- ElBeh, on 01/08/2009, -0/+83***** it (the RIAA), we'll do it live.
- markbrown, on 01/09/2009, -0/+59Dear RIAA,
Die in a fire. You're more unwanted than a prom night pregnancy.
Sincerely,
Everyone - Jordan117, on 01/08/2009, -0/+25"And that's where we stand at the moment. The RIAA has stopped suing (for now), though the cases against Tenenbaum and others continue apace. Nesson wants the trial broadcast to the world, while the RIAA considers the question. Assuming that the RIAA's goal all along has been in large part educational, one could hardly imagine something more educational to millions of file-swappers than watching a high-profile trial live on the web, but we shall see what we shall see."
What an interesting state of affairs. This feels like a turning point for some reason. - JackSchittt, on 01/09/2009, -1/+26So let me get this right. They want to interview his friends to see if he ever gave them any burned CDs. And they want to check his parents' computer to see if he ever downloaded anything on it?
Since when does someone have to provide evidence so the RIAA can go on a fishing expidition looking for more stuff to sue him for? - IamNomad, on 01/08/2009, -1/+24this would be great. I'de love to see the RIAA get their own legal arguement thrown back at them live.
***** put it on pay per view - FearSonic, on 01/09/2009, -4/+20Prom night pregnancies can have positive effects, such as a wonderful child being born.
The RIAA on the other hand, is everything wrong with the anti-piracy movement. - TonyLocNE, on 01/09/2009, -0/+12Fake.
No one uses Kazaa anymore... - adkenc, on 01/09/2009, -1/+11"(Nesson is not, it should be noted, a fan of capital letters.) "
I'm not sure WHY it should be noted, but whatever. while we're noting things, that should probably say: Nesson, it should be noted, is not a fan of capital letters. - sccrplyr40, on 01/09/2009, -0/+10If i were an ISP, i wouldnt want to turn off people's internet when i get $20+ a month from them. Plus, they would just pick another ISP, and I would end up with lost business.
- DickyT83, on 01/09/2009, -0/+8I just want to see the bullets that the RIAA will be sweating off.
- Njon, on 01/09/2009, -1/+8People who own copyrights have the right to protect their business interests; that's understandable. But the RIAA is not reasonable in its approach; it's a lunatic cartel of greedy corporatists who want to show off their iron fist by selectively oppressing people in order to make exorbitant amounts of money via unjustifiably-high court rulings.
- bbqsalad, on 01/09/2009, -1/+8The RIAA makes me wanna puke
- MadHarvey, on 01/09/2009, -0/+6Are you face palming yourself? Or the other poster, because he is right about your previous post having nothing to do with the RIAA....
- fxu1989, on 01/09/2009, -0/+6The RIAA is like an STD.
No punchline. They ARE an STD. - inactive, on 01/09/2009, -0/+6I'd love to see more trials done online, open to public scrutiny. The web is the greatest fact checking tool ever conceived because it's powered by billions of super super super computers, humans.
- Phocion55, on 01/09/2009, -2/+8You didn't your sentence
- inactive, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5It's more than 20/month for an ISP. Attracting new customers is magnitudes more expensive than retaining old ones, hence the reason your cell phone company will offer you better deals when you call to cancel / renegotiate. Not to mention people usually just forget about ISP service and keep it for long durrations ($20 x 12months x 2years) = 480 lost. So before they start dropping people, they should really think about it...
- TheInformer, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5The sweat that percolates in the folds of Rosie O'Donnell's fat is worth more than the RIAA.
- TonyLocNE, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Next on his agenda...
Nesson v. Capital Letters
The jury will hear each side's opening statements sometime in the near future. - prowlerjm, on 01/09/2009, -3/+7***** thing sucks!
- thedivinelyevil, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4for me the pause gives it a less serious note, almost humorous. it's used well because the little tidbit was meant to be facetious.
- MrFurious2k, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4They're just changing fronts in the war. Frankly, I'm far more concerned about the new tact they've taken of suing ISPs who are far less likely to want to expose themselves to any legal liability. If you were an ISP, would you risk a lawsuit by a subscriber who is unlikely to have the resources to challenge you or the RIAA who sets aside money expressly for lawsuits?
- CyberStriker, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3You accidentally the whole sentence.
- Sparrow06, on 01/09/2009, -1/+4enormous *****
- chasemassey, on 01/09/2009, -1/+4FTA
"For now, Tenenbaum is rallying his faithful through a Facebook group. 2009 should show us a host of surprising events, but one worth watching will be the attempt by some Harvard Law students—armed with Web 2.0—to see if they can take on the recording industry and win."
Join here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=37707326867 - TonyLocNE, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3That's so 2 years ago... also had nothing to do with music.
So............................relevance? - burgerkinghorn, on 09/02/2009, -0/+2FTA: Tenenbaum did not go quietly into that dark night; instead, he offered the RIAA a settlement of $500. The music lobby declined, and it took Tenenbaum to court.
He offered to settle. I guess he just estimated the costs of all the CDs he downloaded. It's like a shop-lifter returning stolen items and/or paying for them. That should have been the end of it. - Matri, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2He's got balls of steel.
- crysiss, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2Im more surprised by the fact someone is still using Kazaa. I still find it odd people are still using limewire as well.
On to more delicate and pressing matters, ***** the RIAA. - ryan99fl, on 01/09/2009, -1/+3"That's tomorrow, and that is it for us today... We're the RIAA, thanks again for bending over and letting us insert our Top 40 platinum member straight into your mouth."
- MrFurious2k, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2I'm not suggesting they'll drop the subscriber. They'll just block ports or put devices in place to make it difficult to do torrents. I'm not sure where you guys live, but I have basically two options for broadband: DSL and Cable. If they both do something like that - I'm screwed.
- DrNix, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1Calm before the storm. The RIAA has something up their sleeve.
- DrNix, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1This is an old old case, like 2 years ago that is just now getting ready to really start. Theres even a link to the dugg article for the beginning of this.
but yes... RIAA = suck - IcedKasz, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1Like getting congress to allow more power to private industries? Copyright law is MESSED.
Coming up soon, not rating an mp3 after listening to it on your mp3 goes against the EULA, and in accordance to the worst part of the DMCA, is a federal offense. Hurrrr.
(Before I freak anyone out, this is a joke)
-KE - TurdZilla, on 01/09/2009, -1/+2Since when you ask.....
Well they think they can do anything they want since they do alot of lobbying.
Doesn't make it right but... money talks everything else walks... - sccrplyr40, on 01/09/2009, -1/+2***** the RIAA!
- meghalc, on 01/09/2009, -2/+3This would be awsome! This move will create an extreme negetive attitude towards the RIAA. Therefore, shifting the focus of the tiral.
- chmcarro, on 01/09/2009, -3/+3It would be even better if it was stated as, "It should be noted that Nesson is not a fan of capital letters."
You can't just contextually use the phrase, "It should be noted" in the middle of a sentence with commas. It's not a prepositional phrase. It's a complete clause. - akawraith, on 01/09/2009, -3/+3The RIAA can suck my
