- paperclipsNsoup, on 11/03/2008, -6/+85Don't be evil
- Akairenn, on 11/04/2008, -1/+65Google is watching you masturbate.
- doiveo, on 11/03/2008, -3/+60"with a conscious" For now.
Besides, it's one act of war away from being government info. - bipolarruledout, on 11/04/2008, -0/+53Google is HELPING me masturbate!
- AlpineStars777, on 11/04/2008, -4/+48So Google knows my porn preferences, I have nothing to hide. (That was my roommate on the midget websites btw.)
- grumpyrain, on 11/04/2008, -0/+34No Google doesn't know too much. Just because they see all of my email correspondence, serves ads on most of the websites I visit, indexes every comment I make here or in any news group, knows what I search for, knows what addresses I browse to, and indexes every document on my hard drive ...... hmmmm.
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -0/+32Hello, Dave
- TheBigKlosowski, on 11/03/2008, -3/+35What about Google's willingness and agreement to censor search results in China? What kind of conscious does that show?
- TMTurtle, on 11/04/2008, -0/+30I'm afraid I can't let you search that.
- ConAmoreEFuoco, on 11/04/2008, -1/+29*Conscience, guys, conscience.
- iamdan1, on 11/04/2008, -0/+27Resistance is futile
- IIDavidCoffinII, on 11/03/2008, -1/+27they know every search from everywhere, do you realize what kind of demagraphic information is in their databases?!
- Linguo, on 11/03/2008, -26/+51Google is like microsoft but with a conscious about where it goes...I don't have a problem with it.
- DiscoverBalance, on 11/04/2008, -1/+26www.google.com
That'll be $100 million plz - BevansDesign, on 11/04/2008, -0/+21Shhh! Google will hear you!
- cheerio, on 11/03/2008, -2/+21Remember, all corporations, evil or not, are always just 1 CEO/decision away from a Walmart like disaster.
- milkshaker, on 11/04/2008, -0/+19Do they google what they dont know?
- whoreable, on 11/03/2008, -3/+19"One of Consumer Watchdog's complaints surrounds Chrome's navigation bar, which can be used to enter a Web site address or a search query. "
So what? Firefox does this. I do it all the time. - razoras, on 11/03/2008, -0/+15It's not like Google is the only one compiling all this type of information. Information brokers have been making huge amounts of money by selling much more dangerous and personal information about the average Joe on a regular basis.
Google also only knows what we let it. Privacy concerns should be directed at citizenry, who still have yet to establish "common sense" and a common ethical guideline with respect to what you share, who you share it with, etc. - pandaro, on 11/04/2008, -1/+15It shows a bad conscious.
- Lar5, on 11/04/2008, -0/+13I am fully aware of this concern, and those who harbor it.
-- Google - pandaro, on 11/04/2008, -0/+13I'm watching too.
- DiscoverBalance, on 11/04/2008, -2/+14Do they really need confirmation? Americans love porn. Get over it.
- IIDavidCoffinII, on 11/03/2008, -4/+16I would pay a million dollars for a hundreth of that info....
- suprememilo, on 11/04/2008, -0/+12Everyone knows that Google is a precursor to Skynet.
- m0zzie, on 11/04/2008, -0/+11Anyone that attended the last HOPE security conference would've heard Steve Rambam's talk on this - and everything he talks about is extremely valid (and a tiny bit disturbing).
If interested the talk is available in mp3 format, not too large: http://www.thelasthope.org/talks.html - Branchex, on 11/04/2008, -0/+11The problem is that the government wants info like this on all people but it is not allowed to collect this stuff itself because of privacy laws. So it allows corporations to do it and then buys the info on a certain person from the companies when they want it.
- DiscoverBalance, on 11/04/2008, -0/+11Well isn't that nice
- EvilPizza22, on 11/04/2008, -2/+11I, for one, welcome our Google overlords.
- iatethecake, on 11/04/2008, -0/+9Jet, satellite, map of the world, and being Google. What can go wrong?
- YawehsDead, on 11/04/2008, -2/+11Just because you have nothing to hide doesn't mean that there isn't anything to worry about. Like it or not, information is power, and we should be concerned with what's happening with our info.
- kaminariko, on 11/04/2008, -1/+9"Google" would be the perfect name for an AI in any science fiction story.
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -1/+9Funny you mentioned that. Every time I send someone an unpublished link on my site to their gmail address, then within 22 mintues google is crawling that link even if my robots file says not to.
Thanks to apache modules, google gets goatse instead of the actual content. Still I find that shady. - shrewduser, on 11/04/2008, -0/+7one that doesn't want to see a competitor come out of china?
- doiveo, on 11/04/2008, -1/+8"Walmart like disaster" ... in what regard?
- CVL4317, on 11/04/2008, -0/+6In before someone bringing up "Google is the Beast from the bible"
- Catgofire, on 11/04/2008, -0/+6Thank you! God ... that was making my brain hurt.
- DiscoverBalance, on 11/04/2008, -9/+14If Google was like Microsoft there would be a lot more error windows
- craighoxton, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5Too late - they somehow know about my MILF video addiction...
- dumpweed, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5heard about this a few months back and downloaded the audio.... it's a REALLY good listen and yep you're very right it is a bit disturbing just how much information google has
sure they are a good and (mostly) honest corporation right now... lets just hope they stay that way :) - MAGZine, on 11/04/2008, -2/+6Don't like it? Turn off auto suggest/select a different provider.
I'd rather my search information go to Google rather than Microsoft. (and I like their search better) - latova, on 11/04/2008, -1/+5Google resisted China, Microsoft, Yahoo and other similar companies did not.
- statuescrumble, on 11/04/2008, -4/+8yeah, just for google it.
- poidh, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4Are you a Russian spammer/fraudster or something?
- theetoecutter, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4Wake up, Google makes Carnivore or any other such entity look like childs play.
Duh.
Go Tor. - streak, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4Is that why it was so difficult for Google to post a link to its privacy policy on the home page?
- PrettyGreen, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4Wintermute?
- geoboy, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4Maybe they mean that Google has become self-aware.
- PinkyTheWinky, on 11/04/2008, -0/+3There is only one sacred place for information, and that is your mind. Once google indexes my mind I will start to worry... no wait scratch that Id rather be able to google for my keys using google brain(beta)
