"in hudson rvr brb lol" - kd420, on 02/11/2009, -0/+63I think I got carpal tunnel syndrome just from looking at the obscene angle of that guy's laptop. He might as well poke at it from a 90 degree angle like it was a snack vending machine or something.
- emecks, on 02/11/2009, -0/+52the poor man's mile high club...
- skyshock1, on 02/11/2009, -4/+50Dug for the picture.
***** AIR TRAVEL. - Nauree, on 02/11/2009, -0/+41Unfortunately leg space was also reduced a further 4".
The ***** back of the seat is like in the guys face. - ObeseSnake, on 02/11/2009, -1/+30Packed in there like sardines.
- swordedge, on 02/11/2009, -2/+31Porn at 10,000 feet? Not over their probable connection. Surf the web, do email, yes. Video, probably not.
- andarnold, on 02/11/2009, -4/+32Yay, I can watch porn 10,000 feet in the air!
- kahoona1, on 02/11/2009, -1/+20They looks real comfortable.
- merreborn, on 02/11/2009, -0/+17I know I can't be the only one here who streamed Real Video at 9600 baud back in the day.
You can get video on low bandwidth connections. You just have to let it buffer for a long time, or stream from very low bandwidth sources.
Chances are, bandwidth isn't an issue anyway. Satellite tends to be high bandwidth -- the drawback is the high latency. But with a little buffering, that's not really a big deal, when it comes to video. - cyphin6, on 02/11/2009, -1/+14That Indian Guy isn't getting much from the seat in front
- swordedge, on 02/11/2009, -1/+13They've never lost mine!
- deweyhewson, on 02/11/2009, -0/+12"Free Wifi" and then "Airlines could charge for it".
Um, a little cognitive dissonance going on there. - bri719, on 02/11/2009, -1/+11I actually read an article a couple of months back, American started offering this and was planning to do some light web filtering to prevent that, even though they didn't think many users would go there (lol, yeah OK).
only problem, I think you have to pay on their flight. something like $10-15. Southwest FTW - ferrija1, on 02/11/2009, -0/+9I love Southwest
- Mothh, on 02/11/2009, -4/+11Row 44 is OK, just avoid seat 29E
http://msgboard.snopes.com/travel/graphics/seat29e ... - Jonathunder, on 02/11/2009, -2/+9i like this, but why was this submitted as an image?
- MasterGrief, on 02/11/2009, -0/+7Correction: ***** ECONOMY AIR TRAVEL.
First class is, well, first class. I took it trans-oceanic on American Airlines once and had a chair that turned into an entirely horizontal bed and was given an obscenely fancy four part meal. Best flight experience ever. - roadtripper, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6Free . . . at first. From the USA Today article:
"The Internet service, which is available to passengers with their own Wi-Fi enabled laptops or smartphones, will be free during the test period. Southwest didn't specify what the charge will be once the test period ends."
(although it's still better than no Internet) - ScottDaMan, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6That aint a Southwest plane..... dumbass.
- Smiley09, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6Errr, couldn't you beforev via hard drive? Or did you forget about that file you have hidden and named hopefullysomethingnotsuspicioussonoonewillclickonitevenififorgettorehideit.doc.avi.
- sxysadie21, on 02/11/2009, -0/+6With a picture like that, who DOESNT want to fly and bring their laptop?
I'm in. - vdogg89, on 02/11/2009, -1/+7why don't all airlines offer free wifi? it would make or break my decision in who I chose to fly with. ps. that picture is epic
- deweyhewson, on 02/11/2009, -2/+8Yet one more reason not to fly, among the dozens of others: having to sit next to some pervert who can't last 2 hours without a porn fix.
- MacEnvy, on 02/11/2009, -2/+7What the hell does that have to do with anything?
- MachThree, on 02/11/2009, -2/+7Hahah, it IS Southwest Airlines.
- MacEnvy, on 02/11/2009, -1/+6He should probably think about investing in a netbook.
- RSS14, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5"Yeah, sorry for the lack of leg space. . . here's some Wi-Fi"
- slashdotordigg, on 02/11/2009, -0/+4I hope that all the airlines go wifi for free or offer it for at least less than $2 per hour. Power outlet in all seats would be nice as well. So i won't have to carry around my external battery pack into the airplane. i get a look like i am crafting a bomb in the airplane with all that wires wrapping around me, headphones, battery packs, etc...
Or, i will just ask for beer and go to sleep. - choopie911, on 02/11/2009, -0/+4That pic is essentially me on my laptop when flying. Unfortunately the MBP hinge isn't great for opening widely.
- prancinghorses, on 02/11/2009, -0/+4flexible laptop
- zjbird, on 02/11/2009, -1/+5Southwest FTW
- antdude, on 02/12/2009, -0/+3Skip the blog: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/flights/2009-02-10- ...
- seanjanis, on 02/12/2009, -0/+3But...you still can't turn on your cellphone.
- chattin, on 02/12/2009, -0/+3Why does Digg think this is classified as an image?
- ferretpants, on 02/12/2009, -1/+4That thread is full of racists! =P
- rdoger6424, on 02/11/2009, -0/+3How are them baggage fees treating you?
- CrixMaydine, on 02/11/2009, -0/+3Dugg for what I can only assume is a Gogurt chugging badass in the background.
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -0/+3lol nice leg room
- samtpage, on 02/11/2009, -1/+3Just in time for fantasy baseball drafts.
- stevenr21, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2now you can't use the plane as a communication blackout excuse..yay...
- UtahApocalyse, on 02/11/2009, -2/+4Yet another reason Soutwest pwns all other airlines.
- Mossman85, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2There should be a scene just like that in a Snakes On a Plane sequel. Only this time, all the passengers would be on one wing, and on the other wing will be none other than Christopher Walken....DANCING.
- zerton, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2never had any problems with southwest and i think i've been on at least half their flights
- KingGorilla, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2laptops are pretty pricey
- pox05, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2i fly south west next month, heres to hoping my flight is a test flight!
- mrBitch, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2from the comments at the end of the article, the best comment goes to "frigg" with this :
"dual monitors are sweet, but the one thing I insist on when I fly is that the airline allows me to tap into the plane's projection system to test out business presentations and get proper feedback from other passengers.
Otherwise, I have to use my own projector which means about half the people in the cabin can hear me, but have a very poor view of the presentation." - Iwantawii, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2He could be in the exit row. I usually opt for the exit row when I check in, because there's often 12" - 18" more forward leg space. Makes for a very comfortable ride because you have room for your legs and bag (toys).
BUT - occasionally the exit row seats are spaced apart just like normal seats, but the reclining function is bolted down so your chair is 90 degrees the whole flight. Those are the worst seats in the plane for sure, save for maybe the chairs right by the bathrooms on long flights. Yuck.
So basically, when you play the exit row game you gamble with your life (and apparently that guys fertility, hope it's not a MBP ouch!). - inactive, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2A different kind of Mile High Club...
- inactive, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2I've never been on a plane that could hold more than 30 people, but I've never had to be packed in as tightly as the people in the picture. And I sure as hell didn't get a full recliner.
