- jmpeagle, on 05/19/2008, -6/+455can someone verify if that's actually him or just someone using his name?
- Mediaright, on 05/19/2008, -7/+266Hey kids...don't know how to tell you this...BUT IT'S A FAKE!!!
We've seen these since day one on Twitter. Clinton had one, John Stewart had one, Letterman too. In-fact, there are multiple Stephen Colberts on Twitter! Unless anyone can verify it's the real guy, don't buy into this. - inactive, on 05/19/2008, -43/+251He has mentioned Digg on his show in the past but this confirms it.
- dozer2k5, on 05/19/2008, -14/+219He must surf digg as well because he knows of this story 20 diggs in. http://twitter.com/StephenTColbert/statuses/814545 ...
- jiller, on 05/19/2008, -20/+181And I didn't think he could get any cooler.
- Brutis, on 05/19/2008, -4/+162So I can sign up as Barack Obama and say I watch diggnation and yall will give me a 6k digg story. Awesome, brb.
- Cam_86, on 05/19/2008, -1/+119Wow... I thought most diggers were smarter then this. It isnt hard to set up a twitter account with the name Stephen Colbert, list colbertnation.com as the home page, and post in the same fashion that Colbert talks.
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -1/+71So Mr. Colbert. What's your Digg username? :)
- 4d669, on 05/19/2008, -4/+70His writers watch diggnation and his writers couldn't get any cooler.
- macbwizard, on 05/19/2008, -5/+68The only thing this confirms is that the user Stephen T. Colbert on Twitter watches Diggnation... whether or not this is the real Colbert is another question.
The fact that this twitter user resorts to the technique of following as many people as possible in an attempt to get others to follow him is not something I'd suspect that a big-name guy like Colbert would have to do. - chimx, on 05/19/2008, -4/+59Not only that, he also uses google.
:-O - DustinHill, on 05/19/2008, -1/+40It's odd how some people are so willing to believe stuff like that with almost no proof.
- macbwizard, on 05/19/2008, -0/+39I'd say that Archeologist, the one who submitted this story is the same person who runs "Colbert's" twitter.
- ralphthemagi, on 05/19/2008, -2/+41Yeah. Somehow I don't think Stephen Colbert sat down and decided to add 10,000 people to his follow list on Twitter.
Upon further inspection, definitely not real.

http://twitter.com/StephenTColbert/statuses/779241 ...
He copies some of the same stuff (over a year old) from the other Stephen Colbert person on Twitter... which probably isn't legit either. - leonardoty, on 05/19/2008, -7/+45I KNEW that man would make a great president.
Colbert/Colbert 2009 - Ph0biA, on 05/19/2008, -23/+55Now, if he would just endorse Obama; he would out rank Kevin Rose as the digg Poster Boy.
Either way, He's still my hero =D - inactive, on 05/19/2008, -0/+30I think that's pretty self-explanatory from the submission.
- YesImAChick, on 05/19/2008, -2/+31Verify this one too while your at it http://twitter.com/StephenColbert.
- alenox, on 05/19/2008, -1/+29You want his character to endorse Obama? that seems unlikely...
- timewarp424, on 05/19/2008, -0/+27timewarp424 = Rick Astley
- ABadPerson, on 05/19/2008, -7/+34This someone does have nearly the same sense of humor as Him.
- Zihuatanejo, on 05/19/2008, -3/+29How recursive.
- terracottapai, on 05/19/2008, -9/+34Half of Digg thinks 9/11 was an inside job and that Ron Paul still has a chance to win the Republican nomination, so I don't know why you're surprised.
For proof, watch how many I get buried for saying that. - mrgeekguy, on 05/19/2008, -0/+24Your trying to see how quick you get your ass kick from here, eh?
- gannondork, on 05/19/2008, -0/+24Please timewarp424, don't ever give digg up.
- bouche, on 05/19/2008, -4/+27you guys are talking about stephen colbert as if it's a surprise that he is aware stuff like digg. I have news for you, he's a real person and has internet access.
- EvilFerret, on 05/19/2008, -3/+24What I find more interesting is how so many people refuse to believe somebody like Stephen Colbert goes to Digg or watches Diggnation. It's as if people believe celebs have no lives when not on camera, or or always going to VIP parties 24/7. Believe it or not, they do have semi-normal lives when they're at home. They watch tv shows/movies, surf the internet and play video games just like anybody else.
Of course they're not going to go around advertising what their XBL username is, because they'd get spammed by a bunch of kids "OMFG R U RLY HIM!?" "No u not him" "lol ghey stop fakin"... ect. Same would go with places like Digg and other forms of internet communities.
Just my 2cents,
Bill Gates - TVarmy, on 05/19/2008, -0/+20Some would call it microblogging. It's a page where you write down small thoughts that can be expressed in a small number of characters (160 max, I believe?). This may sound like a very limited blog, but that's kind of the point. You send in small, stream of consciousness snippets about what your doing, where you are, little random things you came up with, etc. It's also updatable by text message and speech to text service Jott, as well as a few other means, such as widgets so that you can post from anywhere.
Twitter isn't so much about adding something new to blogging software capabilities, but it's more about encouraging a new style of blogging.
Long answer short: It's a blog made up of facebook status messages. - wikwam, on 05/19/2008, -3/+23there's another 'stephen colbert' on twitter. http://twitter.com/StephenColbert
how do we know its him (even though i really really REALLY hope it is :P) - ahoyhoy, on 05/19/2008, -1/+20ahoyhoy = Jesus H. Christ.
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -0/+19After clicking on that link, and the link on the page you link to, I come back to this page. Felt like I stepped through a time paradox.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 05/19/2008, -3/+22Okay, it's obviously not the real Colbert. Fake, and buried.
- kevinwiz, on 05/19/2008, -1/+18Why the hell would you want him to do that? The show wouldn't be funny any more. In case you didn't know, the whole point is for him to be a neocon
- teh_spazz, on 05/19/2008, -1/+17Why do you have to mention Obama?
- affanjam, on 05/19/2008, -0/+16Ok he is on digg right now!
http://twitter.com/StephenTColbert/statuses/814622 ... - mithrasinvictus, on 05/19/2008, -1/+16maybe jimmy did it for him
- Morte42, on 05/19/2008, -1/+16Or perhaps the writers of his current-events show happen to know that people are on digg?
- derrickgossman, on 05/19/2008, -1/+15I think it's hilarious that the Digg crowd actually thinks that this is really Stephen Colbert and are humping eachother over it. What a bunch of chodes.
- splobk, on 05/19/2008, -1/+15lol,"Frontpage, I'm speechless!"
http://twitter.com/StephenTColbert - craterburnsu, on 05/19/2008, -0/+14That or he just googles himself all day long....
- gannondork, on 05/19/2008, -1/+14I think that Colbert can easily afford a 360. Maybe not a PS3, but definitely a 360.
- talonstriker, on 05/19/2008, -0/+13"Most Americans despise Negros like Barack Hussein Obama."
Yeah thats why many people voted for him. Why don't you shut your racist little traphole and go educate yourself. - dotlizard, on 05/19/2008, -1/+14it's ok actually. person who does this twitter account totally has the voice down. provides amusement value on twitter, is enough (for me at least)
- ileftfark, on 05/19/2008, -11/+24Colbert's Twitter? Pshaw, I'm friends with Jesus!
http://url.ie/e2j - solarweasel, on 05/19/2008, -1/+13i don't think it's really him. :
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 05/19/2008, -4/+16Right on. Colbert rules. :)
- trevorh, on 05/19/2008, -0/+12Jesus I have always wondered what the H. stood for and I feel this is an amazing opportunity to find out please tell me.
- t0x2c, on 05/19/2008, -0/+12The results are because of the word 'digging'
- Miamisun, on 05/19/2008, -9/+211. Love Colbert
2. I want the Xbox360
4. Where is 3.
3. Do we know for sure that this is really colbert and not just one of his writers or web guys writing this? - GavinZac, on 05/19/2008, -0/+11Oh! If only the result was "keyboardless".
