- tanith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12LiveJournal functions best as a community rather than a blogging service - its value is in the friends networks, and community groups, which is what it seems 6A hopes to use to build Vox. Even people who don't like LJ end up staying there because they've formed communities there.
- agentv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Livejournal isn't a moneymaker, so they were never going to invest much into it.
- f00xx0riz3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Thats a particulary stupid website. Why not just post your blog on some other site than LJ then? I dont see the problem. LJ runs their site one way, you've got 10 other free hosting options. But nooooooo instead you start a ljabuse-site :p
It's just tragic :p - Durrok, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5They could be called "Blargh I ***** your mom" for all I care as long as they provide me with both a quality product and service.
- FishyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I wonder how Vox, owned by Korg, feels about this name.
- LabRat777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Who give a ***** about anything the people who made MovableType create?
- smallandfierce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Hmm. Thinking Six Apart should probably work on it's customer service issues with it's current services before throwing themselves into a new one...
- GotGoose, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4A little off topic, but is anyone getting tired of all the business names with numbers?
SixApart, 37Signals, 9rules, etc.... - knupso, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Vox is a damn good Vodka!
- quanta88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1SixApart has been around for several years now, though. It refers to the number of days between the birthdates of founders Ben and Mena Trott.
But yeah, MovableType 3 cost $70 and our last upgrade was...a year ago? Meanwhile the free WordPress gets more and more features everyday?
I think they expect the MT plugin community to fill in the gaps for free... - briansalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was liking the look of the whole social networking thing and hoping they were going to have the friends page element of Livejournal, where the posts that people make are pulled onto a page for you and other people to view. I hope they do such a thing, and maybe make a free version :P
- tanith, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Interesting comments going on there, about LiveJournal. Vox seems to be utilizing some aspects of LJ, but should Six Apart be launching a new service when LJ is having so many problems with its customer service? Hmm... http://ljabuse.blogspot.com
- ddales, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This probably won't go over too well in Germany. One of the most popular TV networks here is called, VOX.
- tanith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I didn't start it, but I think the point about community answers your question. Some people also pay for their LJ accounts.
- BoiseGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have used SixApart (TypePad) for about 2 months and I still cannot resolve some serious issues (related to pulling earnings from "TipJar" to Paypal)
If SixApart can't resolve my issues (3 emails today) I would be afraid that whatever they launch will not be successful.
I love the product (TypePad) and I hope they can get their act together. - psylence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I was just thinking the other day, "I really am dissatisfied with the amount of social networks I have to choose from, we need more".
Amazing! - spelunker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't get it. Another blog? This one with ads and without the ability to customize?
I don't understand what SixApart is trying to do here. This doesn't seem particularly revolutionary, it looks like they tried to put Friendster and Blogger together and give it a hip, Web 2.0 name.
Anyway, I signed up. - pseudojd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1bono vox
- arulprakashar, on 02/13/2009, -0/+0Interesting comet, probably tv network did calle it VOX
http://indianbee.com - an exclusively Indian social network for learning
its my better social network which allows you to learn something - tahoebean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1LiveJournal/Six Apart cites breastfeeding images as 'inappropriate' and sends mothers to the virtual restroom:

- ckoerner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Fish, plankton, sea greens... protein from the sea!
Oh, wait. You said Vox, not Box... - RunawayBunni, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I concur.
- wyldebtrfly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I agree.
Sixapart used stall tactics to shut customers up while they open a new site.
You would think they would want to keep customers happy.. doesn't seem like their strong suit.
No wonder a press release & nurse in have been issued.
(http://gotmom.blogspot.com for more info on both) - agentv, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yes, I've seen significant privacy issues raised, as well as the general inconsistencies of the abuse team on livejournal.
- acidrebellion, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Will be watching this one with interest.
- echeese, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Aw crap. Just as I was about to open a social network called "eVox". I'm not even joking :(
- AdverseEntropy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Not to mention the fact that LJ is a horrible blogging service and is inferior to almost any other on the market.
- psylence, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0You're gonna be _so_ loaded.
- sroerick, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Don't spam.
- javiel, on 07/08/2008, -11/+5ok this is lame
- agentv, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1There's just been a press release issued by the angry breastfeeding mothers about LiveJournal.
