- forexproject, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10this sucks. How the hell did this get dugg.
- corevette, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8very good, but i don't think its as easy or simple as http://www.dogpile.com/
- rssurvivor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6notice the /search.php?cat=2&ref=redditcom-11292006 it links to, this guy is getting cash because everyone diggs it
- subliminal727, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8there are lots of these, but this one is pretty cool actually. very clean looking and lots of options. plus i noticed a torrent option
- smoothly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5why hasnt dogpile gotten more mainstream? its been around for years
- bmeckel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4nice, but dogpile is way better
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The first thing that comes to my mind when i see the word "dogpile," is what I have to pickup in the backyard before I mow the lawn.
- JacNet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yeah, but most of them are too awkward. I prefer a nice and simple Google layout.
- Dfects, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4possibly the worst meta search engine i've seen.
- MartyMcFly713, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3metacrawler is good too.
- austindkelly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Seriously do you need Multiple Search when looking for pr0n? I generally don't have any problems finding it, hell most of it comes to me!
- robbrydon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This story getting onto the front page is makes Digg look like it's being gamed.
- Bhima, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I would say that while dogpile returns more results they are far less relevant than just using google.
Can’t say about Yahoo, never really used it. - itsnotvalid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It is spam. Look carefully in the url of this link. "ref=redditcom-11292006". eh...
- sciencebase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anyone know of a meta search that allows you to specify particular engines like Scirus, Google Scholar etc...
- antonio97b, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2what are you looking for that is so obscure that you need multiple search engines to find it?
lame. - curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2www.resultr.com
does something very similar, allowing you to choose and save your own custom searches using only the search engines you want, and allows you to search things like ebay, and social networks, blogs, etc., etc. i submittedit to digg a while back and is pretty cool and worth checking out. Actually created by a couple of high school students as a class project that they put online. - Cory70, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2How do you "find" google.....???.....
- Cory70, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Agreed, Google is the fastest and has the most relevent results.
- multiz, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1http://multiz.com (my own multi search) doesn't have any ads. The above site is way too commercialized.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone remember Savvysearch 10 years ago?
- kpsidekick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can open my own tabs in FireFox... Thank you very much!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2All this site does is frame the real search engines. Big deal.
- shepmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like to use Clusty (www.clusty.com). You get metasearch, plus something called clustering on the left. And it doesn't look as garish as this site. ;-)
- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2dogpile is what i used before i found google.
- snurfle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Something called clustering" is the BEST search feature out there...
A search for 'crystal' on google will return billions and billions of pages; clusty will return "clusters" of similarly-themed pages, sorted by topic: Radio, Healing, LCD, etc.
It makes it a LOT easier to sort through all of the unrelated "fluff" that's out there! - alteratti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just another so-called "multisearch" tool, and one more step towards confusing the already confused users trying to search one damn simple thing using one damn search engine.
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What we need is a good porn search engine... I am tired of all these ad sites coming up everytime I need results...
Okay ....I need to calm down. - likwidoxigen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I find it heartening that there are only 264(currently that is) morons on digg. Those of us who have used the internet before have seen things like this. DogPile.com for instance. Which has been available for some time, since at least 1999. Give me a freaking break. The fact that this frontpaged is disturbing.
- Cory70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Josegutz
ROFL......Iam tired of the spam too. - Cory70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not bad......I like the cluster, good effort but itll never be mainstream
- netferret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what a load of crap, I could do something better in less than an afternoon.
- alteratti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just another so-called "multisearch" tool, and one more step towards confusing the already confused users trying to search one damn simple thing unsing one damn search engine.
- MasteRR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I miss YaGahoogle!. It was a simple frame with Google on one side, and Yahoo! on the other (would switch them randomly per search to avoid a bias). Used my 2 favorite engines and one search, and had no fancy shmancy AJAX.
Oh and no ads.
Too bad it's gone... :-( - wicketr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://metacrawler.com/ is very nice. I've used them for a long time for finding stuff I couldn't find on Google. It also does the image, audio, video searches across different websites.
Fairly clean too. - mistercharlie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How can I take this seriously - it looks like a MFA site. Kill the Adwords and figure out how to make some money without whoring yourself out to the big G.
- tearor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I use AOL,,Google?? What's that, a dog?
- toprank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I still like http://www.jux2.com myself. It lets you compare results to see what the other major engines missed.
- Cory70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not reallly googles index is massive if you cant find it on google you probably really dont need it.
- TheSiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am so attached to the Google UI and brand (most of us are) that I find it really hard to use anything else (especially this stuff).
The UI makes me cringe and all links looking like the following: http://av.rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9ibyJxkF29FTlcBRlKDBqMX;_ylu=X3oDMTBwMjNqdWVsBHBndANhdHdfd2ViX3Jlc3VsdARzZWMDc3I-/SIG=1194hj31e/EXP=1164994788/**http%3a//wikipedia.org/
makes me cringe as well.
no digg. - derekfranklin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*If* you're a search-junkie who wants power when you search (not the type who likes the simple searchbox, like that found on Google), then this online search tool is worth a look:
www.whonu.com
There's a lot to it, but once you understand the approach, it's pretty darn useful - waxbrush, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Ah the wonderful world of spam-O-rama,
Ever wonder how a rather innocent search engine can pull high paying Adsense ads out of a hat.
Invisible div tags with the following:
bad credit loan
auto cheap insurance
pay day loan online
////////// FILL IN A TON OF SPAMMY KEYWORDS HERE
attorney mesothelioma
cancer mesothelioma
mesothelioma
And Google laps it up too. - REALLYTANGY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For a more "streamlined" approach you can get the same effect (and more) by using Firefox and the extension CustomizeGoogle. BTW, make sure to check out the Intro movie if your not sure if you need/want the extension.
http://www.customizegoogle.com. - mcdonnellk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh great! Yet another search tool. At this rate someone should build a directory of all the search tools out their so you can spend your time searching for search, without finding what you wanted to find in the first place. Where's the innovation?
- trannex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have been using web ferret for years , does same thing.
- slappo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very poor - doesn't handle national characters.
Even if all the included search engines handles these characters this meta SE sends spaces instead of the real character - rumor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1very cool.
i like the tab idea.
and omg i used to use dogpile back in the day. was the stuff. oh and mamma :)
dugg~ - slothlovechunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These used to be pretty popular, and then Google came out.
- rhemares, on 03/26/2009, -0/+0Niche search engines that gives you top tips on your searches. Anything from cars, computers, shopping, finance to video tutorial. http://www.internetsuccessresource.com/search/

What is Digg?
