TOP 10 tips for maximum CTR in AdSense
wisdom-of-adsense.org — CTR is a key parameter for AdSense blogs/sites, so let's learn how to optimize it.
- 404 diggs
- digg it
- jacobo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i think digg.com makes a good use of borders and i like the 3 ads in the same line, but i don't know how they hide the text "Ads by Gooooogle" under the ads. Deal with google?
- EmileVictor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They are premium publishers, meaning that they get extra "perks", including the ability to blend ads easier into the site. Mind you, digg.com doesn't tend to use this strategy. :P
- fireflies, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1You can see those ads? *Shocked*
(Adblock) - n1cza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They do say "Ads by Google", on the top right. Some of the smaller square ad blocks have "Ads by Google" on the bottom right.
- ct2000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11talk about stating the obvious - The article is not telling us anything new
- podgey22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I'm pretty sure its a rip off another site... Its the way it ends: "So it's critical to create relevant resource for your web page. In order to do that, you must do the following steps."
And there are no following steps...
Edit: yeah look at the rest of the places this crap is posted:

I'll let you decide which came first. Reported as spam. - seopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6agreed, it's nothing new and it's re-iterating content found elsewhere basically. I'm entirely against the philosophy of ruining your website for the sake of adsense, and clearly disguising it as content is only going to be misleading.

- farksucks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Wow, what a surprise- to get higher clickthrough rates, disguise your ads as content on your page.
Is this what Web 2.0 has become? Trick your visitors into clicking on ads because they can't distinguish what is an ad, and what is content?
We are so *****.- zearth, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1yeah your right they making us fools
- signal15, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't say it's tricking them. I've become blind to anything that appears to be an ad out of the corner of my eye, which means just about anything that has a visible border. People aren't clicking on these ads without reading them first, they are just less likely to become blind to them, more likely to read them, and consequently, more likely to click them.

Some actually useful tips. - sciencebase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Funny how the ads on this tips page stand out like a sore thumb. I certainly wouldn't click them.
This is re-hashed cr*p from way back when - LarianLeQuella, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1***** Google AdSense!
- dyl0n, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0Noscript is your friend
- scooze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8actually it's not ... I have real friends. but thanks!
- deMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have had better success with image ads on some spots than text ads alone. It's not as simple as "text ads work better" like this might make you believe.
- darkpsy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3
On http://wisdom-of-adsense.org/?q=node/13 at the bottom it says:
10) Relevant ads. It's one of the most important factors for Adsense success. If the internet user can't find a relevant ad in your page, he or she won't click the ad. Would you act differently? So it's critical to create relevant resource for your web page. In order to do that, you must do the following steps.
Then a google adsense ad is there.
It is basically asking them to click the ads below - is this allowed? - JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+61. Seed your site with a few wacky/bizarre news stories and comments.
2. Allow users to sign up and do all your story-hunting work for you for free.
3. Allow other users to sift through the stories and find front-page-worthy ones for free as well.
4. Sign up site with AdSense.
5. Profit! - zevy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Obvious spam.
Now, if this gets that many diggs, I wonder why http://digg.com/software/Gmail_addresses_available_with_a_shorter_cooler_domain_name doesn't...- micro506, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4...This comment is a joke, right?
- Eisim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@zevy, you must be joking? the story you've submitted has got to be most ***** spam-crap i've ever seen on digg. do you plan to control a large number of accounts through hosted gmail? smart.
- zevy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@micro506 & Eisim, I was joking of course. My izi.jp story was a lost drop in the ocean of Digg, as to be expected, but apparently some people liked the idea and asked for an account, actually. I am not making anything out of this Google hosted, but I like the idea that GMail addresses can be using new domains. And I don't plan to "control" anything. I was honestly surprised that such a spam story could get so many diggs (267 so far) with nothing to offer than obvious not so good tips which have been posted many times anyway.
- illegalchuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5spam.
- symtic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nothing new...lame
- sunroof, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2inaccurate
- olegk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1spam
- sandyone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, this is clearly the lamest Adsense articles I've seen yet. anyone who is interested in optimizing adsense really needs to do A/B Testing on their own pages, a stupid guide like this is "adsense for dummies"
- afx1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Too bad he didn't follow his first rule with the left side ads.
- Crest444, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That entire site is made from ripped off copyrighted articles from other sites.
Buried.
