- nebunezzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Being a tech site primarily, shouldn't everyone here already know this?

this is useful - guhappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so true GMan :)
- HiddenForce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If most people can't even turn off the SSID broadcast on their wireless routers, I doubt they'd know what port forwarding is, much less be able to follow these configuration instructions ("What's a static IP address?"). It's sad to see how many "2WIRE###" routers(/DSL modems) show up as being available nearby when setting up a wireless device.
However, portforward.com is good for those who do know something about proper router configuration -- I've even used it myself. :) - lament, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>This site was helpful for configuring Azureus with my router.
I'm sure you guys know that the information on that site regarding the BitTorrent clients is pretty outdated (about using ports 6881-6889). ISPs are now throttling those ports, so best to use a higher port number. - incu_vamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i saw this on call for help too like last month
- stickyboot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dose UPnP work with port ranges instead of individual ports?
- SadBeef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0upnp is my friend. manual port-forwarding is for lamers
- stickyboot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's amazing how many people still don't understand the concept of opening ports, yet alone knowing how to do it. It's good that resources like this are out there but there seriously needs to be an easier way for people to get around ports so programs like bittorrent can make a larger impact.

- Chip_whitly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah I've seen this or something similar a few times already.
