- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+139Awwww, did mean old Slashdot hurt the poor diggers' feelings?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+116"Too bad they had to resort to taking jabs at digg. Although it isnt going to help their cause one bit."
Because no digger has ever bashed slashdot, ever!
And I call BS on your claim that the tech-savvy converge on digg, they're more likely to go to slashdot for interesting and informative discussion. - qsqueeq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+108"Only by requiring the contribution of every random user of the internet can we guarantee the most scientifically perfect numbers will be generated."
Nice. - Sarki, on 10/12/2007, -4/+88I think the (tm) on slashdotit is probably meant as a jab at Digg, too, since Digg has been known to be really protective of the trademark.
- DevastatorIIC, on 10/12/2007, -9/+67Happy New Year! Er, April Fool's. :-)
- KevinJB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+60"I smell an April Fools joke."
With such cunning powers of deduction, you should become a private detective. - KillerJ59J, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46"Oh well I think other than a few crickets and hardcore /. followers there are going to be few who are going to be laughing at this one."
I laughed. I think it's pretty funny. - dmason, on 10/12/2007, -5/+49I love them both. Can't we all just get along?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+46Good luck with that.
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -6/+47Me too. Slashdot is good for all the tech news and Digg is good for all the fluff news.
- VeganBob, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41"slashdoTTit" - two Ts in the midlle

>Slashdot is good for all the tech news and Digg is good for all the fluff news.
Digg's good, slashdot's good, but it goes like this:
slashdot = tech news
fark = fluff news
digg = some agglomeration of the two plus more blogspam.
You know it's true.
AA - handsoffme, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34Slashdot: usually don't bother to read the articles
Digg: usually don't bother to read the comments - cmgarcia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26You guys are reading into it too much. It's April Fool's Day. It's the internet.

"ahhh, it's a damn shame you had to go so low as to place more and more weights in my telephone over the course of a few months, so that on april fools you could remove them, call me with your cellphone as you stand by my cubicle, and laugh at me while i smash the now lightened phone against the side of my head. for shame! have you no decency?" - SpeedyG, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25OMG PONIES comments on digg actually surviving?
Guess the userbases overlap more than people expect. Maybe people will finally knock off the Slashdot v. Digg nonsense. - johnlandes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17The best Aprils fool article I saw on the front page read "48% of Americans Reject Evolution``

Then I looked at the date and wept
DAMN YOU REALITY!!! - sid0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Beautiful. 8675309, is, of course, "Jenny".

- mrmdc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13it's sorta true..
there's too many stories frontpaged on digg. You pretty much have to scan through 6 pages of stories every day if you want to see the top stuff, and most of it isn't interesting enough to be on the frontpage.. - operand, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16If you vote, you get the following message:

Apparently the real contest is digg vs. reddit. I read reddit, digg, and slashdot and the reddit guys seem to have some little war going on with digg. I find it hilarious since I come to these sites to waste time, not be better than the people that choose to waste time at some other website for geeks. The reddit guys equally dislike slashdot, and instead of laughing at this page like we are on Digg they're getting all upset about it: http://reddit.com/info/1edx1/comments - zeroduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9It's pretty much a tradition at /. that there isn't a serious story on April 1.
Don't take things too seriously. It's April Fool's Day. Have a good time and laugh. - spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9And good luck trying to find a front page story from a week ago. Digg really needs to improve its search.
- omnidugg, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15Perhaps. But no-one actually reads reddit.
Ok, perhaps some people do, but compared to digg, reddit is small fry

- sxtxixtxcxh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6the rating for the google wireless broudband story is 600673.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7^^^ issues... keep moving...
- noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You mean Slashdotts, of course :-)
- sid0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Look at the numbers, mate. "11.9" and "8675309".
- byronne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Oh geez, silly people. Lighten the hell up.
Sheesh. - Mindflux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6No one was suggesting Reddit was anything compared to Digg, so what was your point?
- Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hahaha pretty funny of ol' /. If I was digg's owners I would be flattered.

Which internet? We have so many! - SimonDonkers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would really like the ability to have a slider in my settings for how many stories should reach the frontpage. If my frontpage would just get 1 page of stories a day that would work a lot better.
I visit Slashdot as well because they allow me to actually find the news between all the other stories. - Jaymoon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well it's true isn't it?
Once a story hits the front page, does it matter whether it has 30 diggs or 3,000? Not one bit.
I wish digg would just do what they do with diggriver, and make the # of diggs almost so tough to read, you don't even notice it's there. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Now they just need to give everyone unlimited mod points. Then slashdot will truly be digg.
- omnidugg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Think this is bad? Almost every story on /. today is an april fool. (I'm not knocking slashdot, actually I love it, but April 1st seems to be the wrong day to try to read any decent news)
- omnidugg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4handsoffme
I couldn't have put it better myself. That deserves to be modded up to infinity. - loconet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I saw this last night and I have to admit they actually got me. I was already complaining to my self how lame it looked/worked.
- lcmatt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Nothing to see here move along. Its an April fools joke.
- seneyr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1April Fools. Read the description of the new service for some tongue-in-cheek humor.
- Earlofnecromium, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2im not sure if it is a prank..but whatever it is it annoying and ugly.
- toxicredm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1sorry, replied to wrong comment
- omnidugg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Mindflux,
wow- you must have a lot of Digg friends. The ratings for this have changed markedly since I last read this thread.
IMHO, we're both losers for even giving a ***** about some random person on the other side of the world thinks about some random inconsequential debate. (sure, I still believe I'm right, and you still believe your right, but hell... I'm sure we'd both agree on one thing... life's too short. The sincerest peace offering I can give without compromising my position as a skint student is this; I've dugg your submission. There we go, everyone's happy.) - huyashamasha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'm not impressed. This service is not very...useful I think
