TIOTI To Combine Legitimate TV, Bittorent Feeds
techcrunch.com — There is a bit of buzz tonight about an upcoming TV download service called TIOTI, for “Tape it off the Internet.” It looks to combine legitimate television downloads (we’ve written about providers here) with Bittorent feeds and DVD purchases. It seems to have a nice wrapper, RSS subscriptions to shows, etc.

- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i received a beta test download, it wasn't impressive.
the torrents are from other sites (such as piratebay). they're essentially trying to create a community. still seems easier to use bit torrent straightup.- suntereo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mind sharing a login / password or posting some screenshots so we can have a peek?

- SillyDigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This story has been posted so many times I'm begining to think they are spamming us.
Anyway if you're looking to download TV show try these sites
http://thesprawl.se/ (EZTV)
http://tvrss.net/feeds/ (EZTV/VTV)

- suntereo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'm not sure what to think about this... I see other posts saying it started as a joke. Does anybody know what gives with TIOTI? I can't imagine somebody put that much work into that flash page just to trick people.

So let me get this straight...does it just draw upon piratebay and tvrss or something like that and conglomerate everything, because I can do that with Utorrent anyway.
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yes. but it also allows you to buy (available) legit shows from itunes too. it's trying to pull all of the (il)legal stuff together under one roof and form a community.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just wish networks would adopt torrents and simultaneously release shows in torrent form onto the internet the same time as they run them. That way I won't have to schedule my life around their stuff, they can insert however many commercials they want (local ones excluded, but they take up so little "prime time" television space it won't matter). I'd be happy (shows, yaay) - and they'd be happy (torrents take minimal bandwidth as soon as the seed is started, also they'd be able to officially track their online viewers and charge advertisers accordingly).
I think I wish for too much.
- Spazkake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I really love this service, the flikr of tv is an overplayed but accurate description.
