Example: where I work people won't use instant messaging because "it's too complicated and difficult to figure use". Now imagine those same people trying to add friends, chat, add different FB APIs, etc... it's just not going to happen unless you hold their hands and walk them through it.
I do see the idea of "where employees can interact with one another online for an hour per week" a great benefit. It would help bridge the communication gap between older staff, who communicate by sneaker, phone, paper trail and email, and the younger students, who engage in instant messaging, text messaging, forums, chat rooms, and email. - inactive, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1Of course it makes sense to us. We understand how beneficial social networking can be to a company. However, there are many managers who still do not understand social marketing and are nervous about it's possible impact. I am a big advocate of permitting social networking at work too! :-)
