- thefluffanutta, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Search engines are blocked from indexing the tag pages on Squidoo - this means they won't get traffic and won't pass PageRank to your lenses. Avoid eBooks and Software that claim they do.
- lakeerieartists, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2thanks for keeping up on all this. the tags can be used when we post the lenses on other forums like digg though, right?
- byronshell, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2But pages do have a positive effect. We ran a test and the link passed value on a nonsensical word.
- KonaGirl, on 10/16/2008, -0/+2since the tags don't work, how do you get recognized by Google? I have noticed that most of my traffic comes from Yahoo, MSN and some smaller search engines, with hardly anything from Google.
- badmsm, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Where did the erroneous tagging info come from then? Many of the lens masters you site are very knowledgeable. I wonder where it all started.
- thefluffanutta, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1The tag pages *used* to be indexed, but then suddenly weren't. Some guys are still passing off old information. Another one is adding RSS feeds to lenses to get backlinks - not true!
- pyngthyngs, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1There is some guy actually selling an ebook about the benefits of using high page rank tags. I'm embarrassed to say I bought it. Apparantly it still works for hubpages though.
- loyalis, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1badmsm, I can vouch for that, we argued back and forth for a week or so on it... fluff has got the right of it. even though i still think tag pages are useful for...other things on squidoo :)
- thefluffanutta, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1Yes, it's important to pick good tags when submitting to social bookmarking sites, like delicious, digg, etc.
- Resdizi, on 11/14/2008, -0/+0I have only just began using squidoo as a tool for article marketing and it is good to know these things..thank you
