The author clearly doesn't hang out here enough. - Snoods, on 11/11/2008, -20/+309So I guess internet is serious business now.
- colonelbuckshot, on 11/12/2008, -23/+304Welcome to Digg, Saabira Chaudhuri. I suggest you relax and don't take the comments so seriously
- MaynardJK, on 11/12/2008, -26/+307Yeah, the comments on Digg are just as bad as killing baby girls and forcing widows to burn on funeral pyres.
Do you want to know why women get disrespected on the internet? It is because drama queens like yourself will say stupid ***** about a dirty joke being on par with having acid thrown in your face. Get a thicker skin and shut the ***** up. - Khanvalescent, on 11/12/2008, -25/+294I like *****.
- ceredron, on 11/12/2008, -17/+257You guys

- paperclipsNsoup, on 11/11/2008, -16/+192@ Saabira Chaudhuri
Perhaps you shouldn't read too much into a Comment... Just because you post it doesn't mean you believe it. I'm willing to bet 90% of what is said in these comments is purely for reaction (And diggs). Few people comment to make a serious point (Unless its politics/religion).
If you have an article about Canada make it to the front page, I guarantee there'd be a ton of comments making fun of Canadians. Doesn't mean anyone hates them, or holds them in low regard. - brentinkc, on 11/12/2008, -9/+180Amen. Last I checked, stoves don't have wifi connectivity.
- wild, on 11/12/2008, -10/+180Since this article is by a woman, it should be awarded only 2/3rds the diggs of an article on the same subject written by a man.
- dvsbastard, on 11/12/2008, -14/+181The author needs to harden the ***** up and grow a sense of humour...
If you want to really have a tough time, try being a religious female republican vegetarian working for the RIAA in New Jersey on Digg... - inactive, on 11/12/2008, -27/+184I'd hit it.
- Roustov, on 11/12/2008, -7/+137Buried because of the sexist attitude of the author
- brainnovate, on 11/11/2008, -63/+186As the submitter of that story I was appalled at some of the comments. However, anyone who reads the comments does so at their own risk, it is seldom a place of intelligent discussion. Always has been that way too.
- Hetman, on 11/12/2008, -5/+126Why is saying you would have sex with someone sexist?
- AmyVernon, on 11/11/2008, -10/+126True. I stopped being appalled at sexism on Digg a long time ago. In fact, I just embrace it. It's like the Stockholm syndrome.
- cubs0110, on 11/12/2008, -10/+114Wow, breaking news, people like to make jokes, and someone overreacts.
buried - Lucas123, on 11/11/2008, -22/+126When you combine anonymity on an internet forum where the average age in the group is probably 15 -- you know what you're going to get.
- Nyctobello, on 11/12/2008, -12/+115"Do her do her, who hasn't done her"
She keeps quoting this. Start watching some Family Guy, like most Digg users, and you will understand the joke.
Jackass. - RyeBrye, on 11/12/2008, -0/+94You think we'd joke aboot canads eh?
yeah, they are an easy target. when they get electricity up there, they will probably get online and start to fight back. - coolcash2005, on 11/11/2008, -37/+131"Men offline would never dare claim ownership to the ludicrous statements they so freely spout on the Web."
*****. The coolest girls are the ones that realize everyone judges everyone, so I hang out with them. I don't give a ***** if they judge me, so don't give a ***** if I judge them. - curtisag, on 11/12/2008, -7/+91Digg is sort of a collection of guys all sitting at one massive table in a pub. We're all having a beer, watching the girls as the come in, and making comments. Some of those comments are flattering, but a lot of them aren't. This is what guys do all over the world. Women enjoy gossip and we enjoy deciding if we'd do you or not, and letting our other cavemen know.
So, we're all sitting having our electronic "beers" in our electronic pub and in walks a lady like yourself that wants to talk about a topic that's A) not amusing or particularly well done, B) definitely out of context for the venue you've entered to discuss it, and C) overly critical of the young men who didn't walk into the bar to hear it. You don't walk into a frat party in college to discuss the finer points of water polo. This site originally was mainly about technology articles if I'm not mistaken. It's only recently become a one stop place for everything under the sun.
Now I'm sure digg has some people who are somewhere between slightly and overtly masochistic, but a lot of that stems from them never having sex. So they take it out on the target of their frustrations to make themselves feel better about their situation. But don't confuse the comment, "I'd hit it," with any form of sexism. It's not sexist for a collection of young, sex-hungry men to collectively comment on how nice your ass, breasts, or figure is. - fakekevinrose, on 11/12/2008, -9/+92omg sexism somewhere on digg, that means sexism is still very active in america! must write article and submit it to digg.
might i suggest 4chan.org, it's a community of feminist writers seeking to balance fair treatment to women on the Internet. - forceuser, on 11/12/2008, -6/+88Reported.
- kinseyincanada, on 11/12/2008, -8/+90if you give anyone anonymity they will act like a jackass.
- fwertz, on 11/12/2008, -5/+82http://i34.tinypic.com/1z3mkhx.jpg
- DickyT83, on 11/12/2008, -2/+77I, for one, think we should help end women's sufferage.
- Katana, on 11/12/2008, -1/+74The example of comments she picked out, 2 of them were lines from Family Guy which is quite fitting since Seth MacFarlane is in the image accompanying this submission.
- brentinkc, on 11/12/2008, -8/+78Agreed. People need to learn how to take a ***** joke.
- DrLeePhD, on 11/12/2008, -2/+72clearly the author has never seen Family Guy.
- Richie311, on 11/12/2008, -2/+71In case u dont know what Microsoft here is saying, he's implying that since she, the admin, is commenting on this post, that infact, she is not in the kitchen cooking some man something to eat in SF, the city where the admin lives.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -6/+73Some people take things, i.e. the internet WAY TO FRICKIN' SERIOUS.
- Volatile36, on 11/12/2008, -12/+79***** OR GTFO!!!!
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -19/+84Why do words on the internet from anonymous folks you'll never meet (much less care two ***** about) upset people so damn much?
- Maddman, on 11/12/2008, -8/+68Newsflash - Saabira Chaudhuri is just now learning that the internet is a horrible place filled with awful people.
I'm not sure whether to degrade her with disdain for her ignorance or smug condensation. Anyone have pics, if I know how hot she is I could probably work it out. - frogman54, on 11/12/2008, -7/+67Because of your name (coolcash2005) and your rampant cursing for cursing's sake, I will now judge you.
I judge you to be a bit of a douchebag with a side of narcissism and you lie about knowing women. I also suspect that you actually only have $2005.
All judgments are final and binding in the Federated States of Micronesia and parts of Belgium.
Have a good day. - brentinkc, on 11/12/2008, -8/+68Thanks for the heads up. I've buried and reported you. I find the world "pulse" to be overly erotic and offensive.
