- growlzor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+48What does that mean "Internet interest in sex" Like porn? Cause I'm very interested in porn
- CharSkall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Those consumed by "social networking" online were not getting any action to begin with. Dugg as inaccurate.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19That is a LIE
- sonochamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Possible causes of this.... Either people are getting laid via social networking or, more likely, more and more people are using Bit Torrent to get their porn instead of adult sites. Anyone agree?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14It's not a lie, just the people who gathered the statistics aren't using any common sense.
The only reason social networking sites are getting more traffic than porn sites is because people are using social networking sites to GET SEX. REAL SEX. As opposed to sex with yourself.
Do you really think people would EVER stop using the internet for sex? Come on...
I cant believe the idiots that post this crap. - frodsteamin2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15I like finding girls on social networking sites for what....oh you know!
- LucasKane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Men are obessed with finding funny youtube videos to send people and women are obessed with filling out bulletins
- majordannyboy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13I see this in our school district. I'm in charge of blocking sites (yes you can hate me) and in the last two years students have been accessing sites like myspace and facebook more then sites like playboy. Whenever we find an open proxy we can see that students use them to access social networking sites and not porn.
Of course what happens at home is another story... - punkdemons, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9How about the fact that 1 in 4 U.S. Adults has herpes. Maybe we should blame that, not social networking. That and maybe people like a few more social interactions that just "banging one out"
- metall1c1ne, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Ummm?? I'll take the girl on the couch over social networking any day of the week!!
- Almadiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6In other words, more people are using the internet to get real sex as opposed to pornography. Instincts never go away, they just find new outlets. And say what you want about the sexual politics of love vs lust, they both satisfy the same physical urge.
- Obsidian743, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@sonochamp,
I completely agree. Why bother with porn when it's easy to download for free and one can get the real deal by prowling social networking sites for young, willing teens?. I get the feeling that this article (specifically the into) implies that social networking sites are becoming less fueled by sex these days and is becoming more about actual "networking". If anyone believes this they're a fool. by and large these sites will always be about meeting someone of the opposite sex - and we're not talking about for tea parties here. - Cumella, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5a/s/l?
- kazzyD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Here's a link to the story quoted in this story, which has a graph of the traffic for porn vs. social networking:
http://www.computers.net/2007/04/social_networki.html - KarbonKopy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Dugg down for being lame. Who is the f*ck would go to myspace over having sex? If so you need to be shot in the head.
- jmkiii, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Crazy kids! Back in my day...
- SurrealDream, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Damn you for making me attempt to come up with an Internet Explorer joke involving lesbians...
It's people like you that make me the [Insert Adjective] man I am... - Kumaku, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Tell me about it, casual encounters at craigslist has been dry for weeks!
- NeoCortex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Interest in sex going down? What do you think social networking sites are used for?
- seandfeeney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"sex is getting licked by social networking"
So internet porn isn't on the decline; it's just taking a new form. - WarpFox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@simpleid
a social networking site is only as good as it's user base. The larger the user base the better chances you have of finding someone in your area. Not only are adult social networking sites usually smaller, but also usually cost money.
As a non pornographic example: I use AIM as my IM client. Do I enjoy it? no. Is it the nicest? no. Does it have neat features? no. But everyone has it, so c'est la vie. - HairyPoter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The problem with real women is that they never let you upload on them, anonimously. Beyond that, you are never alowed to have a backup copy (just in case), they never let you to mod them, they don't let you share your "files" with other women and all upgrades are vere expensive!
- keeblerkhan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hmmmmmm, sex on the net is going down as female usage is on the increase. Anyone see a correlation?
- Twistopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I see the surge in social sites as all about sex. Women posted half naked pictures on there. Guys and girls troll the local people looking for booty calls. Hell I think my sister has slept with several people through myspace already. Everything boils down to sex.
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Back in my day... we had clubs and knocked out our women of choice back to our caves to make future Geico commercial actors...
- Twistopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You know I started to finish this sentence in my head with...
Back in my day... we had clubs and knocked out our women of choice with roofies. - bumfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2does your sister have a myspace page? ;>
- staffell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3There's a reason for tabbed internet browsing...
- Cerialthriller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2im in ur daughter, drinkin ur tea
- betobeto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Guys craving for underage emo schoolgirls? Guess you have a point.
- SwitchXFactor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That or everyone is beating off to myspace sluts?
- Irco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2who starts an article with "Ha ha "...
- simpleid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think (and I could be wrong) the statistics are being read incorrectly. I believe interest in porn and sex has always been the same, steady, it's simply that the amount of people discovering new material polarizes the way people use the internet. This is a product of people spanning their focus, not disinterest in anything specific.
Not to forget to mention, you do realize that there are social networking porn websites, right? So if social sites are going up then you're saying the porn social sites are as well, so then you're contradicting yourself. - liah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Screw social networking, EVE online and the new Command and Conquer has made sex with my boyfriend near impossible.
It's a sad existence when you're second to a videogame. :( - frodsteamin2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2lets not even get to "second life" thats one big orgy of a game
- ijustfloat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How is a lust-based fantasy only "pseudo"-sexual?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"No Thank You Sex, We're Networking"
Ah yes. I'm sure someone who CAN get a hot girl is going to turn her down for his computer. *rolls eyes*
Doth protest too much. - ijustfloat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wonder if they are taking into account that porn is becoming freely available daily by the gigabyte via torrents...
- WarpFox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No you're welcome.
No YOU'RE welcome.
NO YOU'RE WELCOME. >:O - abstraxion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interest in sex isn't declining. Non-nerds are using MySpace and Facebook to look for real-life sex now, instead of nerds looking for filmed sex on porn torrent sites.
- DMDekoth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think its more like.. people are using the pay-for-porn sites less, because all I hear from my free porn sites, other than "unf unf unf" is "Theres too much new traffic, we need more donations!"
- Lavarock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No. ***** statistic.
- Cerialthriller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1or surveys and then spam them to all their friends when its the same 12 questions over and over. nobody ***** cares what your favorite ice cream is or what the last thing you ate was! *****, if you are going to subject me to that *****, atleast throw in the last thing in my pussy category or favorite sexual position! (and you guys know you only read them hoping that one of those questions is sandwiched in there somewhere)
- Lavarock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WE ARE FINALLY FIGURING OUT THAT WE CAN'T GET SEX FROM THE INTERNET.
- Firehed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting to see on that Google Trends output that outside of the US, porn is in the lead by a large margin, whereas over here, it's MySpace dominating. What a depressing insight into today's American society.
- wassim2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sounds like the tech boom of the late 90s when speed dating was trying to match techies, but all they could talk about was B2C and B2B.
- filipeanut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Unless you're hot you aren't getting any on myspace/facebook/twitter/friendster/bla bla bla. So I have no choice but to merely "network" with people for reasons other than hooking up. And that sucks. Which sucks even more is that I don't network with people for reasons other than hooking up either. I need to get out of my room.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Internet sex is the safest of all. No "burn while peeing" or little critters crawling around in your fun bag.
You only do social networking to get to the sex.
http://www.collegecupcakes.com - KDX200rider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The method may be shifting, but I am sure hormones are still driving it.
- kettle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1from the site linked above:
"Every second - $3,075.64 is being spent on pornography
Every second - 28,258 Internet users are viewing pornography
Every second - 372 Internet users are typing adult search terms into search engines
Every 39 minutes: a new pornographic video is being created in the United States" -
