I feel like I'm in a time machine. - hogfoot, on 01/14/2009, -0/+62Nothing like a little modem humor.
- bushout, on 01/14/2009, -1/+60These must be real, otherwise they'd be clever/funny.
Just like this comment. - atm259, on 01/14/2009, -1/+57 * Tech Support: "How may I help you today?"
* Me: "Hi, I was wondering if you could open some ports on my connection. I need them open for this game I have, and I've opened them on my end, but the game says that you should also open your end as well."
* Tech Support: "So you want to stick your game into the modem?"
* Me: "No, I want you to open some ports so I can play the game."
* Tech Support: "Sir, you cannot stick a game into your modem, you need a computer to stick the game into--"
* Me: "Ummm, I don't want to stick the game into my modem, I want you to O-P-E-N P-O-R-T-S!!!"
* Tech Support: "There's a cdrom drive on your computer. If you press the button that is next to or says 'cdrom drive,' a thing that looks like a cup holder will come out. Stick your game--"
* Me: "!@#$*!@%"
Win. - Narcism, on 01/14/2009, -2/+48But alas, what you may have already seen, might be new to some people.
- Chamrox, on 01/14/2009, -8/+49I started reading, then I realized there was no funny, then I stopped.
- vegetables, on 01/14/2009, -0/+34That logo was legitimately drawn with MSPaint
- Fenric, on 01/14/2009, -1/+30The design hasn't changed since 1999 - http://web.archive.org/web/19991012053221/http://r ...
That's ***** commitment right there! - inactive, on 01/14/2009, -3/+31Oh the joys of tech support.
I remember once someone said their internet wasn't working.
A half hour later I realized she was talking about her tower and monitor being off. O.O - wampalord, on 01/14/2009, -2/+29Verily, this be new information to my eyes
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -0/+22Great one FTA:
Problem Description: Client wants to know the MAC address for the computer. Advise client that I have no way of knowing or obtaining that information. Advise client that she would more than likely need to call Apple to see if they could point her in the direction of obtaining that. Client says that the MAC address is not a macintosh address. Client says that the MAC address can be obtained by doing an ipconfig /all. Client ended up disconnecting the call. During the call I believe I could hear someone else listening. Just before the call was ended by the client there was a something faintly said but I could not make it out. - DJMattB241, on 01/14/2009, -0/+21THIS IS CAPS LOCK
- Endemoniada, on 01/14/2009, -0/+17DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
Kind of funny for a site built with tables, and made to look like it's 10 years old :) - serif69, on 01/14/2009, -0/+17This is old enough that it's come back into style again.
- a1cd, on 01/14/2009, -0/+14If you have ever used HP online chat text support they always tell you to restart your computer, that kinda has the problem of completely cutting you off from the tech support agent :/
- R031E5, on 01/14/2009, -0/+13Look at the copyright: "Copyright © 1996-2008 by Samuel Stoddard".
Oh, and please take a look at the source, they still use tables. - jba68, on 01/14/2009, -1/+14It is so old, they may not grasp what is funny and what is actually not
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -0/+12A recent post from real IT people, and much more funny.
http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/25609 - tomato1324, on 01/14/2009, -1/+12after the first few it gets kinda boring
- MattB123, on 01/14/2009, -0/+11You don't hear many stories about upgrading from CGA to VGA anymore!
- slunktoday, on 01/14/2009, -1/+11They all look like user error to me.
- AtomicTheory, on 01/14/2009, -1/+11Half of these "accounts" are ***** anyway, so they might as well make them as funny as possible.
- bryceman111, on 01/14/2009, -1/+10Tech Support: "Sir, have you put any cheese or mustard in your a drive?"
- MrPatriotMan, on 01/14/2009, -0/+9This is a repost on digg 3 years 163 days ago
http://digg.com/tech_news/Hilariously_Stupid_Tech_ ... - t0ny, on 01/14/2009, -1/+8After I first go cable internet before we had cable tv my mom's boyfriend decided to make a drive way for our motor home. Well in the process of doing that he cut the cable. Well I called cableone and asked them to come and fix it and they said they wont fix it because the "cable" is only used for tv and that if I had problem I had to call the internet department. After going back and forth a few times and three days my friend had the idea of just lying and telling them I had cable tv also. They came out the next day and fixed the cable.
- jba68, on 01/14/2009, -0/+7helps to ask questions that bring the true issue to bare.
- iDiggYa, on 01/14/2009, -0/+7This is new to me, but I can see how old and understand how hilarious they are.
Tech Support: "Sir, have you put any cheese or mustard in your a drive?" - Zarokima, on 01/14/2009, -0/+7Which is probably why they called tech support.
- Nosferotu, on 01/14/2009, -3/+10This is stupid.
- Meltz014, on 01/14/2009, -0/+7yes, you are
- sinembarg0, on 01/15/2009, -0/+6yes, a whole half.
- JoeSamo, on 01/14/2009, -1/+7the people asking these questions are pretty stupid also..
- xz9925, on 01/14/2009, -2/+8i dont think those were posted yesterday.. i would say prolly posted back in the late 90's
- acmaurer, on 01/13/2009, -2/+8Ha, love the BSOD story!
- Herostratus, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6It took you a whole half hour to figure that out???
- jonmlm, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5hah. the customer is always right... months after the fact when they get to sum up their story for friends.
- onederboy, on 01/15/2009, -0/+5I found this one funny
Tech Support: "Sir, have you put any cheese or mustard in your a drive?"
Customer: "What? Did you just ask me if I put cheese or mustard in my floppy drive?"
Tech Support: "Yeah, we've had that happen a lot lately."
But yeah, otherwise they aren't too great. - Endemoniada, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5I get that this might be new to some people, but I'm thinking that due to all the references to ancient hardware and deprecated services, it might only be really funny to those that have read it 5 times already. I seem to find myself on the same list at least once every year, and even though it's still pretty funny, it really is old by now. Isn't there any site that lists NEW submissions anywhere?
- gizram84, on 05/30/2009, -0/+5really?
- TedsGame, on 01/14/2009, -1/+6Actually, in all fairness, its kinda old
- gixxer600, on 01/15/2009, -0/+5"What? Did you just ask me if I put cheese or mustard in my floppy drive?"
- retral, on 01/14/2009, -1/+6That's a lot of tech support bloopers.
- OswaldKenobi, on 01/15/2009, -0/+5If the caller knew how to obtain the MAC address, why was he calling to ask for it? This is definitely fake.
- brightshadow525, on 01/15/2009, -2/+7THIS IS SPARTA
- geodebug, on 01/15/2009, -0/+5Oh crap, have my HTML skills become so dated that tables will make me look like a fossil?
Been spending way too much time programing the back end I guess. - scottreed, on 01/14/2009, -1/+6Half the time you can't understand the guy, the other half of the time it turns out something like these.
- ramzavala, on 01/14/2009, -1/+5I don't know who to feel more sorry for, you or the user.
- MavRevMatt, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Sadly Digg is no longer about recent newsworthy articles.
- jparkinson, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Even if these are *****... for every one of these, there are a thousand stories of end users being absolutely retarded.
They seem pretty made up, there's no way all these 'IT Managers' are so retarded, and why the hell is an IT Manager taking care of tickets anyway? -
