"Seems like this list isn't much more than the list than the list of most popular at mozilla.com" - tux234, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with nerveband. To many people hype firefox like theirs no tomorrow but there are other browsers out there that run as fast if not faster than it. The only benefit I see is its open source. However, I am not trying to say Firefox sucks ( because it doesn't) its just that it isn't the be-all, end-all browser.
- yagood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And BTW where is Tab Mix Plus and All-In-One Sidebar?! With these you don't need Duplicate Tab and SessionSaver and you get great functionality.
- Moocat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I found some on there I didn't know of (google preview) and it inspired me to grab session saver again. Also don't mind using the tabbed browsing. I don't mind the minor slowdown being on a cable connection but I guess I could see where you're coming from if you're on a 56k :p
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what?! Where's TabMixPlus and All-in-One Sidebar?!!!! Worst digg ever.
- misterpony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Please, someone submit another list. That would be great.
- toe_head2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a joke.
- keefer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seems like this list isn't much more than the list than the list of most popular at mozilla.com
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Many of these will significantly degrade the performance of your browser, so be aware of that before you load up on 50 different extensions.
Also, they don't have the Plain Text Links extension? That's ridiculous. It's my most used one. Every day I see websites that have non-clickable URLs written out somewhere. Before, I had to copy and paste it into the address bar to load the link. Now, I right-click and choose "Open URL in new tab". Much much better. - evanfrey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0where are the mouse guestures??????
- cvrefugee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No AdBlock?
- SirSid, on 05/27/2009, -0/+0another one
- llbbl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Adblock is the best frikken extension {period}.
- jonny5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah they are all pretty old extensions, their still good though
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, we haven't already had a bunch of Digg articles claiming they've got a list of the best Firefox extensions....
- Vladek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The writer forgot AdBlock, which is easily the #1 firefox extension, hands-down, no contest.
Too bad Jason Parker, the author, did leave an email address for feedback. - gnalakalaciath5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i can't believe it doesn't have:
Adblock
Colorful Tabs
GreaseMonkey
Restart Firefox
Sage
BugMeNot
Mouse Gestures
FasterFox
i could go on... - johaus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's most interesting is there is neither adblock or noscript. The two most useful extensions and the reason I push Firefox on people. Perhaps because cNet/Download rely on obnoxious script ads? Self-preservation makes sense, but don't leave out the best just because you are paranoid. Let people judge for themselves and your site might even be better for it; there is a reason Google's ads are so successful.

http://www.digg.com/technology/50_Best_Firefox_Extensions_for_Power_Surfing - tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good damnit, what's with these "Best" lists?
- johaus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Regarding the posts annoyed that this is showing up on the front page.
Remember what digg is. Obviously this is of interest to people or it wouldn't make it up the chain. I agree that this has been posted numerous times before, I still check out the dugg list Wired made weeks ago.
Perhaps the problem is not with the article, but with digg itself. It would be nice if there were a way to link repetitive posts to a "mother of all posts" concerning popular topics. Then the digg community could decide which submission was the best, in democratic digg fashion. A perfect trial run would have been today and all the posts concerning the possible Google PC. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, lots of those list started to appear on the front page recently.... Must be something about year 2005 ending / year 2006 starting
- tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Hmmm, Opera is too....Netscape-ish. And it is not really hype, it is the fact that Firefox is the newest web browser to hit the market. And if you like Opera, try SeaMonkey, its up and coming."
You do know that Firefox is a modified version of Netscape's source code right? It's a great browser, but Opera is an awesome browser too. Most people are spreading firefox more than Opera, and I like Opera better too because it's faster. - borderpatrol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Where is fasterfox?
- notman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What is with these stupid ass lists? These things keep getting posted and they always miss out on some of the key extensions. These posts are truly idiotic. Who even cares what the 'best' ones are? Isn't that the point of the extensions? So that you can modify the browser to what is best for you?
- tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha I meant God.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0how many of these stories are we going to have on Digg?
digg sucks worse than slashdot now. - stealbelow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0
I posted about this campaign on my blog back on December 3rd. I have some links to pictures as well as some pictures of what some of the local graffiti artists did to show their disapproval of the "ads"
http://stealbelow.wordpress.com/2005/12/03/sonys-fony-graffiti/ - got80s, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yeah this is lame...i think it was best covered by the wired or pc mag one..... i can't figure out why stories that Wikipedia needs help haven't surfaced to the front page??

Oops...that was for the sony graffiti story...submitted my comment to the wrong tab I had open :S - Wabem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hmmm, Opera is too....Netscape-ish. And it is not really hype, it is the fact that Firefox is the newest web browser to hit the market. And if you like Opera, try SeaMonkey, its up and coming.
- gekkokid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0cant they just do the BEST ONE and then we wont have these stories submitted on digg, i could use a search engine to find firefox extensions
- sdub, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Oooh! Another "best Firefox extensions" link. We haven't had 10 yet today. Diggless.
- creoleplane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I don't really see how Opera is anything like Netscape. If anything Firefox is to IEish. Opera includes a lot of the features in it's base download that Firefox requires you go and seek out plugins for. Not to mention it's a smaller download too. I've used Opera for 4 years now and will never touch anything else. I have yet to find a browser that is as feature packed while still maintaining it's small size or one that is anywhere near as fast as Opera is. Now that Opera is no longer a purchase to use browser and is 100 percent free I don't see any reason for all you Firefox fanboys to give it a second look.
- NerveBand, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0First off, whats with the hype of firefox.
I wish people would take their time to learn about other great browsers that actually work faster than firefox. Namely Opera.
I have been using Opera for the past 5 years and bought myself a license in the past as well. it was well worth it. I always loved how Opera included lots of features in for default without putting a hefty download size.
Comparing Opera to Firefox, Opera is 4/5 the Size of Firefox.
And it even includes more features than Firefox such as a mail app, rss reader, irc client, one click to delete private data and even more.
I wish people would stop hyping Firefox.
Undigged. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0We need to start a THISISLAME.com site so that we can encourage people to +lame stupid "articles" like this and get them off the front page.
- spiderland, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Another top whatever list. Voted lame as well.
- synmoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0No more of these.. please... voted lame.
- johnkimble, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0THE BEST ? 100 more of these need to pop up. no diggity.
