- MariusAgricola, on 10/20/2008, -0/+11I have said this before (and been buried, booed, and universally derided for it): we will eventually replace most of the wired backbones with wireless devices. That's not to say that wired backbones will disappear, only that they will remain specialized in connecting cities and regions. The devices that most people use, however, will drop the wires, and eventually even the "last mile" should become less important as wireless meshes provide multiple redundant and error correcting paths for data flow.
