- RandomC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Foxit Reader is also quite good. (Windows)
- Gnascher, on 10/12/2007, -8/+20Waaaaaahhhhh I don't like the file format so I'm not gonna look.
Ya baby. - digitalgopher, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11seagate rebates suck. I'm careful about filling those out and sending them in. Seagate has TWICE mailed me back something saying my rebate was invalid.
- DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Seagate / Compusa have been good to me before
- diecastbeatdown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11have you even used a rebate before? i've done countless amount of mail-in-rebates, all came back fine. i've done about 6 seagate ones, all of them worked out great. online and easy rebates are the best, but you just have to know where they are going and who is in charge of mailing out the checks, if it is some crappy company then kiss your money good-bye. otherwise, if you have done exactly as the rebate form says, and you don't receive your money, call the head offices and complain.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13How is it a scam? I'm used rebates before and ended up getting *PAID* $20 to take an 80 GB HD.
You just got to fill out the forms properly and send the right copies of the right things to the right places. If you want the low price - you gotta do the work. - toekneebullard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8They did this one a few weeks ago, it feels really nice to get 200 gigs for 30 bucks.
I think it's been two weeks, and both the e-rebate, and the mail in have been confirmed as good, and they'll ship the check soon...so all in all, great deal, dependable rebates. - modian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Internal/External: Internal

- mephitix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Haha, this guy has obviously not heard of 'deals'. Mail in rebates will save you lots of money.. trust me, i've saved over $500 on just MIRs alone. Besides, CompUSA's are pretty reliable, but not so fast. (Although much better than Buy.com's!)
- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5ACTUALLY, the aim is to get the customers to SEND IN the rebates so the company can sit on their money for a month or two and let it gain interest.
- buss, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I agree, foxit reader is fantastic
- GrinningFool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5So then the key is not forgetting to send in the forms...
- apotropaic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Leave the guy alone... rebates are only for people who can follow instructions!
- hutch113, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6scroll down the page as there are 3 pages of deals for their Midnight Madness deals.
- aaronm67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4any hard drive that you buy will say "Actual speed and capacity may vary". Just look. It's because they can't promise it will be exactly "200gb" or any exact transfer rate.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, I think that 1GB SanDisk USB stick is the best deal on the page. Compare the final price to what Pricegrabber comes up with: http://www.pricegrabber.com/p__SanDisk_Cruzer_Micro_1GB_USB_Flash_Drive,__6788988/search=sandisk+1+GB+usb
- g30ph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The last time I bothered with this rebate crap it took me almost 6 months to get the rebate, which required 2 phone calls telling them I hadn't received it yet, and I got the impression that it was all intentional to weed out the people who weren't willing to keep calling for their rebates. ***** CompUSA.
- modian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4the drive in question: www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=309209&pfp=srch1&tabtype=ts#moreinfo
ATA/100, 8MB cache - manonmars, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4CompUSA is notorious in rebate fullfilment though the offer seems to be genuine .
http://www.compusa.com/specials/mmadness31706/default.asp# - aMillionAndNine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have to fess up to being the loser in the moron tax. I am terrible at remembering to send in rebates. I found an expired rebate in my wallet today. That is why I always go by the actual price and just consider the rebate money as found money when it arrives.
- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3these are great, little 200gb, ata100, 7200rpm, 8mb cache drives. i have two, and i can transfer an entire cd of data from one hdd to the next in less than 10 seconds. they'd probably make great raid drives for a workstation. who needs sata? i can load multiplayer maps in bf2 in less than 60 seconds with an amd athlon xp 3200 , 1gb ddr333, and a nvidia 6600gt. not bad if you ask me. 10k rpm scsi, and even some 10k rpm sata300 drives load bf2 multiplayer maps only twice as fast, but cost up to four times as much.
if you're a little speed whore who likes to drop two grand on a system, then these probably aren't for you. however, if you're the sensible type who likes saving money without sacrificing speed, then these are for you, my friend. - dan4prez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3An e rebate is a rebate you fill out online and you confirm it by giving a bar code on the receipt. Staples has them all the time and they are really fast and convenient.
- lament, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that's why you buy it a few days before the sale, then return on the day of the sale to return it/rebuy it. that way you always get the item. works like a charm every time.
- lament, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2so don't buy it. why complain about it?
- anthra22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like the Brand Name wireless router.
- kenz0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2most externals have surroundings that make them less prone to magnetic damage
- Morr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5In all seriousness.. Mail in rebates are a known manipulative sales tactic and they rely heavily on consumers either not sending in the forms or forgetting they did while the rebate company pretends to lose their forms or outright rejects their rebate for not dotting an I or crossing a T. And here we are helping them advertise and cheat people. Sometimes I just don't understand why people help people hurt other people.
- kohan69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn it, I'd dig it fro 250GB (250gb segates are REALLY quiet)
- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What do you mean it's not a Gajillion bytes?!
- evensong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It's not exactly "aimed" at people. They do give you rebates as long as you send them in. More correctly, it is aimed at human nature to forget, laziness, or a combination of the two. Also known as business. Nothing personal.
Advertising this on digg helped me. I'll be out buying the 200 gig HD on Friday night, and I will send the rebates as soon I get get the drive configured to work. - supersk, on 10/12/2007, -15/+17its a trap!
- oxymoron69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that my friend sounds like it may be a viable business plan...
1. buy rebates from nerds
2. ??????
3. Wait patiently by the mailbox for Profit!!!! - NeMeSiS187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I did this for the presidents day sale... Needless to say it doesn't say limit one person per household until you take home 3 of them and read over the rebate. And then we called CompUSA and asked if we could send in more than one and they said sure as long as you enter different names and addresses. Well... long story short our rebates ended up getting denied and they lied to us. Not fun times so I'd be careful about this.
- DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I was wondering why it was such a good deal - meh I'm hopping on the SATA bandwagon soon.
- Kire56, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Count me in! Ive delt with alot of rebates and I have yet to be let down... never seagate rebates though :-(
- jpesicka2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yesssssssssssssss, it's an IDE, xbox baby, 200gb xbox hdd for me
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2LOL-I like the "BRAND NAME" wireless router but yet they dont name it
- SystemError, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They are betting on not everyone sending in the rebate
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I use rebates all the time, this is an incredible deal, i'm going there tommorow to buy this. thanks man for submitting.
- jersey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just got emails from seagate and chumpusa about earlier rebates (from this same sale a few weeks ago) everything seems to be fine as long as you can read and follow the directions. not taking too long...might have to jump on this new one.
- fridge2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Good deal on the drive. Damn, $99 bux for that XM reciever, they cant even get rid of those radios....
- bryan8m, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is almost the same deal that CompUSA had several weeks ago I believe. I bought the hard drive and it's been fine. I filed the rebates straight away and I think the e-rebate was processed so far.
- sadsac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Seagate drives have been my favorite in recent years, esp with the 5yr warranty.
However, now that Seagate has purchased Maxtor, I'm wondering if they will adopt the quality of Seagate to Maxtor, or, make Seagate suck as bad as Maxtor... Something to ponder. Seagate now owns Maxtor's suckiness and it could seep onto Seagate. - MrUnderbridge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2On the other hand, it's kind of a moron tax. It's sort of like a bet - you're betting that you're better at paperwork than the average idiot. If you are, you get ***** cheaper than other people. If you aren't, you pay more. Me, I'm pretty good at paperwork and remembering to send rebates in, so they work out. But if you can't follow instructions, yeah, you should stay away from rebates.
- nstern2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks like this is instore only. damn I wish we had a CompUSA. But no we get stuck with crappy BestBuy.
- theblackgecko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There isn't a CompUSA in my entire state.
- kenz0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what?
how? - samuraishow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just follow the instructions and you should be fine. If not, yell and you will get your money.
- jpesicka2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1unless it's an instant rebate
