- smoothmedia, on 10/12/2007, -10/+491 in 9 people on Earth have seen "The Star Wars Kid"......thats insane.
Thats more than the people who have seen Ep. III I bet! - CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40I wonder if they really meant 900 million 'Views' and not 'People' (Unique Viewers), but then again if one person viewed the video on 3 different computers, then I guess that would count as '3 people'
- joshman5k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25no, but he got very upset about the whole thing.

No, I don't believe I gave you any money, fool. I donated $50 to a kid who was humiliated by the school bullies. I felt bad for the kid. All he did was goof around a bit. Everyone has done something goofy that we'd rather not have everyone on the Internet see, especially when we were kids. Who knows if the money actually made him feel any better, but it couldn't hurt.
It's called compassion. It's something his classmates were lacking. You seem to lack it, too. - cuposmuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15
1) starwars kid... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKt4EhTXrCI

3) 1 night in paris hilton... well every guy must have seen it already so... - rubberbrush, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15we should all pay him .001 cents. The poor bastard.
- muvment256, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15I don't know, but i wish you'd go back there.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I bet the kid hasn't made a cent
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11The Globe and Mail needs to understand the difference between VIEWS and number of people who have viewed it.
There is absolutely no way that 900 million people have viewed it. - superdoug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_kid
"At the height of the video's popularity, two webloggers (waxy.org and jish.nu) began a fundraiser to buy Raza an Apple iPod. In less than a week, they raised over $3,200 and shipped him a 30GB iPod and a $2,600 gift certificate." - YumYumKittyLoaf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9What's sad is the kid is so distraught about it even though he IS the most viewed person on the net... I'd be like "***** yeah i'm that fat guy spinning around like an idiot!"
He's as famous as any celebrity, many people would give a lot for that. - snipes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Go back to stats class...
- skoobisnaxs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@artofwar420 its lightsaBER , young padawan.
- VMark, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Oh, he knows and even tried to sue the kids who released it.
- jals, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Looks like some sort of terrorist training video...
- Dominatus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11since when were there 8 billion people?
- snipes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I just saw it...
Simply put, obesity just makes everything funnier. - hoowahman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7i bet that kid gets laid every night now.
- VMark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This has been done. I can't think of the site off hand, but they raised money and bought him an iPod I believe.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8That was my first time seeing it. Where have I been?
- defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Didn't this kid die from humiliation? Literally?
- artofwar420, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I like this one too
Version with lightsaver:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onrXnQXKLg0&mode=related&search= - vvvv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5So here is the internet, repository of all accumulated human knowledge, the best that we have to teach and know, and the most-watched motion picture clips so far distributed over this wondrous communications system include two fat guys dancing around, an ugly woman having sex, a fish commerical, a lingerie commerical, and a dead whale being blown up.
Er, can we get a do-over on the last couple thousand years of human acheivement? - sstidman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@bbear
Oh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up. - PhantomBantam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It was even referenced on Arrested Development! Any fans will know what I'm talking about.
- acontorer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5According to http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm only 1076 million people ever have Internet access. So there's no way the number of viewers is right. Even worse when you subtract those who have only very slow access.
- bbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3In other words whoever you heard that from is a dumbass.
- fufubag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The 'Drunken Jedi' version is bad ass
- VMark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If that was the case Paris would have sued right away and it never would have seen the light of day.
- askldjd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6But the Paris Hilton sex tape has much higher re-watch value.
- muvment256, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10sux to be that kid.
but, seriously, he should be happy about it. He spread so much joy throughout the world, its like he's jesus... w/o all the killing. - NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What chick wouldn't want to awkwardly handle his lightsaber...
- thunderhammer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2All this dude needs to do is lose about 50 to 75 pounds, lift weights to get muscular and take some karate or jujitsu classes and then he will be able to laugh about it along with everyone else. And better yet he'll be a celebrity. And if he's smart he can find some way to profit off of it.
You really can almost always turn lemons into lemonade. If you have potable water, sugar and a glass. And don't mind getting your hands sticky. - Sp4nk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This kid could've totally capitalized on this and made a ***** of money, more than any court settlement for his emotional pain and the resale value of a stupid iPod.
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is the first time I've seen the actual video too, although I had seen countless paradies like the Tony Hawk game "cheat".
- MikeKnoop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How do they define "seen"? I've seen clips of it, but I've never actually watched the entire thing front to back - seemed stupid.
-Mike - sstidman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It's already been done (sort of). I'm number 9 on the list:
http://www.waxy.org/archive/2003/05/13/finding_.shtml - DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Just to put things in context, this was one of the first viral videos ever seen on the internet.
If the same thing happened today to another kid, I guess he wouldn't have taken it so badly, because it happened before, and youtube is now full of videos of people looking like idiots.
But at the time, it was understandable that the guy became psychotic and depressed from all the sudden exposure and people laughing at him, since nothing like it happened before. - noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3he was even on american dad!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBmJDYC8wsA - porkstacker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I cannot wait to see the Ghislain sex tape.
Umm, actually I want to gouge my eyes out with a plastic picnic knife. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"The video clip of a Canadian known around the world as the "Star Wars Kid" has become the most-shared footage on the Internet, a British net-tracking firm has determined."
900 million is absurd, I would love to know how they "determined" this firgure.
For starters the video is not hosted in just one place, people will have hosted it on their own websites for people visiting to view, people would have copies on their machines which will have been passed onto others and then how can they determine how many people are looking at the screen as it plays anyway.
On top of that many hits it couldn't possibly count, 900million seems way too high, it states "has been seen online by about 900 million people" which is ~15% of the worlds population, and yes this is like 1 in 7 people (actual result is 6.6 but rounds closer to 7) and that is for the population being 6 billion not 8 billion whoever made that dumbass reply. I highly doubt 1 in 7 people across the globe have seen the image, considering all the third world countries, then just the majority of people who just wouldn't give a ***** :-/ - Aggaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Meh, people who haven't played at lighsabers with broom handles when they were kids are the lamers. My friends and I did that when we were small. Goofing around is deeply human.
This guy just got caught on tape. What made it cool, is that it's something harmless and slightly shameful that most people have done, so everyone could empathize with him. I don't hold that kid in contempt at all: it's more human than most video clips we see on the net.
George Lucas should have put him in Episode III. Frankly, he would have been the highlight of that particular dreckfest. - drawkbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The dude really should have gotten a cameo in the last star wars for that golden viral advertisement. Maybe a scene where he does away with Jar Jar. Not as cool/funny as Yoda flipping like a ninja but close.
- Amything, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think Chuck Norris is mostly USA famous. For many non US these Chuck Norris jokes make no sense.
- porkstacker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My gardener, Jesus Villareal, has taken offense to your comment.
- soulpiercer7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This was on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide (a nickelodeon show). Good stuff. I love the one with the star wars dubbed in.
- Lokhalan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Actually, I think his family ended up suing the people who put it online. I don't know if he won but it was hundreds of thousands I'm pretty sure.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder what has become of him. I hope he got out ok from this mess.
- carbonetc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If we find a way to combine this video with the Paris Hilton video it'll be a sure success!
- ElectricKetchup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've only seen Paris Hilton once, but I've seen Star Wars kid at least 50 times. The thing is, Paris Hilton is soo fake, but Star Wars kid is very passionate and full of energy. Thus, his video has much higher replayability.
