- bhavi, on 10/11/2007, -2/+104He should be given a spam filled Gmail account with no 'Select All' option, and then be forced to delete every email individually for 11 years.
- meshman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+40"He and his partner reportedly made over $40,000 per week during the height of their activities."
Find out who's been stupid enough to send them money and jail them too. - ACrazyGerman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+30How do they make so much money off of spam? Who reads and email like this http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/6069/funnyspamvw8.jpg and then buys them?
- pimpinainteasy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25I would love to send the meanest SOB in whatever jail he is in some Viagra.
- mrharvey518, on 10/11/2007, -9/+27So is this the guy that is pushing all this Ron Paul spam? Finally, its going to end.
- ZogDog, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17@anrkist, you're a wanker.
- krizzle, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Someone really should be sent to prison for sending emails

Spamking103: Is anyone a cop in here?
SxyBoi1337: no lol
Spamking103: I send spams, look at my $$$
SxyBoi1337: jk i am cop, ur under arrest rofl - SpaceMonkeyZero, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15I don't know who his partner is... But he'll have a new "Partner" in jail.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Meanwhile Publisher's Clearing House is still in business...
- osirisothedead, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8It's cost-shifted advertising. Where do you think ISPs and businesses get the money to pay for anti-spam systems and storage for all that crap?
- Ulisses, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13May this be a warning to you, Ronbots.
- n8r0n, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10That is what I do not understand. It is a criminal offense for someone to send junk e-mail, but it is ok for companies to send junk snail mail. I find that junk snail mail is just as much of a nuisance as junk e-mail.
- MediaShipper, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8USPS is not subsidized by the government, it is operated solely by the postage customers purchase (as well as other merchandise). Look it up!
- compgeek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7PWNED. now he's gonna be BUBBA's bitch
- enalios, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8holy crap!!! when I read that 40,000 a week bit I was outraged!!
Am I just jealous, or is it truly an injustice that such slime can make such ridiculous amounts of money? - roosterjm2k2, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10Yeah, I cant figure out spam either.
here is the entire body of a spam message form this morning... (links removed, obviously)

Are there like, hordes or rediculously compulsive people out there who cant help but click any blue underlined word in a message? - Eivo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Seriously, since this guy has been stopped, spam on in my yahoo account dropped 90%!!! I am ecstatic about this.
My gmail still rarely gets spam however. - Gryffydd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7"bar him from doing it again. If he breaks that, then he goes to jail."
Yeah, that already happened. It was illegal when he did it, therefore he was already barred from doing it and he did it anyway, and now he's going to jail. Perfect! - NerdOfPrey, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8@SpaceMonkeyZero
...except the US still ranks as the World's top source of spam (by some margin):

I think we should follow through with the suggestion of another Digger some weeks back: the plan was to send out a honey-pot junk mail message, and then ban anyone who responds from using the Internet. - derkaas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6@Herkimer56
Yes, but I'm paying to have my trash picked up too, and we're all paying to fill landfills with millions of coupons for carpet cleaning and gutter guards and billions of ripped up pre-approved credit card offers. - SpaceMonkeyZero, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Someone had to learn from his mistake.
There are 1000 SpamKings that are out there now, worse than this guy... But they're outside the U.S. and out of our jurisdiction... Unless they're suddenly considered terrorists.... hmmmm... - broeks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Out in 1 year on good behavior. Just you watch.
- quentinp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I think the issue is the billions of dollars literally that these people cost businesses directly and indirectly...forcing them to buy equipment, software, deal with missed emails, dealing with getting legitimate outgoing emails getting blackholed and trying to find special SMTP, DNS etc services to deal with these issues.
- twertyto, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4What is the funding source for these scumbags exactly? There wouldn't be spammers if they couldn't make money off the deal. The government should be going after those guys.
- MediaShipper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4You can go into your post office and ask for a form to have your name taken off bulk mailing lists that the postal service sells. Or contact the people who send you the junk directly. Or you can keep complaining about this until you're an old man.
- MediaShipper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Why don't they prosecute the corporations and/or individuals that pay these guys money to advertise their ***** via spam. This is like going after the drug dealer on the street instead of going after the people who make and package the drugs in South America.
- MediaShipper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I'll give you a hint to avoiding even opening junk mail. If where the stamp would normally be it says any of the following: Presorted Standard, Standard, Non-profit, Bulk Mail (there are others but these are the main ones) then it is garbage and you don't have to or want to open it. If it says First Class on it, then you probably want to open it since they paid more postage to mail it to you. The More You Know, The More You Grow.
- misconfig, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5SPAM is BS but it's all about the money, the government is only pissed because of this. This doesn't stop solicited SPAM attempts to reach my snail-mailbox does it? I get copious amount of junk mail everyday, this is legal because of STAMPS, the government gets money from this either way, it's just not right, 11 years for being brilliant what a waste of life.
- xNIBx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+411 years is nothing. He should also be castrated. He made millions. If someone told you "You will spend the next 11 years in a place, free food, no work, just staying there and when you come out, i will give 10 million", wouldnt you take the deal? Seriously, economical crimes should be severely punished.
- plastek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Not to mention tax laws.
- 15charmaxwtf, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I accidental marked Mediashipper up. I remembered an article form a while back.
http://www.lewrockwell.com/alston/alston21.html
' "USPS is regulated by the federal government but isn’t subsidized with tax money." Not quite.
Digging a little deeper provides the truth: the USPS is subsidized. One need only refer to the 2005 annual report to get some illustrative numbers. A line item showing as "U.S. government appropriations — received" lists an amount of $503 million. ' - gamebittk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'd be the scum of the internet for 40K a week. Screw you and your inboxes!
- hgb5150, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'm merciful. I'll settle for just cutting off all his fingers.
- nzimas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3So much fuss when a single bullet in the back of his butthead would solve it in a snap.
It would be the closest penalty to deletion. - eshop600, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5You could kill someone in cold blood in England and get less time in jail.
Shows what a ***** up world we live in. - indicas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+311 years is nothing? Go serve 11 years then come back and say that.
11 years is excessive for sending annoying e-mail. There are worse criminals who need to be in jail than this guy.
Of course, digg me down anti-spam lynch mob. - Heymoe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2In the federal courts there is no parole or early release. The only "extra credit" a convict gets is 2 weeks a year and that can disappear if he screws up while in prison. It isn't like a lot of states where they furlough inmates after a third of their sentences.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6We should all be so lucky. One falls and another takes their place.
- FortyCaliber, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Or maybe he'll appeal for the next 5 years on an 8th amednment basis, allt he while living off of the dividends from investments he's made from his $40K/wk job.
- Sfmobius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Knowing the legal system, even if he gets 11, he'll be out in less than 5 for good behavior
Hopefully, the SOB will learn his lesson. Maybe he'll get his college degree from prison and go legit? Naaaaah - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6It's because they are paying to have the snail mail delivered. You are paying to have the e-mail delivered so really they're stealing from you.
- symbha, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3@rooster
It's designed to defeat a bayesian spam-filter.
"Are there like, hordes or rediculously compulsive people out there who cant help but click any blue underlined word in a message?"
Yes. Especially about animal farmgirls. - haasim, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Regarding the legality of spam vs junk mail:
It costs money to design, produce and send junk mail, which limits how much junk a person can send and receive. But with spam the costs are negligible. A person could virtually send unlimited emails with ease and relatively little cost. Also, spammers often rely on malicious programs, installed on hacked computers, to send their emails. And there's also the issue of lost productivity due to legitimate emails being lost in our spam boxes.
Spam is simply more of a nuisance than a junk mail and telemarketers combined. But I don't think a person should be punished so harshly for sending spam, unless he broke other laws along the way. - indicas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2They don't pay per email sent.
- spawnfree, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3how are they making money.
do you know anyone that has given money to a company that spammed them? - Goner, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4how about, instead, finding out who the dumbasses that sent these guys $40,000 a month are and send them to me instead...
- wassim2k, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I miss getting emails :(
- CedEx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I hate how you guys always think Bubba is going to nail someone in the ass.
I'll have you know, Bubba has something called STANDARDS! He's not just going to nail everyone that comes to jail.
Bubba wants everyone to know that he is insulted by the insinuation that he is a manwhore! - rizzo623, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3i know, can - spam. i will throw up now. where can i sign up to make 40,000 a week was my first thought. who is with me?
- ronsii, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3AND He should have to read each and every email out loud into a computer that makes sure he is indeed reading them accurately otherwise it sends an electronic shock into his extremities (pick one,two,etc)... Oh and his email addy will be made public!
