- Bobby1978, on 06/04/2009, -2/+157I want to say ***** the RIAA, but it looks like they're screwing themselves just fine.
- VinnieDaMac, on 06/05/2009, -0/+110Any ISP who joins the piracy fight will lose a lot of customers and the ISP's know this.
- drew52686, on 06/05/2009, -2/+82ISPs: No, No, No, No, let me ask you a question. When you came pulling in here, did you notice a sign out in front of my house that said Internet Police?
RIAA: ISPs, you know I ain't seen no...
ISPs: Did you notice a sign out in front of my house that said Internet Police?
RIAA: [pause] No. I didn't.
ISPs: You know WHY you didn't see that sign?
RIAA: Why?
ISPs: 'Cause it ain't there, 'cause policing the internet ain't my ***** business, that's why! - sondatch, on 06/04/2009, -0/+57Say it anyway. ***** the RIAA.
- cartman005, on 06/05/2009, -0/+45What is the incentive for the ISPs to work with the RIAA? Any provider associated with them would receive horrible publicity and lose customers.
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -1/+37Don't sue the highway, sue the driver. I have a 30mbit connection right now and i'd go back to 7mbit DSL if my provider ever ***** with with me like that
- themacmeister, on 06/05/2009, -0/+32I hope ISP's have the commonsense to do the same when they're asked to censor the internet (AUS).
- mksmothers, on 06/05/2009, -1/+20The day my ISP decides to be a stooge for the RIA is the day I switch.
- venom8599, on 06/05/2009, -0/+18You don't ignore extremely rich people threatening you and your fellow citizens and trying to restrict your rights and invade your privacy. If you do, then they'll just do what they want without opposition.
- exspasticcomics, on 06/05/2009, -0/+17read a thing about a guy who owns a small ISP down south & everytime he gets anything from the RIAA asking him to look into a copyright infringer... he sends the a bill for about $100 (processing fee...) no one has every paid the processing fee... so he's never had to find out who the supposed infringer was.
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -0/+16RIAA are a bunch of stinking thieves!
- venom8599, on 06/05/2009, -1/+16Yeah, but when they actively have to shut people off, they lose the money. This wasn't about people getting fed up and switching providers, but the RIAA wanting the ISP to say: "Oh, this is the third time you've infringed copyright, get lost paying customer."
- WilliamAdama, on 06/05/2009, -2/+16Ahahahaha... ***** you RIAA =)
- tgc1, on 06/05/2009, -1/+14RIAA has a gun, and is looking down the barrel at its foot. Bang!
- easty3423, on 06/05/2009, -4/+16im tired of the RIAA. lets all ***** ignore them completely. i don't give a ***** who steals ur music or what impact it has on anyone else. maybe if we ignore them they will shut the ***** up for once.we have been hearing it for year,s blah blah people download our music, its illegal, SO WHAT WE DON'T CARE ANYMORE. the isp's don't care. congress don't care. my cousin down the street don't care. not even the damn artists care! just live with it .
- neo991lb, on 06/05/2009, -0/+12Ah sarcasm, my good and noble friend. Seems lucutus has been dugg down by dullards that can't comprehend sarcasm unless it has /s after it, which almost ruins the joke in the first place.
- Stingwolf, on 06/05/2009, -0/+11I would think the RIAA would pay them for these types of agreements, but that would counteract the "loss of profits" motivation for doing it in the first place. They would, more likely, try to get the government to force ISPs to do this (see their involvement of AG Cuomo).
- kartman2001, on 06/05/2009, -1/+12I'd like to think that's true, but in so many places the ISP's have a monopoly and people have no other choice for a provider. That is why they think they can get away with so much BS, like usage caps and throttling p2p services. We need the FCC to tell the ISP's to shove it, if they share any privacy information not subpoenaed by a court.
- diggforworld, on 06/05/2009, -1/+12***** THE RIAA!
- Elranzer, on 06/05/2009, -1/+11Don't forget who the head member of the RIAA (as well as the MPAA) is: Sony
I always find it ironic when the same Diggers say ***** the RIAA/MPAA then go all boner for Sony in the Games news section. - haydenk, on 06/05/2009, -0/+10LOL. So, basically they're wanting to get something for nothing?
- lucutus, on 06/05/2009, -6/+15The RIAA is so popular because everybody likes them. They aren't telling who's partnering because other ISPs might get jealous of favoritism and exposure. I mean what ISP wouldn't want that sort of free advertisement the RIAA can offer?
- W0lfcake, on 06/05/2009, -0/+8They don't have common sense, they want money, and money comes from customers, and customers stay with an ISP when they are satisfied, and when customers are satisfied it usually means they are free to download what they want, and while greed for money could annoy, I'm perfectly fine with it now as my ISP isn't intrusive into what I do on the internet at all.
- Bobby1978, on 06/05/2009, -0/+7***** Sony too. I don't buy any of their overpriced proprietary crap.
- Stingwolf, on 06/05/2009, -0/+7Rather than ignoring them, how about stop paying them? Stop buying any music produced by the RIAA, and stop buying movies and tickets to any movie produced by the MPAA. If you complain about them yet keep buying their stuff, you are simply financing their legal campaigns and, thus, the very thing you hate.
This is not like boycotting the oil companies for price gouging (that would be nigh impossible where I live). There is no -need- for music and movies to get to work, etc. You don't even have to give up content entirely. There are numerous high quality independent bands and film studios. Show them some support instead. The ultimate "***** THE RIAA" is not a post on digg, but a good ol' fashioned boycott. - alpha88, on 06/05/2009, -1/+8If an ISP joined the RIAA, and any others in the same area didn't, they'd lose a ***** of business to the ISPs that didn't. Plus they wouldn't get to charge as many overage fees. ;)
- venom8599, on 06/05/2009, -0/+7They don't really care about public support. If you turn a blind eye to them, then they just do what they want--without fear of public outrage. They have the money to push things through without actual support. If they were flat broke and completely lacking in influence and power, then they should be ignored. But they aren't, so they shouldn't be.
- sewje, on 06/05/2009, -0/+6The internet is the PEOPLES teritory! Corporate business is on the PEOPLES terms, bow to the people or get out of the teritory! :)
- Stingwolf, on 06/05/2009, -0/+6Comcast would definitely lose me as a customer, simply on the principle of the matter. I don't even download music, but I will -not- support anyone involved in the RIAA's extortion campaign.
- JekJob, on 06/05/2009, -0/+6I agreed with you, and then you said Hitler was better than the RIAA. Inappropriate.
- exspasticcomics, on 06/05/2009, -0/+6but this isn't about copyright... it's about the fact that the technology has caught up. it doesn't cost million to make a record or make a movie etc. the need for a record company just isn't there anymore. record the stuff yourself... put it out on the net.. if you get a following.. & you're really good.. maybe you'll need to get a manager & a promoter & soon we'll be buying your new CD 'exclusively' at wal-mart.. target or best buy (sans.. guns & roses.. AC/DC Pearl Jam... etc...)
what's the need for a record company in a world like this? it's a great time to be an amazon.com or a promoter... the rest of the industry have just become useless middle men. - Seanathan, on 06/05/2009, -0/+5+1 for ***** Sony.
- cfuse, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4Retarded government is somewhat different to retarded lobby groups.
- KRG12345, on 06/05/2009, -1/+5Lol.
- 0tis, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4Just out of curiosity, roughly how much actual bandwidth do you see from that? I don't think anyone dos 30Mbit connections round here, but I'd be interested to know...
- pooper0, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4No.... the current australian government are wankers who have no clue about anything. Were screwed.
- BILLYBOBJOEBOB, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4I'm starting to feel bad for these guys... nah, not really. Maybe if they weren't such pricks.
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4good
- ykinc, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4If you're not with us, than you're against us!
- mpn401, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4Dugg for "go all boner."
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4 Yup...That's their game plan.
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4And if they can't get their way they pick off a small ISP and sue them to oblivion..
They did not try Optus (Singtel) or Telstra Australia (Part government owned) who also have users making midnight raids on movies etc. These 2 guys can afford lawyers until the end of time. But iiNet may not...
http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2008/11/inside_the_ii ... - inactive, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4 Well said..And it's not the RIAA's either.
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4its actually pretty good. its called 30 but i def average above 20 most of the time and at night when i'm running rapidshare downloads i definitely hit 30 all night. no capping, no port blocking, no traffic shaping. optimum online in NJ. I'm goin to get the 101/15 when i hear what you can actually average. its only $100 a month!
- 1024alex, on 06/05/2009, -2/+5I just today had my internet turned back on because the ESA accused me of sharing games on bittorrent. I wish the isps wouldn't work with them... *****...
- kingChard, on 06/05/2009, -0/+3Isp's really want to cut off their customers who pay MONEY for their Connection
- skinturtle, on 06/05/2009, -0/+3Mitch Brainwol's head looks like a big potatoe
- 07dcolem, on 06/05/2009, -0/+3At first I read: Hopes soared after the major labels announced that they had ** convicted ** a group of telecoms to work with them.
- snwboardbaddie, on 06/05/2009, -0/+3You can't stop the signal!
- MatzahMan, on 06/05/2009, -0/+3hip hip...
