- OverThere, on 10/10/2007, -0/+79All I ask on my SysAdmin day:
- please refrain from asking me to find that file you deleted last week.
- don't ask me to play the "help-desk" role because you are retarded and can't use outlook.
- and if you forgot your f-ing password again.... guess what? Your ***** ain't working until Monday.
- and beer. bring me beer. - vroom101, on 10/10/2007, -3/+75Give your SysAdmin a big increase in pay and starting today, a stress-free 40-hour work week.
- sagat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+57Typical the one day I take off and it's my Appreciation day. They wont even notice me gone from the office, unless of course I remotely take down the network. Muhahaha
- mcm297, on 10/10/2007, -1/+51Oddly enough, our sysadmin took off today from work, using a day of vacation.
- Rocketmac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+36We get recognition? I think 98% of people out there have either forgotten how to read or don't give two shiats in a bucket.
Today is the only day that we can say "All your base are belong to us" and you mere non-tech mortals have to suffer through. - scoot2006, on 10/10/2007, -3/+31LOL.. SysAdmin having a 40 hour work week. You're silly.
- modad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24The best gift I could give the system administrator is to not show up for work, so I won't.
- stauken, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26There is an "administrative assistant appreciation day" where my company recognizes the hard work of the secretary answering all the phones and what not. You tell me why we don't deserve something similar. Punk.
- deltaray, on 10/10/2007, -6/+27praise your sysadmin today :D!
- frozenyoghurt, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22Are those cats supposed to be in that box?
- stauken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18I'd get written up if I tried to show this to any of my bosses. System Administration is a thankless job and if you try to warrant that thanks, you get disciplined.
- antpruitt, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Props to the sysadmins out there
- dimplemonkey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17We support you 24/7, 365 days a year and all you're giving us in return is ONE DAY! Shirley, you must be serious!
- shertzerj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16So did my boss. That leaves me as main sysadmin for the day though, so any party cakes and cookies now belong to ME. Mwaha
- astrotrain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Until you get the horde of EndUsers coming at you like Night of the Living Dead.... but now they're screaming and moaning... 'Help us Sysadmin.....'
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -9/+24Yeah, right. System Administrator Appreciation Day. What better way to spread word than post on a site where 50% of the users are probably System Admins. Give yourselves a pat on the back!
- rzurad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15they are serious. And don't call them Shirley.
- 0crabby0, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17In celebration of System Admin Appreciation Day, I will not look at porn on the clock.
(edit)
Too late... - ian6800, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15So this is why the phone hasnt rung today!
- stauken, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16I WISH I wasn't a System Administrator, seriously. What is there to be jealous of? We're underpaid, underappreciated, and generally overworked.
- bytecolor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14It's BOFH Day!
- sirber, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I wish I could take that day off :)
- redfox2600, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15I'll block your entire subnet you stupid lamer. You have been banned from the internet please turn in your modem to your ISP.
- josegutz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14How about starting off with some cool office games like bumper chair fight, hide the annoying cell phone in the ceiling, or chase the flaming paper airplane...I have paper cups and hairspray!! Yaayyy!
Unfortunately, I never have time for ANY of these games since they have me at their beck and call 24/7....Hmmmmm...That vacation day looks good about now. - benb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14I love how the acronym is SAAD.
- Kenzan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Without us, your work would come to a crashing halt.
Don't piss us off. We read your email. - nfollmer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I do!
- nfollmer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12You obviously have never been a system admin. You wouldn't be a smart ass if you were......jealous
- amnezia22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12yeah im sure most sysadmins spend all their day spamming Digg...work harder
- Dpack1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Yeah, they upgrade your RAM
- Dpack1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12You weren't hugged much as a child were you unreg? or is it that Daddy hugged you too much???
- solemnraven, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11awesome idea, but no one gives a ***** about us till something breaks.
But it seems fate sees it fit to at least make today a slow day ^_^.
me = not complaining. - Trebek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Actually, it is beck and call.
http://www.usingenglish.com/reference/idioms/beck+and+call.html - Scyth3, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14What if your sysadmin sucks ass? Does that mean we should still give them appreciation?
Oh, and how about a Developer Appreciation Day? That's where QA and the Requirements people can come and apologize for making our lives hell. - Rocketmac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10"LOL.. SysAdmin having a 40 hour work week. You're silly."
Psh... That's way too easy... If you consider a work week to be Montuesday. - stauken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Someone needs the SysAdmin to adjust the year on their calendar. Yes you can has wrong date!
- GetShorty, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10It was submitted over 17 hours ago, genius.
- jibijibi, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12how about a day not only for the sysAdmin, but also the one person who does all of these: sysAdmin, sysDev, AppDeb, AppTester, DBAdim, DBDev, PC-Support-Tech at the same time. Men, I need a day off!
- Psyferre, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9And in a bizarre twist of fate within a couple hours of midnight I had a server meltdown, stayed up all night at our colo rebuilding, and an hour after i get home to catch some ZZz's another one goes down... And everything was so peaceful 24 hours ago... Happy Sysadmin Day! :)
- jeffeb3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I thought it was saying tomorrow (now Saturday) was sysadmin day. Rightfully, about the only people here on Saturdays are sys admins making changes that interfere with the mon-fridayers....
- nobody554, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Tell me that when your connection to the network fails and I refuse to fix it.
- jason469, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10GG System Admins. You are the backbone support of the infrastructure. Good stuff dudes.
So, I guess for today you guys can say: All Your Base Are Belong to US?
Sorry, I had to do it. :) - AnarkeIncarnate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9If your sysadmin is fixing your mouse, you don't have a sysadmin. That is akin to saying you put your cassette into your Blu-Ray player. Sysadmins set up servers, configure applications, and manage overall health of machines. These are NOT your laptops and PCs. You must be confused with the Help Desk.
- astrotrain, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10We fight fires of all sorts.. .including when servers themselves start to smoke and spark!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9***** off, whiner. You try it for just one week...
- Dpack1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8We do, however, work on Caturdays
- LoudNoise, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11If I wasn't here rescuing them from their own retarded attempts at using a computer, there would be no office. Nothing would work, and they would not be able to get any work done or ship anything. Without me, the guys making stuff don't have a job.
That makes it kind of important. - josegutz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Thanks bro...
