- PiMPSP, on 10/10/2007, -14/+46Uhh it's just gonna be a tracker..like the billions of other trackers out there, it's just the name that holds ''sentimental'' value for ppl.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23"Suprnova wasn’t perfect, but the really annoying thing was that there was no search feature. "
I remember using search on the site.. - Jeffrey903, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17Actually, I don't even think it will be a tracker. It will just be an aggregator (like Mininova), and will just be a giant collection of torrents (including all of the ones that are indexed by TPB).
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Suprnova never was a tracker. It's just a torrent dump .. where all public trackers meet.
- elfuego, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16I must say, when Suprnova originally went down... it sucked, but then we all found other sources. Another source for torrents is never a bad thing, and it's good to see the efforts to help out noobs, but I don't see myself switching from mininova anytime soon.
- Cowtastic, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Sweet revenge indeed
Now I have to go out and get that new hdd... - mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I didn't mean that in a bad way.. no reason to bury me.
I guess the proper terminology is "bittorrent index". - fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11No, it's just going to be a list of torrents surrounded by ads and rhetoric bound to a domain people have vague memories of enjoying.
- SimbaK2K, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Definitely was. It wasn't there at first but added later on in the sites life. Although occasionally went down :-S
- Ghoztt, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9HARRRRR!!! PIRATES WE AM!!!
- djspike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It's BTJunkie.org. n00b.
- Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I will probably use Suprnova because it's probably going to be more heavily moderated, meaning no fake torrents, mislabeled stuff, etc. I see those a lot on mininova.
- lcmatt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Exeem was riddled with ad ware and fell into the pit of failure.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The same? There is not much to be different about a torrent site. Since there are many more well established torrent sites out there now then there was back in SN's heyday, SN will never reach the popularity/status that it once had. Plus there is a whole new generation of torrent users out there who never even heard of SN.
- themastersb, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I'd like the old layout to be on there to give it a nostalgic feel.
- jawbreaker4fs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"One of the new features is a Java applet that allows you to download .torrent files without having a BitTorrent client installed. This is not only useful for newbies, but also if you’re working on a PC that doesn’t allow you to install a BitTorrent client like some workplaces or Universities have."
Does this make sense? Do newbies not understand right click, save target as? Perhaps this means that you can download the content associated with a .torrent file without a client (which would be really useful), but the way its written seems as though they're jumping through hoops to do something trivial. - Ocelot13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2its the content that its gonna download, not the actual .torrent file, i figured that would be like common sense
- MikeWanDo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Such as...
- frsrblch, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The correct verb usage for this sentence is "HARRRRR!!! PIRATES WE BE!!!" Also note that "HARRRR!!! WE BE PIRATES!!!" would also be acceptable, and that the "HARRRR!!!" may be exchanged with a "YARRRR!!!"
And don't forget to simulate the effects of years of alcohol abuse and salt air with a stiff drink. - qwuinc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The users submit torrent files (that contain URL(s) for the tracker(s)).
See http://www.mininova.org/upload - KungFuJesus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1are you retarded son? You do realize that many countries use . instead of , and , instead of . right? it means 25,000 and 1 million
- sark666, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2How does a site like mininova (that doesn't have it's own tracker) have all its torrents? I mean do users submit them? Is there some means of 'sniffing' popular trackers and getting all the torrents?
- h0dg3s, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2"Upon its release it will crawl more than 25.000 trackers and have a database of more than 1.000.000 torrents."
So once you drop the 0's on those decimals it reads
Upon its release it will crawl more than 25 trackers and have a database of more than 1 torrents. - cloudyprison, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yar, har, feedle-dee!
- h0dg3s, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Maybe because you're going to the wrong website.
- riomx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Mininova rawks
- PiMPSP, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Ya my bad guys, indexer/aggregator would be right
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Hooray! A win for the criminals! Take that, copyright laws!
/sarcasm - mare88, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Btw, whatever happened to that p2p-torrent-ish program (can't remember it's name) slonček released after shutting down suprnova?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Not all of them. There is not moderation like there is on private trackers. By moderation, I mean actual mods who do stuff, not just remove torrents. You obviously don't know what moderation means. And no, just by reporting a torrent, they don't always get removed.
- andsoitgoes42, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I was heartbroken when Supernova died, and then it came back, and I could have cared less. Demonoid and Isohunt are more than enough for me, I need comments on torrents before I accidentally get a shot of Dustin Diamond doing a dirty sanchez when I was trying to get something hot and sexi (no offense to those who think Dustin's face wiping was hot)
- Predator04, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1lol is that a joke? o do you notknwo what your talking about>? i agree with the public tracker it will never be as good as a private. but there is moderation in public sites.. all of them have moderation so i have no idea what you are talking about.. you ever notice on a public tracker if the torrent is fake. And if people report it, it gets removed?
- Appleboi4evr, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2are they hosting them on the same servers as thepiretbay.org? i noticed earlier on today all the torrent listing weren't showing up on thepiratebay. but the site pages were showing up, just no torrent listings.
- zookeeperme, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Hooray! Another public tracker for me to not go to because I don't particularly care to upload to a site that a) cares nothing for my security, and b) allows H&R to flourish.
- PiMPSP, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Possibly, but for me it has no sentimental value, I'm sure I will visit it enough times but lets just say i'm not as *excited* as some for it;s return, I was'nt there for its begginnings I was on irc l33chin at that point.
- ThreeDee912, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3Now all we have to do it get rid of suprnova.com.
- PaulyNewsome, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1@ PiMPSP
Uhh, it's just another tracker that everyone will use. The Google of trackers? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0Torrentspy doesn't have a tracker either. They're indexing sites, moron.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1I love Suprnova, but it's a public tracker, and it's never going to be anywhere near as great as TorrentLeech or Bitsoup. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes about public trackers, but what I hate the most is that there is no kind of moderation, and even if it's public, there still should be some kind of moderation, because people upload fake torrents, and virus infected ones, and a lot of people are retarded and download them.
I know I'll be using Suprnova, just like I use The Pirate Bay, but I don't think it's ever going to be as great as any private tracker. - aahpandasrun, on 10/10/2007, -9/+1Well, they should make it more than just an average tracker. How about adding some new features?
