- okayokayokay, on 06/17/2009, -2/+20I love TED. It makes me feel smarter.
Also, digg the follow-up interview with this guy on Iran:
http://digg.com/world_news/TED_Blog_Q_A_with_Clay_ ... - Thoku, on 06/17/2009, -0/+11Every time I watch Clay Shirky speak I realise that he actually gets it. The web, media and all that jazz. I just hope someone in government or a large media organisation will listen to him.
- user24, on 06/17/2009, -2/+12TED rocks. that is all.
- Vulphaestion, on 06/17/2009, -2/+10A bald Tom Hanks? Anyone?
- fungaijames, on 06/17/2009, -2/+9I agree. I've been watching many TED talks over the last month, and sometimes rewatching talks I have seen before. It's like a daily lecture from some of the leading minds in the world, an insight into years of work and research by the most curious, most enlightened and most focussed thinkers in the world- for absolutely free. It's a gobsmacking reality.
- christoast, on 06/17/2009, -0/+6haha, the 10th one was kittens on a treadmill
- calebian, on 06/17/2009, -0/+6It's crazy that China is cutting off Twitter from its citizens
- bringitontimx, on 06/17/2009, -0/+6I was thinking of Ted as in United, and how if the Flight 447 passengers had these things available, we might know what happened.
- jakswa, on 06/17/2009, -1/+4Saw this yesterday and all I thought about was how it true it is for Iran currently.
- Lonandubh, on 06/17/2009, -0/+237 minutes is More concise?
- danesis, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2I had Clay Shirky as a professor at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program, the man is a genius. I remember his classes discussing concepts of social networking models like FaceBook, MySpace and GPS-based tools way before they even existed back in 2001.
- malex, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2***** your spam.
- PanicAK, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Poor MySpace
- homercles337, on 06/17/2009, -4/+6God damn it, im sooooo tired of hearing about twitter and the ***** that use it.
- Railz, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Twitter is often the first thing thing to mention anything. SMS and cellphones straight to twitter are faster then having to upload a video from a phone. You obviously want both, but twitter is still the fastest.
- DulcetTone, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2TED used to be really cool. A lot of this appeal was apparently the paucity of mention allotted to it.
- devilgoob, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2was from Wisconsin, don't ***** with us.
- collution, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Yea, watch the video or stfu.
- Deepmist, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Even the description says censorship is a brief part of the video.
- jordanlgta, on 06/18/2009, -1/+3No. It doesn't. But I totally applaud your effort to get positive diggs (your only reason for saying that).
- nathanbutnet, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2Good speech and ends with a cliffhanger. I love cliffhangers.
- consciousman, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Obama and Dean are the people responsible for taking social networking to another level in politics. Social Networking is going to also help deliver Helthcare reform.
- applebyter, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1if only we had...good thought
- 68024, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2Dugg for 'kittens on a treadmill'...
- URnotheonly1, on 06/17/2009, -2/+3You guy's need to wake up, the Internet is being framed as a untrusted and dangerous things by what I suspect is the established print media. Look for more negative stories on the dangers of the Internet. NYT is done losing money to these Internets.
- kungfool101, on 06/18/2009, -1/+2I dugg this... right... because I believe... right... that his message... right... is correct. I mean... right.
- hayes321, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1TED, the most pretentious group of people ever.
- sjm20k, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1Up next: Photo of suit with "can do" attitude. Article headline: Think Tank: How what everybody knows has already happened, will soon happen.
- Conway, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1Yes they do.
http://i41.tinypic.com/swebdy.jpg - mathyu21, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1Chinese govt needs to get with the program
- YojanV, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1TED rocks, I concur. But are you sure that that is all? No expansion of comments needed? Nothing to add regarding legalising Cannabis and/or file-sharing? No ASCII art? No gratuitous swearing or cult-references or porn?
Are you sure you're on the right website, user24? - Dotcommer, on 06/18/2009, -2/+3Wtf? TED is incredible! You clearly don't appreciate what it does...
- ButterBuddha, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1Meh, a little. Obviously, Tom Hanks' ears don't stick out that much...
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1but, but, people on United Flight 93 were able to talk on cell phones for over 20 minutes....
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -2/+2I don't agree with that. Mostly it's a bunch of pretentious people getting together in circle-jerk formation to congratulate each other on being a Smart Person in the 21st Century and tossing around lofty visions that they claim are "revolutionary", but are usually quite shallow and lack any detail.
You can get all these ideas, but with actual depth by reading books. - jordanlgta, on 06/18/2009, -3/+3I'm really tired of people talking about TED. I thought it was a once-a-year convention or something, but now apparently they post stuff all year long. Wonderful...
- jordanlgta, on 06/18/2009, -2/+2dugg down for idiot
(and yes, I fully expect to be dugg down, but the difference is that I don't care)
(now I'm predicting someone is going to make a comment about what I just wrote)
(now I'm predicting someone is going to think they're funny when they reply sarcastically to me beginning with the words "im predicting that jordanlgta _________"...how original) - DUD3sweet, on 06/17/2009, -2/+2I was thinking the same exact thing! right--
- TigerFist, on 06/17/2009, -3/+2Blowfish crypto, ftw
- inactive, on 06/17/2009, -3/+1i really can't take it anymore. people saying "twitter revolution" this is BS. they are using everything on the internet. not just twitter. Flickr and Youtube are more effective. Twitter is just a BS front which the media uses to describe the internet revolution. and in all seriousness. the people in Iran aren't using these stuff. they know where to meet. they know the locals. for gods sake there are millions in the street, of course thats where you meet. This stuff is only helping the media get their info, and that is why they think Twitter is the reason for the revolution.
- Dotcommer, on 06/18/2009, -3/+1No, I'm just going to call you a fag, and bury you both.
DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING EH BITCH? Can't be right ALL the time. - r1ptide64, on 06/17/2009, -5/+3dugg for TED
- okcoolok1234, on 06/17/2009, -3/+1This is a bit more concise
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1fMJlIK8XY - timothywcrane, on 06/18/2009, -2/+0Does anyone know if you can get high speed in Cuba? I know of a few guys at Guantanamo that needed some youtube uploading capability. I am not taking sides, I am just saying that the truth "usually" comes out in the wash. I wonder if any of the oppressed are getting paid for their writing? That is not an accusation, but a good question. Money has been around for a while too, and as I truly believe that the Iranian tweets and other social media reports were real, I find it funny that protesters from a Farsi speaking country just "out of the blue" decided to make 1/3 of all of their protest signs in English, where hardly anyone speaks it. If all it takes is a little social media to make things right, then maybe things in the US would be a "chad" bit different too.
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -3/+0I'm sorry, but this is REALLY stupid. The only reason stupid, useless, and time wasting sites like this will ever make it into the history books is if stupid people allowed it to through social engineering. Which is exactly just how these things got popular in the first place.
I really hate the fact that people hail every stupid little thing nowadays as groundbreaking and historic. -
