- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -25/+225What a coincidence! I didn't see the show and I wrote in to *praise* the teen sex orgy and encourage them to keep up the good work.
- drawkbox, on 10/12/2007, -17/+70The whole world is for the kids nowadays, I miss the 70's where it was about being an adult. If these organizations had their way we would all be neutered, castrated and every wall would be padded. Its called life and this is what happens, TV doesn't make life, TV imitates life. Does this not happen in realy life?
- Aanidaani, on 10/12/2007, -8/+52Man, in Europe these are comlete non-issues. Americans are so sensitive to sexuality, it's amazing. No wonder so many kids get pregnant -- they never learn anything about it.
- orlandogeek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+39Having viewed the scene in question, I can say that it was rather edgy for an over the air show (and no I'm not a conservative, i'm one of those rare moderate "centrists"). However, even if it was close to the line (or even over it), the fact remains that if you dont like what you are seeing, change the channel.
- DrummerGirl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35The article has a link. See it here:

Sorry I have to disagree with you, the companies broadcasting this stuff shouldn't have to cater to someone because they think its offensive or can't watch out for thier children.
"Now, I also think it is absolutely and completely reprehensible that people complain about something that they have never seen, based solely on the word of someone else. That is mindless lemming-like stupidity."
now thats something i can agree with. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30yeah google has a few billion, check there.
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29The demonize sex in this country... its sad really...
- crexor, on 10/12/2007, -25/+50Everyones trying to "focus on the family" these days...
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27Dude. You must watch some *terrible* porn.
That clip was erotic, yes. But it was hardly porn. - drawkbox, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2798% of complaints for ALL TV SHOWS come from these two groups. Why do these groups have more power than the entire viewing public?
- DoubtfulSalmon, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28I'm betting that most of the respondents here are doing *exactly* what the article is talking about. Bitching and whining and filing complaints without ever having seen the material they're complaining about.
I just watched the video, on my work computer in my office. My boss can see what I'm doing at any moment. I didn't see anything in that video that makes me think that might be a problem.
That video is SFW, so it's certainlty safe for FTA TV.
Did anyone else actually watch it, or am I the only one? - bigred, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29Last time I checked, this show is on at 10PM. If its OK for them to play porn at 11PM I think it's OK for them to show a teen sex orgy where you don't actually see anything at 10.
- drawkbox, on 10/12/2007, -11/+33These are the same groups that haven't listened to one minute of Howard Stern and ended up taking my entertainment.
- bigpixl, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28Well, they know what goes in what holes.
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -14/+33"Well when the companies use public airwaves they need to conform to public decencies. And yes, that means being careful with what is offensive."
the airwaves arent public, they have to pay for the use of them. if you dont like it change the channel to something like PBS. - Poco, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22What we need is more Teen Sex Orgy on TV. Someone want to start a petition?
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22The video was only semi-hot. Not worth $3 mil. :(
- Anth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18"Well when the companies use public airwaves they need to conform to public decencies. And yes, that means being careful with what is offensive."
Since when is public decency defined by 1000+ wingnuts? If the broadcasters couldn't air anything they thought SOMEONE might find offensive, they probably couldnt air anything. Even Rush and his ilk got pissed off about the purple "gay" teletubbie - nothing is safe. - tsunamisteve, on 10/12/2007, -15/+32I didn't read the article. I just saw teen, sex, and orgy in the same line and dugg.
- shoota, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I agree its totally absurd, the amount of coddling we do to people in this country. I've met a 20 year old girl whose been so sheltered she didn't have basic ideas about sex based on facts. its absurd. that clip was not even remotely offensive. whats even more hilarious is many of the kids of those who filed those complaints are engaging in similiar activities when mom and dad are out fighting the crusade.
- logicnazi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15The day they have compelling research showing a bit of titilation causes worse consequences than the violence that is on TV all day this is purely an example of 'I don't like it so it shouldn't be shown'
I think we all agree that people shouldn't be able to stop democratic messages on TV or prevent shows showing women happily working in traditional roles and this situation is no different. Some people find the portrayl of sex on TV offensive and want to stop other people from seeing it but until they get some compelling evidence on their side that this is worse than what we allow on TV every day it is no different than any other type of censorship.
So yes I agree with the original commentator. I find shows that avoid titilating content just because some people dislike it offensive and if anything is going to be banned I think it should be those. - CRASSPUNXTEXHTV, on 10/12/2007, -7/+22what prevents you from changing the channel if your offend
I've been raped
raped by the FCC - anjinash, on 10/12/2007, -7/+22Religion interfering with our government and our entertainment = lame. If God is angry, He's angry at all these ***** groups who think they're doing HIS work. Psychotic and delusional hypocrites.
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -10/+24You didn't even bother reading it did you? Clearly, if you had, you would've seen this text: "(View it, if you dare, here).", which links to the video.
Please, allow me to say that I think you're pathetic (in the aspect that you only clicked this because it said teen sex orgy). - rageguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I find this all very silly.
Guess what America! the television has an off switch! You do not need to turn it on! You can leave it off for days, weeks, even months.
I own a TV in my apartment and I haven’t turned it on in about 3 months, its amazing how easy it is to get by without it.
If you're one of those people who are concerned by what you may see on the television then you really really should consider not watching it and unplugging the antenna so your kids cannot either. You will be a *lot* happier in the long run. I can get my news from the internet, newspapers and podcasts. I have a very large stack of DVDs and a local video store with enough content to keep me happy for years.
Come on, take a step back and think about it for a few minutes, if you and your family are so addicted that you cant help but sit and watch things that offend you then you have serious issues. You need to see a phycologist and get help! It is possible to stop watching content on television that is offensive! It is still possible to live an informed and interesting life without the television. - h2d2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17You're an idiot for comparing it to pr0n.
But besides that, what really surprises me is that idiots who never watched the show complained to the FCC that a small portion of an hour long TV show was indecent, and not suitable for children. The show comes on at 10pm on Tuesday nights... so my question to these dumbasses is, what the ***** are your kids doing watching TV at that hour on a school night? - adodaro, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21I love how people get hell bent over this stuff but it's more than acceptable to show shootings, murder, violence and (the worst) religious programming on regular TV.
But that's right --- it's the potty mouths and dirty pictures that are driving this country into the ground. Oh dear, indeed.
Maybe this is why European TV is so much more entertaining? Thank god for BBC America! - sencha5, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22Jesus Christ, you guys must be kidding. I know that most of you guys commenting against it must have some 'hippy liberal' people in suits holding a gun to your heads forcing you and your family to watch this, but in most circumstances people can turn ***** off that they don't like. See someone get shot on TV? Turn it to a different channel. See a titty? maybe two? Turn it off if kids are in the room if you want. You have the power to censor what comes into your home. If you're not responsible enough to educate yourself or your children on critical viewing, it's unfortunate that the onus is on the FCC to cover your shortcomings.
- thejokell, on 10/12/2007, -27/+40"Sorry I have to disagree with you, the companies broadcasting this stuff shouldn't have to cater to someone because they think its offensive or can't watch out for thier children."
Well when the companies use public airwaves they need to conform to public decencies. And yes, that means being careful with what is offensive. - zephc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Hey, its all the parties I didn't get invited to in high school. So *that's* what I was missing.
- ashester, on 10/12/2007, -12/+24I agree with barbabot,
Why can't people who don't want to watch something not watch it and people who do, should watch it. Also like Aanidanni says people in America are way too sensitive about sexuality, its a natural thing. I don't see why people can't accept who they are. Also back to theblooms comment, people shouldn't have to hide what they see behind a pay per view channel, the sapranos is a good show i'd rather see it on a channel parents can block then have to go out and rent it (i don't get HBO :( ). So in conclusion people shouldn't sue over something like this or even make a fit about it, just don't watch it if you don't want to, watch it if you do. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13there is a TON of sex in america -- the difference in america is that it's restricted so that you have to PAY for it.
sex for free (eg, nude beaches, broadcast tv) == evil, filthy, banned
sex for $ (strip clubs, porn dvds, late night cable, beer commercials) == wholesome capitalism at work - hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Sorry, in some American minds erotic = porn on tape, and they also consider it a sin if there's even the slightest bit of eros outside of marriage. Flirt? Well, you sinner you!
- fgsfds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12"Well when the companies use public airwaves they need to conform to public decencies. And yes, that means being careful with what is offensive."
The FCC, as a subbranch of the government established by congressional decision, is bound by the first ammendment.
They do not have the right to decide what is and is not offensive content, this 'power' is an abuse of their authority. - aresef, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15What kind of kid regularly watches primetime dramas when they could be doing something more educational and worthwhile? The parents shouldn't let their TV babysit their kids.
- DDRSkata, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14"I've been raped by the FCC
Bush wants to take all my freedom from me
I've been raped by the FCC
They wanna control what I hear and what I see"
Great song, dugg up your comment for the reference. The very last line of that song is especially applicable to this situation.
"If you're offended, TURN IT OFF!" - spikeismoo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16I saw no sex. I saw no breasts. They didn't even look like teenagers. All it looked like was a party with a few folk wearing nothing but underwear.
I must admit, I'm disappointed, not just because i didn't see nudity, but I'm also a bit confused about how this could be offensive at all. This happens every day in real life, if people can't take it being pretend they should open their eyes a little. - yellowbuddy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Nudity on prime time TV?
Wow, the one night I don't watch Without a Trace... - templest, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Why are people getting so worked up?
There were people without shirts wearing boxers and brasiers... making out.
I've seen more skin on Baywatch. Hell, I've seen more skin in an Old Navy commercial.
Utterly, utterly stupid. Words cannot describe my dissapointment in humanity right now. - Lemon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13@ HomoMaster
True, I'm pretty sure a television show has never dramatised an illegal act ever before. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+21I'll admit I didn't bother reading it and clicked on this just because it said "teen sex orgy." Digg for headline!
- missflibbles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Bull. There's a rating that comes up in the corner of the screen to warn you about the show, and your TV has a V chip. Why would you want to watch a serious, adult show with your kids and not be willing to let them see something adult? And if people don't want their teenaged children watching it, they can watch something else. It's called being a parent.
- tsuroki, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13North American culture puzzles me. Violence (animated or realistic) is a nonissue, and appears frequently in youth programming. But when it comes to sex (animated or realistic), all hell breaks loose. Selective sheltering indeed.
Now, back to the subject at hand - the clip itself isn't all that raunchy, imho. It just has an excessive amount of groping. Yes, I can see why some folks are getting in a fuss over it, but compared to the mediocre clip, the mass zealot rush from conservative drones is more bothersome. - mrmontrose, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Ok to start I am 23 years old grew up in a middle class nieghborhood, and orgies happen, more often than parents want to think. I have been in and know plenty of people that have been envolved in orgies or 3- ways or whatever(the stories I can tell). From my experience it is the more sheltered girls who involve themselves in stuff like this. It seems like i know so many girls that became sluts after going to college and away from mommy and daddy's watchful censoring eyes. Education is more important than censoring, education on how to be safe and careful. These things happen not because of TV, but human nature, it's in our nature to have sex why deny it? I have never gotten anyone pregnant or an std, and I get good grades and don't worship the devil. I really don't know whats so bad about it? I guess because the bible says it's bad it must be. (But then again the church says you can't use condoms or birth control.)
P.S. If your still a teenager you dreams can come true, older girls are less likely to be involved in an orgy. As sad in the movie dazed and confused "What I like about highschool girls is, I keep getting older, they stay the same age." - Smarterdanu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10no nudity, just simulated orgy-ness
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17If religious people like yourself really believe that God exists and cares about this sort of thing, and is going to do something about it, then why won't they STFU?
Why don't you let God take care of it and mind your own damn business? - hundrednorth, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12@Gahzinia:
"Why does one need to witness an event to upset about it? What about crime in your neighborhood? If you don't see your neighbor's house getting broken in to can you not want to correct the situation/prevent it from happening again?
What about the many many people that are going hungry every day? Do you see them? Do you try to help them out?"
Bollocks. Comparing this to a crime in your neighbourhood is ridiculous. A crime is not a subjective matter, unlike the highly debatable level of offensiveness of a brief TV scene. It's a TV show which you have complete control over witnessing or not. And these complainants not only didn't CHOOSE to NOT witness it, they didn't even know about it until after the fact. Movies, music, TV shows are highly subjective and many so-called offensive elements are contextual. I don't follow the show, but it makes sense to show some of the "orgy" in the form of a flashback from a character's POV when it comes to an episode dealing with an investigation. Did the scene go on too long? Were there gratuitous shots? Perhaps. But that's a matter for the VIEWER to decide. - Otto, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15No, people who mindlessly follow the orders of their leaders and complain about something that didn't actually affect them in any way are part of a cult.
And your TV has a VChip in it. Use it. - gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12The people in the clip have to be over 18. No problems there. Nothing is showing. Go to hell FCC!
