- freezerburn666, on 02/02/2009, -2/+53you probably think this article is about you, don't you?
- Barackalypse, on 02/02/2009, -0/+24Damnit, I've already filed off my fingerprints and wear contacts to screw up retinal scans, now I'm going to have to screw with my vascular system to avoid being identified?
- Truth3, on 02/02/2009, -4/+24Can I insert my penis into the scanner?
- sirjimithy, on 02/02/2009, -3/+22Sony: Trust us. We made the Walkman!
- dazparkour, on 02/02/2009, -0/+17Is it the same size and shape as your index finger?
- Lihtsaltjobu, on 02/02/2009, -2/+14Nah, just get the original finger.
*chop* - MokaPot, on 02/02/2009, -1/+13*****. I'm experimenting this new security architecture. I called it "SecretWord" and it consist in a sequence of letters an numbers the owner/administrator of the system has to type on a keyboard, and he's also the only one who knows such sequence. I don't want to sink into the details, but it's going to blow your minds away. SONY, pfft.
- CreepyFootDoc, on 02/02/2009, -2/+14It's no anus scanner.
- nourayehia, on 02/02/2009, -0/+11Very smart idea, i guess it would be hard to be cloned.
- inactive, on 02/02/2009, -0/+11If all else fails, use your penis, unless if your a woman. Than you're just ***** outta luck.
- ThermiteTerrace, on 02/02/2009, -0/+10Start using heroin?
- MokaPot, on 02/02/2009, -0/+10Seriously, dugg my comment down please.
- dobryjr, on 02/02/2009, -1/+11good thing, until you lose a finger...
- nextekcarl, on 02/02/2009, -0/+9If you watched the episode of Mythbusters where they did it with a photocopy of a finger print you wouldn't be asking that.
- JustinPM, on 02/02/2009, -2/+11Full-proof?
- InfiniteNothing, on 02/02/2009, -1/+9Geez time to break out your tin foil thimble
- Lihtsaltjobu, on 02/02/2009, -0/+8In your arm.
- SniDa, on 02/02/2009, -0/+8Seems easy enough: http://www.ccc.de/biometrie/fingerabdruck_kopieren ...
- irieKEN, on 02/02/2009, -0/+8Nah; finger vein imaging requires that your blood is still pumping for it to work.
- thumperings, on 02/02/2009, -1/+8Don't you? Don't you?
- richofsilence, on 02/02/2009, -0/+7The false positive rate is far higher with prints versus irises.
- geesamba, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6"The new tech was unveiled in Tokyo this month, so expect it to come to the UK never"
I'll learn to forgive horrible writing never. - BenRT, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6Vein authentication? As in, through the arm?
No technology, security or otherwise, is coming anywhere near my veins. - enochthewalker, on 02/02/2009, -3/+9Hmmmm. If one is dehydrated the veins can shrink and vice versa if more hydrated than before.
- bluesatin, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6Making security rely on something that can't be changed is always a good idea. ¬_¬;
- superfusion, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6I thought rectal scans were pretty intrusive.
Oh, retinal. - apena89, on 02/02/2009, -0/+6ahh yes, thee Walkman.
the ipod of the 80's... - Khast, on 02/02/2009, -1/+7Great, Sony the industry leader of Big Brother. /s
- specialK16, on 02/02/2009, -1/+7Yeah, it's right there in the article.....
- knightoflite, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5can anyone really clone any fingerprint? is it that easy?
- Lihtsaltjobu, on 02/02/2009, -1/+6But the location of the veins never changes.
- nextekcarl, on 02/02/2009, -1/+6I'm going to start offering full body tinfoil fashion designs soon. 8^)
- lukemann, on 02/02/2009, -0/+5We have one of these at my gym for 24 hour access. It reads the veins on the back of your hand. It is completely unreliable, I usually have to scan my hand about 10 times. I hope the finger implementation works better.
- richofsilence, on 02/02/2009, -1/+6We use iris, not retinal scanning out here in biometrics land.
- CeruleanRed, on 02/02/2009, -0/+4You can, though I don't recommend it.
- anaxa, on 02/02/2009, -0/+4We had fingerprint scanners on our laptops when I was in the military -- one day we found out that it only activates the scanner when it senses heat. And the oily print residue gets scanned in instead of a finger.
So someone breathed on the scanner (when the last person who logged in was a legit user), and it unlocked every time.
It was actually easier to log in with your breath than your finger - opitica, on 02/02/2009, -3/+7Why don't we work on actually implementing them first? Sure, fingerprint scanners are in a good chunk of newer laptops but I've never encountered a retinal scan. Just because we have a lot of unique things on our bodies doesn't mean they should serve as a security device.
- opzero, on 02/02/2009, -0/+4So are fingerprints.
- Dumbledorito, on 02/02/2009, -1/+5This should help make sure the cleanliness level of one's teledildonics equipment is your own affair, alone.
- rhedrick, on 02/02/2009, -0/+4Gloves
- mylifeisstupid, on 02/02/2009, -0/+4Nah, heroin use could take a while to collapse your veins, shoot cocaine. And oven cleaner.
- drmangrum, on 02/02/2009, -0/+3or Fool-proof?
- Lihtsaltjobu, on 02/02/2009, -0/+3Not quite the same. Sony scans the veins but Lumadigm scans the fingerprint under the epidermis.
- thefox84, on 02/02/2009, -0/+3that's just creepy
- thumperings, on 02/02/2009, -3/+6when i pump up my arm with bloof i can move soem of my veins around almost an inch of squishiness weirdness
- ALaughingMan, on 02/02/2009, -0/+3The subliminal message was 'you need this because it's new and techy'. How many people here even use a standard fingerprint scanner? Cool concept but really just useless in my opinion.
- bufiji07, on 02/02/2009, -0/+3Fujitsu came up with this several years ago.
- Truth3, on 02/03/2009, -0/+3A tad bit skinnier and more of an elongated tricontagon. But ya, your comment gave me confidence, like I just had sex with a super model confidence.
- DanBoodro, on 02/02/2009, -0/+3http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA4Xx5Noxyo here's you entertainment for the day...fingerfidlers.
- inactive, on 02/02/2009, -1/+4better than cutting out someones eye when you want digital access
