- DNordbak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I remember seeing this last week actually. I don't normally venture into the city much, even though i go to school close by, but it caught my attention. From a distance it is kind of hard to tell what it is, but once you get closer it becomes very clear.
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While I don't see anything useful about the prank, certainly nothing beyond pretending to make a statement... I *do* have a burning hatred for Clear Channel, so by all means ***** with them to your heart's content.
- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, no, don't really get this one.
- Don_Quixote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If that image is what I think it is on the right panel then the site is NSFW
- bmindful, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A prank is a way of using a joke to convey a message. Someone put in a pretty decent effort and risked arrest/fines to make it happen.
- akpak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0can someone explain the prank/joke? i don't get it. were a lot of people not aware that the secuirty camera was there or was it something funny in the picture?
- kinderstod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Another day, another lame story linking to a lame blog linking to a lame "new world artist". The blogosphere is now complete.
- linker3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Are we going for lamest Digg of the week with this one?
- ekai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0agreed with shibbay on this. if you don't get it, then i suppose it's already too late for you. it isn't about this specific camera as much as it is a statement about a society where surveillance is increasingly commonplace and like sheep, most people just accept it. george orwell, anyone? please, don't be that sheep.
- Flex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0uhhhhh...... what?
- 3rdMEgo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks to me like the camera was there to protect the cars parked in the parking lot....
/not afraid of "Big Bad Brother" - Export, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0article has a link back to this article, sounds like spam to me.
- daurkin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kind of cool but not digging it. I don't get the "prank" part of it.
- ekanes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0we need an anti-digg
- kblowers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heaven forbid a parking lot have a security camera to catch people stealing, vandalizing or whatever the cars that people pay to park in their lot...
I hate hippies... - Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>> we need an anti-digg
Seriously. The way things are going, I'll be headed straight *back* to Slashdot. Gimme a "NO DIGG" button, please! - rockyrobins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, that's kinda dumb. I mean, sure it's cool to blow up a picture like that, but I don't see what the big deal is about having a camera in a parking lot pointed out. Nor do I see what it has to do with Clear Channel. Unless it's their parkinglot. And then I still don't get it..
- Mysk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0> Looks to me like the camera was there to protect the cars parked in the parking lot....
ditto - infra172, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can I get that article in a language other than crazy hippie?
- haloevo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no digg, not that cool.
- Dingle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is anti-digg tool...report it as Lame. Its already off the front page.
- shibbay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The purpetrators are making it perfectly clear to everyone departing the city via 5th street to head home to the subburbs that SF is a city already under much surveillance, and the tracking of your activities will only be increasing."
"The prankster is using visual hyperbole to remind us the society and culture we have come to accept: surveillance cameras on all sides; facial recognition reviews; and even nation-wide car journey monitoring. If you can’t see a giant surveillance camera out your window, I don’t think you’re looking hard enough."
That's what the article is about. - imtigger2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0uhhhh... yea, this IS stooopid. Can I have the 3min back that I just wasted on this? Thanks, I'd appreciate it.
- BrightLibra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I suppose it was designed to make us "think" - and if you one of the "us" who doesn't think in the first place, maybe you get this... but I agree with Randyzaia, Jkfan87, and even Flex that it doesn't belong here on Digg. Not Dugg.
San Francisco is weird anyway... - CaptSnuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He says it as if Banksy invented street art
- randyzaia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Super retarded.
"In the style of Banksy"
Uh, it's not in the "style" of Banksy, it's a complete ripoff of Banksy, who isn't that brilliant to begin with.
"they are one the most rapacious corporations of the decade doing all they can to monopolize content distrubution and subverting choice preferences."
You are, of course, aware that you have thousands, if not millions more choice preferences for content than the average person did 15 years ago? There are plenty of alternatives; no one is forcing you to consume Clear Channel content.
"Heaven forbid a parking lot have a security camera to catch people stealing, vandalizing or whatever the cars that people pay to park in their lot..."
Amen. Ooooh - SCARY - parking lot owners are MONITORING THEIR PROPERTY WITH CAMERAS! BIG BROTHER HAS ARRIVED!!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool
