- hagrin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No dig - the information couldn't be any more generic.
- jmccorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My company has a CIO, CEO, CFO. We're adding an SEO next week.
- graphicpush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree. Completely generic, and I question if the author just wrote the article off the top of his head. No dig here.
- recipher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WTF googled, stop spamming the boards!
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0seos are just as bad as spammers.
- charis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0-digg
- Veloxi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OMFG, I work in SEO (which isn't spamming, BTW, barbobot) and this article is insanely generic. While the general tips are good, there's a lot more to SEO than just some content and title tags. Age of a site, link building, static vs. dynamic pages, etc etc. No digg
- bionikal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0for a guide to SEO this is way too short, way too generic and way too useless. Examples, scenarios and additional resources would have helped.
i wrote a quick 'Do's and Dont's of SEO' guide for people looking to purchase SEO for there site. http://www.elucid-online.com/article-9.html - jool, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yes, you're right. It's not spamming but that's not what barbobot wrote either. It is tricking search engines to show what someone else wants it to show instead of what was actually searched for. Which actually is just as bad as spam.
I know there are a few serious SEOs out there that just make pages easier for the crawlers to crawl and index. However, most of them just make a huge mess of links between completely unrelated sites to quickly boost some site noone would link to otherwise. - Forse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very generic info as stated before
no digg - ucg1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@Veloxi he said "as bad as spammers" not "is spam"
I agree with him. You are working in industry that is just making the web crappier for the rest of us. Thanks a lot for pissing in the pool. - echimu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bad stuff no digg --
- Asterisk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just wanted to address those who feel this article is "too generic". First of all, I agree that it is generic. But it's not written to be an end-all-be-all of SEO. These are simple and effective tips. Tips that if you didn't know before hand could really help. Sure, for many tech- and SEO-savvy people it might be old hat (although by looking at the state of most Web sites out there and the fact that it's pretty hard to find anything I could question even that) but for many this stuff is a way that people can help get their sites more traffic without hiring an SEO firm.
Another thing. Don't knock it till you've tired it. ;0) This stuff has worked very well for me... - sstacks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I disagree with the comments... if you know nothing about SEO at all, that's a good intro.
- FrogEngine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0without further information the column can actually hurt over anxious newbies. How did this get so many diggs? ;)
- saxena, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Seo is by far the most powerful marketing strategy. 90% of online businesses depend on search engine marketing, and it has helped companies to rake in millions of dollars every single month.
If you look at word CEO, and SEO you will relealize the importance, and significance of this technology for modern businesses:)

- 5teady, on 03/05/2008, -0/+1Is http://www.exposedseo.com/ any good?
- mossie70, on 04/08/2008, -0/+0This article is very includes some very useful tips about SEO, although as others have stated, these are very general. I feel they are useful for SEO beginners although the key to successfully mastering SEO is to read extensively around the subject, keeping up-to-date with any changes that occur in the industry. Reading the blogs of major SEO practioners (i.e. Matt Cutts of Google) helps immensely.
