protests vs. armed riot police?
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -0/+15Some cop will shoot and kill with shot or slug and say, "I could of sworn it had a taser in it".
- kartman2001, on 07/01/2009, -5/+15Jesus how did you get to that so quick. The poor sad peaceful protesters out there standing up to The Man. Staring down and shouting at the evil armed riot police and whack he gets tased. Most people tasered (sp?) to death are not protesters. I think most protesters still need to worry about being hit in the head with a a beating stick club than tased from 100 feet away.
- nepidae, on 07/01/2009, -0/+9the cops laugh?
- tkcom, on 07/01/2009, -2/+11Why is this not in Taser section???
- LtCarter47, on 07/01/2009, -0/+9Like in Heroes?
- enantiodromia, on 07/01/2009, -3/+12Apparently the good people at Taser are fans of Heroes.
- sheetrock, on 07/01/2009, -0/+8Good. People tell me they look stupid, but who's laughing now?
- sneakyness, on 07/01/2009, -1/+8and they said we didn't learn nothin on them vidyagames.
- SpykerSpeed, on 07/01/2009, -4/+10There needs to be another company that specializes in neutralizing Taser's technology. I'm sick of cops using our tax dollars to buy this ***** and then violently assaulting peaceful civilians with it.
- JohnInMT, on 07/01/2009, -0/+6Why do you post the same thing in every article? Seriously you've posted that same crap in over 10 articles today... Give it a rest.
- SpykerSpeed, on 07/01/2009, -1/+7It does happen all the time. Nonviolent offenders being taken down violently.
- DrDragun, on 07/01/2009, -0/+6I saw this on a TV show, maybe futureweapons or something. The cathode is a barb on the front of the projectile (which has unfurling fins on the back to stabilize it) and the anode pops out of the back of the shell and dangles on a pendulum. The pendulum has a bunch of tiny needles on it that are meant to hook your leg, so the electicity has a long path through your whole body (tasers are ineffective when teh anode and cathode are close together).
it is the most ridiculously complicated projectile ever
metal pants would defeat it - jewishmafio, on 07/01/2009, -0/+6Im fully aware of that... im just acting stupid.
- SpykerSpeed, on 07/01/2009, -1/+7Clever argument... but I think you would have been better off quoting scripture to me, considering your username.
- DrDragun, on 07/01/2009, -0/+6Futureweapons video, the shotgun projectile feature starts around 30 sec in:

- enantiodromia, on 07/01/2009, -6/+11I think Law Enforcement will find that entering an electronic arms race against the general public will be tricky at best, and deadly at worst.
Most people do not have the skills to fashion firearms and mix gun powder in their garages, but Radio Shack and Fry's give you pretty much all you need to a: create more powerful electrical weapons, and b: neutralize most electrical weapons.
A thick fiberglass jacket, and a super-soaker filled with gooey electrolyte, along with your own home made 'taser', is probably enough to turn the tables on over anxious cops Tasing random protesters. Since Tasers are officially classified as "non-lethal", there shouldn't be any "attempted murder of a police officer" if you use one, right?
They are almost totally silent, so using one in a crowd won't draw attention in your direction, they are very cheap and anonymous to make so simply dropping it in the crowd of people and walking away is easy, and the person you are tasing isn't able to yell for help, so I am not sure if this is really a direction Law Enforcement wants to go.
I sort of hope they do however, as it's much easier to defend oneself against electricity than it is a piece of lead traveling at 3,280 ft/s. - kaosethema, on 07/01/2009, -1/+6...because some cops have proven to be so proficient with it.
- Gregac, on 07/01/2009, -1/+6If you use a stun weapon on an officer it is considered attempted murder on an officer, well at least in a case here in Arizona. There is no other rational reason the court decided one would want to incapacitate a officer except to kill. This was a civil case for wrongful death, the court also determined the the cops use of lethal force on a person using a weapon capable of incapacitating an officer was justified. To me that is just f'up they have the right to incapacitate but we do not let alone when you try that they would have the right to use lethal force. Also trust me if you had access to radio shack and fry's electronic, you can do a lot worse than just electrical devices. People forgot one of the major points of law enforcement they are several weakned if you take out there ability to communicate.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -1/+6Now cops can taser innocent, old, handicapped, women going into labor, etc. from a safe distance away! Fabulous!
/ do I need the freaking sarcasm tag here? - enantiodromia, on 07/01/2009, -0/+4Pipe bombs, over here!
- Richandler, on 07/01/2009, -1/+5Time to get into the buissness of selling high density rubber armor. Tasing is basically a form of torture design to create cooperation.
- Leopards, on 07/01/2009, -0/+4This is so he can say he never heard him say "Don't Taze Me Bro"" Too far away to hear it!! 8-)
- LastDitchHero, on 07/01/2009, -0/+4They even have taser claymorish weapons. They really need to make these projectiles ONLY work the modified mossburg shotguns (these shotguns can not fire a regular round). Like anything good though it will be abused.
- r00fus, on 07/01/2009, -1/+5The Police are not average people. They get trained and have authority, privilege and power that average citizens do not (for one, they are licensed to use and carry firearms, sometimes concealed).
All we are asking is that they live up to that responsibility that comes with the power. - rainmandane, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3
Boston Police killed an innocent 24 year-old coed when an officer fired a pepper spray paintball into a crowd of Red Sox fans, hitting the girl in the eye. A subsequent hearing found that neither the girl nor the officer was at fault. They cited the officer's testimony that he relied on the manufacturer's representation that the round was non-lethal and would dissipate the crowd by creating temporary discomfort. I wonder whether Taser International will advise police against firing XR slugs into crowds. - mark5hs, on 07/01/2009, -6/+9Seems rather pointless. Why tase when you have a shotgun?
- thelab101, on 07/01/2009, -1/+4We're doomed!
- damnshoes, on 07/01/2009, -1/+4I want a dog that shoots killer bees from its mouth
- vtnerd, on 07/01/2009, -1/+4Yes, that is an astronomical stretch.
Cops are, almost without exception, worthless "public" "servants." As proof, you need look no further than the wall of silence. If there were good cops (and there aren't any, regardless of how nice your dad/mom/aunt/uncle/brother/sister/son/guy down the street treats you) they would turn the bad ones in, but they circle the wagons and cover each others' backs.
Case in point:
Guy shooting unarmed man in subway station. Did his buddies arrest him on the spot for murder/manslaughter? ***** no.
The list goes on and on, but the simple truth is that police are not your friends. Almost without exception, they are glorified tax collectors with too much authority and not enough intelligence. - mytealjacket, on 07/01/2009, -1/+4I have seen two peaceful protesters tased to the ground here in the US. The cops love to try out their new toys on us and most people don't know or care.
- vtnerd, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2Hopefully.
The only good cops are.......you get the idea. - inactive, on 07/01/2009, -1/+3a jacket or vest with metalic threads woven in to the material might work, the electricity would follow the path of least resistance and short out. but then the cops would just soot you with regular bullets.
- enantiodromia, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2You give absolutely zero reasons why any of the things I bring up wouldn't work. In fact, I am not even sure you understand what I was talking about. Let's make it easier to understand. All you have to do is say Yes of No after each of the following questions:
1) Are you saying that wearing non-conductive clothing would not prevent an electrical charge from reaching your skin?
2) Are you saying that spraying someone down with a gel which carries an electrical charge extremely well would not increase your odds of successfully assaulting someone with an electrical device?
3) Are you saying that someone who is able to design and build an electrical weapon capable of killing someone, using parts sourced only from Radio Shack, and deployable while on foot in a crowded setting, is a moron?
I am eager to read your nutty reply. - xolotl360, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2Doesn't that make the shotgun a shockgun? Don't hate me!
- lonehunter01, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2severely weakened?
- Skitals, on 07/01/2009, -3/+5I saw this on some show a long time ago... probably military channel. It's pretty cool... basically a taser gun in a shotgun shell.
- yayster, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2OR from the US:
On 28 July, 1932, Attorney General Mitchell ordered the police evacuation of the Bonus Army veterans, who resisted; the police shot at them, and killed two. When told of the killings, President Hoover ordered the U.S. Army to effect the evacuation of the Bonus Army from Washington, D.C.
At 4:45 p.m., commanded by Gen. Douglas MacArthur, the 12th Infantry Regiment, Fort Howard, Maryland, and the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, supported by six battle tanks commanded by Maj. George S. Patton, Fort Myer, Virginia, formed in Pennsylvania Avenue while thousands of Civil Service employees left work to line the street and watch the U.S. Army attack its own veterans. The Bonus Marchers, believing the display was in their honour, cheered the troops until Maj. Patton charged the cavalry against them — an action which prompted the Civil Service employee spectators to yell, "Shame! Shame!"
After the cavalry charge, infantry, with fixed bayonets and adamsite gas, entered the Bonus Army camps, evicting veterans, families, and camp followers. The veterans fled across the Anacostia River, to their largest camp; President Hoover ordered the Army assault stopped, however, Gen. MacArthur—feeling this free-speech exercise was a Communist attempt at overthrowing the U.S. Government—ignored the President and ordered a new attack. Hundreds of veterans were injured, several were killed — including William Hushka and Eric Carlson; a veteran's wife miscarried; and many other veterans were hurt. - DaveAtDigital, on 07/01/2009, -1/+3What happens if you're shot more than once ?
- KibibyteBrain, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2Even Picard joined the Borg, until his girlfriend got jealous and forced him to leave. It's the next cool thing.
