Hypnotist: You are all very good players.
Players: [chanting in unison] We are all very good players.
Hypnotist: You will beat Shelbyville.
Players: [chanting in unison] We will beat Shelbyville.
Hypnotist: You will give one hundred and ten percent.
Players: [chanting in unison] That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition, that is the most anyone can give. - MrBabyMan, on 11/29/2007, -6/+95If you read the article, it talks about how to avoid being scammed by these services and where the same information can be found for free. Pretty helpful post, actually.
- MikeonTV, on 11/29/2007, -4/+66How do you expect MrBabyMan to actually find the time to read the articles he submits? (Now thats satire)
- mrmacky, on 11/29/2007, -6/+57How can I increase my speed when I'm already downloading most torrents (that are decently seeded) at my line cap?
- DFENS, on 11/29/2007, -7/+48How soon til digg's front page is populated with dick pill ads?

- Melancholiatic, on 11/29/2007, -1/+21Did anyone on digg actually read the whole article? Honestly?
- SpawnLikeRabbit, on 11/29/2007, -2/+22Spider-Man 3!?
WTF is that kid thinking? - eridius, on 11/29/2007, -2/+20That's not irony.
- richardiscool, on 11/29/2007, -5/+21You can increase something by any percentage you want, though.
- spyd3rweb, on 11/29/2007, -1/+16That sounds like a challenge, someone do it.
- joebleaux, on 11/29/2007, -2/+17If big dick pills actually worked, who the ***** WOULDN'T take them? Who is gonna be that guy who thinks his dick is plenty big enough? I mean, there may be a few at first, but when you see your neighbor pushing his dick around in a wheelbarrow, putting sunscreen on it, you'll cave in. ~Joe Rogan
- JayD16, on 11/29/2007, -5/+19We could release a torrent of it! Oh bitter irony...
- Shirly, on 11/29/2007, -0/+13Nah, I'll just wait for the torrent.
- iCallShotgun, on 11/29/2007, -0/+13Dude you should so do it. It's nauseatingly appealing and unbelievably cheap!!
- Murdats, on 11/29/2007, -0/+13wait, you can leech waffles now? why the hell am i going to the waffle house then?
- ChromaVita, on 11/29/2007, -0/+11I can be at best buy and back in 10. When you pay even more for things, things get even better.
But seriously, ***** that. - chris9902, on 11/29/2007, -3/+14you know the English language, right? you just, right? like, right? murdered it, right? right, right? up down left, right?
- sholt, on 11/29/2007, -0/+10Wrong. You can only calculate efficiency when you know what the upper limit is, and a percentage only represents a ratio of some number over 100. Like any ratio, it can be an improper fraction with a value greater than 1.
If the upper limit for the bandwidth in your example is, say, 100 kB/s; then a 5kB/s effective throughput would have 5/100 * 100%, or 5% efficiency. Likewise, 30 kB/s would have a 30% efficiency. This makes your 30kB/s throughput 30/5 = 6 times more efficient than 5kB/s, which is equivalent to saying 30kB/s has 600% of the efficiency of 5kB/s, or a 500% increase in efficiency (5kB/s + 5x5kB/s) within the same system.
It all makes perfect sense. - richardiscool, on 11/29/2007, -0/+8it's 25kB/s, not 25 kbps.
- NJPENSO, on 11/29/2007, -0/+8WHOA YOU HAVE ACCOUNTS ON SITES? TEACH ME YOUR WAYS INTERNET MASTER.
- Shootfast, on 11/29/2007, -0/+8Have you looked at the Upcoming page?
- merreborn, on 11/29/2007, -0/+7Apparently just you and I.
But hey, no one ever accused diggers of being well informed, or having above-average reading comprehension. - celtickuja, on 11/29/2007, -0/+7Arg, stupid system, digg me down...
- hobo05, on 11/29/2007, -0/+7RTFA, then make a comment....it's a satire....
- wkilis, on 11/29/2007, -2/+9mmmm deathstix
- celtickuja, on 11/29/2007, -0/+6Percentages and infinity are completely different concepts. Also, don't try to teach things like that if you don't know your from you're.
Also, I hate this comment system -_- - inactive, on 11/29/2007, -0/+6What the!!!!! The a real Person behind that avatar? Holy ***** i thought that id was run by the Matrix itself.
- Acidictadpole, on 11/29/2007, -0/+6By paying this guy for your free stuff.. geez learn to read!
- Ebeniz, on 11/29/2007, -0/+5say your current speed is 5 kB/s and using these tips you get 30 kB/s that's 500% speed increase.
- ThreeDee912, on 11/29/2007, -0/+5Seems like nobody here has actually RTFA.
- DarknessGP, on 11/29/2007, -3/+8Here's an easy way to speed up your torrents, use private trackers.
- quentinmcalmott, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4If you're using 100% of your bandwidth, you can't download any faster, virtualization or not, unless you magically make other clients compress their files. The boost you see may be when the torrent isn't being widely seeded, so you're only using a portion of your available bandwidth - having two clients allots you twice the download.
- sholt, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4A 500% increase is actually 6x greater. You increase your initial value by 5x itself, or N+5N, which is equivalent to saying 6N.
It's not marketing, it *is* more than 5x. - sholt, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4 A percentage is simply a ratio of x/100. x can be any number, and the ratio can be an improper fraction greater than 1.
You're entitled to your opinion, but your math is wrong. - p3ngwin, on 11/29/2007, -4/+8but YOU have only a potential maxed at 100%. YOU can't do more than that.
- wolferz, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4you realize bit torrent doesn't actually select which ads are shown on their site right? They are selling space to advertising firms that have revolving door and ad-sense type ads. I.e. the people at pirate bay have only as much control as the advertising firm and their ability to switch ad companies gives them.
Add to that that pirate bay isn't actively trying to screw people by praying on their ignorance and yeh, massive difference. - merreborn, on 11/29/2007, -0/+3...You didn't finish reading the article, did you?
The first half of the article is just an example of the sort of snake oil people use to sell "faster" BT downloads. The second half explains that. But you'd know that if you'd actually read the whole thing. - mc4_a, on 11/29/2007, -1/+4Dear TorrentFreak,
We are not a good fit. We should just break up and never talk again.
Sincerely,
Satire - cyphin6, on 11/29/2007, -1/+4Now I can download pron 500 times faster than ever before!
- Jason4000, on 11/29/2007, -1/+4Speaking of adds, When I was a newb some 10 years ago I (cough) signed up for some obscure site with my address. I'm still getting targeted adds for girls in that specific town even after moving to 4 different cities and formatting and replacing my computer(not cause of the adds hehe). It's funny cause I realize that the only thing that hasn't changed is the billing name with my ISP. I really wonder sometimes. Good time to change ISP I guess.
- MacMixMaster, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2I think you mean toooooooo big, right?
- swaxhog, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2My car gets forty rods to the hogshead, and that's the way I likes it!
- radionics, on 11/30/2007, -0/+2That's quite a dumb view on Xbox Live.
You're not paying to access the INTERNET, you're paying for connection to xbox live servers with regulated service and uptimes.
What you're talking about is like saying you shouldn't pay for WoW because you already have the ability to establish a connection. No, you are paying for a well-refined and regulated service that is worth it's money. Besides, if you can't pay $50 a year, which is actually quite cheap per month, then why would you worry about owning xbox live or even video games in general.
One more thing, look at the Sony approach, their service is free, but can it be compared to Xbox Live? It's no where near as good.
And how! - XIUgraag, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2Same for you ;)
- Myonosken, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2The stig spoke!
