- Bornhuetter, on 06/19/2008, -0/+151Because Sweden is such a big terrorist target...
- vfreak2, on 06/19/2008, -1/+137Definitely a step backwards to 1984.
- GoKings, on 06/20/2008, -0/+127It isn't just America. It's sweeping worldwide, and it's getting pretty damn scary.
- Joinsimon, on 06/19/2008, -0/+105Despite the fact that there were many so called "libertarians" in the parliament, none of them stood up and voted against this law. Really, really sad...
- sega01, on 06/19/2008, -0/+78:'('''''''''''''''''' This is horrible. Google even said that they would not build any datacenters in Sweden if the bill passed. Hopefully something can be done about it.
- spydon, on 06/19/2008, -0/+77This is so sick :'(
- Revolutionista, on 06/20/2008, -0/+76Say hello to Big Brother for us.
Nevermind... I just did. - Kasot, on 06/19/2008, -1/+75:'(

damn Trendsetter... - DaniCaliforniaS, on 06/20/2008, -0/+50Hey at least the sweden government admits it....
- doktorrocket, on 06/20/2008, -0/+42I can't recall who said it, but..."The dark night of fascism is always descending on America, but it always seems to land in Europe."
- tidu, on 06/20/2008, -3/+44ONLINE protests? Wow, who can resist that?
- dinostabOMG, on 06/20/2008, -0/+40Aye. Didn't even Osama bin Laden single out Sweden as a Western country that wasn't under threat from al Qaeda?
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -4/+42Dear swedes we are sorry our current president spread his fear mongering to your country. We are all deeply sorry for giving governments around the world the idea of how to rob you of freedoms, sorry - America
- nirvanix, on 06/20/2008, -0/+36What I want to know is why governments all over the world are pushing forward with these types of reforms. On the same day, Gordon Brown said that he would harvest the organs of newly deceased British without their consent. I mean WTF!
I didn't believe there was some sort of organized NWO, but I'm starting to believe it. We are actually becoming slaves right before our eyes. - smashingmonkey, on 06/20/2008, -3/+36We have it so good... someday (soon) people will long for the types of freedoms which we take for granted now.
- trenchcoat, on 06/20/2008, -0/+31But they're still censoring in China right?
- davidbeile, on 06/20/2008, -0/+29Wiretapping is wrong. Hopefully this new law will be repealed soon. Take Action!
- poiuytrewq44, on 06/20/2008, -1/+28What. The. *****!!! Sweden has always been a bastion of sanity and liberty even since the middle ages. Their royalty always took such great care of their people. How could their parliament do this? When did this change?!?
- Hetman, on 06/20/2008, -1/+27And this will happen in America if allow congress to grant immunity to telecommunications companies. It will be the end of the 4th amendment.
- kakwakas, on 06/20/2008, -1/+23And also wiretaps.
- subterfuge, on 06/20/2008, -0/+21yeah, but censorship is different from wiretapping. i'm not saying censorship is ok, just that it doesn't invade privacy
- subterfuge, on 06/20/2008, -0/+21Come to America, the land of the truly free*.
*Tax payments necessary. Must be 21 or older to enter. Void where warrants aren't necessary. Some tazing required. States' rights not included. Any resemblence to real freedom, living or dead, is purely coincidental. - nakani, on 06/20/2008, -0/+20Here's the link : http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/29/bin.lade ...
an interesting quote: "Your security is not in the hands of [Democratic presidential nominee John] Kerry or Bush or al Qaeda. Your security is in your own hands. Any nation that does not attack us will not be attacked." - happytedium, on 06/20/2008, -0/+20Didn't expect this out of Sweden...
- dekki, on 06/20/2008, -2/+21First of I'm very against this law but there is a lot of misunderstandings about it.
The law gives the Swedish military radio intelligent (FRA) the right to intercept and record all wired communication passing the Swedish border, they already had permission for wireless. So the law does not give them the power to listen in on Swedes if they are communicating within the Swedish border. The reason the Swedish military want this law is because of our IT infrastructure. Lots of east European (Ryssen) internet traffics routes via Sweden and FRA wants to spy on it.
What is really sad is they way it was accepted and I do hope people remember this the next election. - Barnolde, on 06/20/2008, -1/+19Thanks to the internet, corruption, greed, fear, etc. your privacy is dead, your rights are gone and you will never get them back. The worst part is that you will accept it and you will like it. Subservience is a bitch.
George Orwell says "I told you so." - Lionhart, on 06/20/2008, -1/+19Uh this has been happening for about 5 years now in America.
- Unreal595, on 06/20/2008, -0/+18*****
- raxor, on 06/20/2008, -3/+20This is probably because PirateBay is in Sweden. Blame the MPAA/RIAA!
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -1/+18At least it was done publicly. Here in the States, they do it regardless of the legality. We have a dictator who circumvents congress and just makes decisions that seem to become law even though they are completely illegal. If you think the US is a free country or a country that regards the rule of law as a priority, I've got lakefront property in Death Valley at a bargain price!
I feel sorry for the Swedes. It'll be like creeping death. It's tentacles will slowly work their way throughout Scandinavia and they'll wake up slaves without knowing whatever happened. - ammundsen, on 06/20/2008, -0/+16A bunch of damn Quislings. Time to go berserker.
- Hetman, on 06/20/2008, -0/+15Yea but if you allow immunity they will get away with it. As the law stands now they can still be prosecuted for illegal wire taps.
- vonskippy, on 06/20/2008, -0/+14If they're legalizing it today, it means they've had the method to do so for a long time and have been "testing" it for months.
- deetank, on 06/20/2008, -2/+15haha funny joke
- zephyear, on 06/20/2008, -2/+15hope you learned your lesson for voting in the right wingers, sweden
- falafelkiosken, on 06/20/2008, -0/+13that's why I'll give the Pirate Party my vote in the next election
- krnldmp, on 06/20/2008, -3/+15That's kooky failure talk, son.
- dh122, on 06/20/2008, -1/+12Thank you for being one of the first to realize that the conservatives, not the socialists, pushed this through.
- skazhy, on 06/20/2008, -0/+11Big brother is watching you, swedes.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -2/+13Anyone remember the LA riots? I can only hope that if something like this happens in the states that people will stand up and go ***** crazy. I feel bad for the swedes but I'd riot if I were them.
- falafelkiosken, on 06/20/2008, -0/+10pretty true, we Europeans are always quick to criticizes US, but we're not any better (many of us are actually as stupid and ignorant as our own image of the common American)
- Lythia, on 06/20/2008, -2/+12My god! That is the best quote ever! Too funny! And so very true. :)
- masterm1nd, on 06/20/2008, -1/+11I've got some good news and some bad news...
- dinostabOMG, on 06/20/2008, -0/+10The reason this is a tragedy is because Sweden was miles ahead of us in the US in terms of human rights, and this law represents a major backslide. I know maybe you hadn't heard of Sweden until bittorrent, but their leftist reputation spans a lot farther back than this controversy.
- fokov, on 06/20/2008, -1/+11Yes, and they will look you in the eye and ask straight from their heart "Why did you allow them to steal our freedoms after everything the men before you did to provide you with the freedom you enjoyed? Why are we now suffering?"
And you will have to look them in their eyes and say "I was too lazy to do anything about it" - megarobotguy, on 06/20/2008, -0/+9Tom Wolfe.
