- Snakeeyezzes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very cool.
- eclectro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They actually toned down the soudtrack from the last time I saw it - which was quite painful to listen to.
- chosenone-, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You have to give them props for trying and experimenting. The photography isn't bad at all, some really interesting shots there. But that tick noise? Why do we want to hear the shutter?
- techgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not even stop animation, which would have been admirable. An EOS can easily take multiple shots in a row using burst mode. Canon's website even says it's fast enough to take 5 shots per second for up to 23 shots at a time.
So basically all they did was hold down the shutter button until 23 shots were taken, then do it again. Nothing like stop animation, where each shot is carefully lined up. - chrisdelta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's higher than HD res too - just not at 24fps ;)
- penguinix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's pretty cool how more and more independent films and film school students are using this technology to make films now.
- garymac, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1Apparently the web hosting company has 'censored' = removed this film (if you watched carefully I think you could spot a nipple, so who could blame them). Watch it on youtube instead: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=o-5cJse8_Zk
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For those who don't have enough bandwidth to watch the stream: http://www.patrykrebisz.com/stills/FINAL_AE_760k.mov
- RHinNC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well done.
- Frungi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1BTW, Koowan was right, this is exactly what they did in 1979 (as far as the method) except they cut out most of the middle steps.
- sizemoresr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that was awesome. Show's how fast the 20D acutally is! I just bought a rebel xt. I'm not hardcore enough to spend the extra 500$ on the 20d.
- imanz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought it was awesome, id like to see more of this kinda stuff on Current TV.
- Koowan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I am not impressed. The EOS 20D is a DIGITAL camera people, not a 35mm SLR -- look it up (film cameras don't have an 8Mp CMOS sensor). So the guy saved a bunch of digital images, transferred them to editing software and made a movie. Woo hoo.
In a high school film class in 1979 (yeah, 1979) my friends and I made a film by shooting thousands of black and white pictures with an old Nikon SLR, developing and printing the film ourselves, re-shooting the sequences on an animation stand with a Super-8 film camera, then edited it by hand. Doing the same thing today, but all-digital doesn't impress me.
When you can snatch the pebble from my hand, you will know it is time to leave.
Try again grasshopper. - SuperFlyDaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1She has really nice boobies. Just go to page info under tools in Firefox and save the .mov file then play it, press pause and hit the right arrow on your keyboard to see them:-). I'm a leg man, but there's nothing like some perky boobies to go along with them!
- opticsnake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't care how it was done, the shots were still well composed and the natural lighting was great. The actress looked great but the rapist or mugger or whatever he was, wasn't nearly evil-looking enough.
I'd love to do something like this as well but I think my fiance would shoot me if I spent any more time on the computer. - sparty1969, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Me to. I have had my XT for 5 months and love it. I will have to try this some time.
- uirye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In case someone wants to see it with a better soundtrack, I reposted it on TextAmerica with a song I heard on Adam Curry's The Daily Source Code. You can check out my version at http://uirye.textamerica.com/?r=3135996
- TechnoRabbit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ya know... if you actually pay attention, the girl never flashes her *****. She's wearing a skin-toned bra.
- south, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"So basically all they did was hold down the shutter button until 23 shots were taken, then do it again. Nothing like stop animation, where each shot is carefully lined up."
So you're saying that you think they just held the shutter and spun in circles? I think it's safe to say that each shot here was thought out and lined up as intended.
Each frame in that thing would be a good photo in its own right. - Mischa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1me and a pal made some short films with stop motion.
I used a Canon EOS 20D SLR for mine as well. Took a night and 6 beers to make the FANTASY FUN TYPE LAND WITH DANGEROUS JOHNS AND ENDEVOURS*.
It's pretty brutal. And by brutal, I mean bad.
*editors note, music was used WITHOUT permission.
http://www.currentlyknownas.com/challenge/ckac_4.htm - KingAR_II, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Pretty impressive... they coulds have atleast had something - anything other than that annoying ticking in the background.
Still sweet nonetheless. - chewbaccawokka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Blech, I hate when people say that other people "have too much time on their hands", blah blah blah. It was their project, and I'm sure they were devoted to it - so why not spend unreasonable amounts of time doing it?
Plus, the film was pretty cool, I mean, aside from the lacking plot and mediocre acting. And I liked the clicking sound, if it were completely silent it would've been unwatchable. - greengiant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0well, i thought it was pretty cool :
- blockcipher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Cool.
- leomyhero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0why didn't I think of this!? I want this camera now!
- mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1No fair I was just about to give up porn until the girl flashed me a the beginning of the film.
- KYDS3K, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i thought it was cool. hot damn that girl is cute . . .
- McZiggz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0sickest thing i've ever seen.
WOW
gg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow. Cool idea and awesome camera.
- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0this is awesome period
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0meh nothing new..........technique has been overly used in music videos especially
- volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0That's awesome... I should try somethin similar (of course it's not gonna be as good looking) w/ my Sony 7mp cam...
- Florian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sorry, didn't interest me much. And you can't realy see her (nice) *****. She's wearing a thin flesh tone bra.
- slainte1971, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0NOW THAT...........was something. Forget plot and acting and even the fact that is not the MOST original idea in the world, just look at it for its visuals. I put it into quicktime and went frame by frame (no not the whole movie) and it really is quite impressive. Burned into my brain is that sequence of shots when the small dig. camera is turned on and zooms in and out with such fluidity. Great shots. Again, along the same track, when you see the LCD of the camera just booting up providing that hazy glow and then in the next shot is booted up and focuses on the image of the girls face. Very good. Great digg.
- Thorin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I thought the style looked great, but wasn't that impressed with the plot - it felt a bit like an extended advert for a digital camera or something.
- mitsuogs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is amazing!!
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow, that was great. Would have been much better with some kind of music instead of a "Shutter" sound.
- movieguyjon, on 04/03/2009, -1/+0Honestly, very generic at best. And this is coming from someone who knows a little about the subject. I've seen better in a camera commercial. But still, props to those people for actually doing it.
2 stars out of 5 - tacocat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i believe the tick was the shutter flap
- lavawalker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Like the Corpse Bride...
http://digg.com/movies/Tim_Burton_s_new_animation_with_unique_digital_workflow - mhii, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Conceptually good but technically nothing new. The soundtrack sucked. I had to mute the sound after 30 seconds to be able to watch the whole film. A soundtrack to help set the mood and tempo would have made this a much more compelling short.
- Frungi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It's not stop-motion, it's just a normal movie with a very low framerate. Big whoop.
Why do people keep saying this has boobs? She's wearing a bra. - boardo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Koowan, thanks for proving you had too much time on your hands. The video was still impressive.
- uglyredhonda, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Okay, I didn't watch the clip. But if all they did was film a short movie with a 35mm still camera, it's been done. The Smashing Pumpkins used that technique for the video for "Thirty-Three" back in 1996.
- doofus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Obnoxious sounds effects made the film unwatchable. Amateurs.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Pardon?
- thespurs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0more bewbies.
- digitalunit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Yeah. I watched this without sound, Maybe it adds something? But I thought this was a total piece of *****. It's boring.. there is NO Plot.. And it looks like a camera commercial.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0........ wow......big deal.
times have changed. I'm a film student today and your faded old timer stories are unimpressive -
