- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It doesn't say a think about skype. Or did I miss it in the manual??
- zaxis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have to say, thats a nice looking phone.
- shenardlong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks pretty sleek.
- bryan8m, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would calls to ban Skype (http://www.voipnews.com.au/content/view/314/1/) have any effect on such a phone?
- mckirkus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's too bad that Verizon and other wireless broadband providers forbid the use of thier services for VOIP. I hope google hurries up and gets that free wireless network up and running...
- sufferingant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/accton_skyfone_wm1185_t_cell_phone_1.jpg for another pic, great digg.
- danielctull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If modern phones got the hardware to connect to WiFi points, and the software to configure it, Skype and others could make a Java version of the software to run of the phone?
Probably not as much money in it for them as embedded phone solutions such as this though, not to mention the beating a company offering a wifi enabled phone would get from the service providers... - willgorman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We use skype to generate our podcast. Having a wireless phone would make it that much easier to do when I'm on the road!
- dougieb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Another article about this: http://www.gadgetell.com/entry/88
- steveoa3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The skype phone at thinkgeek linked above uses a base station connected to a PC via usb where this phone needs no computer, just a wi-fi access point.
I use skype out so I can call real numbers, I don't use it enough to get vonage and pay a monthly fee. I like the pay as you use, 10 bucks 10 hours deal. - mrkoje, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What is the deal about these darn phones? It seems to me most of the wifi phone diggs are mainly orientated towards a specific service such as vonage or skype. Why be locked into one service?
If your going to get a wifi phone, make sure it supports standard protocols such as SIP or IAX. When you spend $100-200 on a damn voip phone, you'll be happy you did. - TKDWILSON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+020 hour stand by time???????? They make that sound good. A real cell phone lasts for days without a recharge. What is the deal?
Eric Wilson - BigDumbGuy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I work for AT&T.
So I am really getting a kick out of most of these replies.
Some of you guys are very good at making it sound like you know what you are talking about.
But trust me.... You don't.
I think you just want to make yourself sound smart, when in reality you dont know what you are talking about.
This is how bad info gets passed around.
If you dont know about the topic....Dont make yourself sound like you do.
Cuz some Diggers belive anything they hear.
