- nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -8/+130Now if this had been a male teacher picking up young girls everyone would be after his head.
I love double-standards. - doherty, on 10/12/2007, -10/+72sysrpl:
Why would you plagiarize Maddox? You shouldn't rip off other peoples' wit when you're not sharp enough to come up with something interesting on your own. It's just rude.

- rastorize, on 10/12/2007, -9/+60She's busted for naming the kid by his jersey number in the blog...and yeah, the unauthorized access. What an idiot. Lucky kid though...where was she when I was in high school?!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+60Because he'd be a 400 pound guy with big black-rimmed glasses and an LotR tattoo.
This chick is a fox. It's like someone jacking your car and leaving you his Ferarri. - rishimaharaj, on 10/12/2007, -4/+51You hit the nail on the head right there. If this was a male teacher having sex with female students, there's no way in hell he'd be out of jail for at least 10 years.
- Drood, on 10/12/2007, -3/+44As a line on an old Drew Carey Show I caught the other night said, after Drew had detailed losing his virginity to his music teacher, Kate says "Wow... That's the sweetest, most romantic story I've ever heard about statutory rape!"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+50I'm sorry, but when dealing with adult on child underage sex there IS a double standard. Deal with it. Every straight 13 year old boyhood dream is to get it on with a hot older woman as proven by the remarks above.
"That kid is lucky. I'd hit it.... Twice."
"that kid was lucky"
"Lucky kid though...where was she when I was in high school?!"
"she looks good, that kid had the right to PIITB"
I agree with these remarks, and the only way in which this kid was scarred was through the attention circus that ensued.
Now if this had been any other combination of adult-child sex (man-girl, man-boy, ugly older woman-boy, woman-girl) I would be pissed. - snoble, on 10/12/2007, -4/+39@benhiler
So you're into the pregnant ones, eh? That's cool. Different strokes for different folks. - JoeWall, on 10/12/2007, -11/+40i would like to go back to high school just for that

- mc1123, on 10/12/2007, -11/+37I'm in high school, and there aren't any teachers that hot.
- mctk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30"id hit it"
And the truth about Digg's demographic comes out. I'm sorry, people, but do you understand how young a 13 year old is? I see them everyday as a teacher. They are little. They are immature. They think they're all grown up, but they're not. They have no idea about who they are. They are scared out of their minds of being singled out.
Is the kid a victim here? Who knows. But this is a serious offense regardless of whether the perpetrator is "OMG SO HOTT!!1!1!1!!" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -17/+42she looks good, that kid had the right to PIITB
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29Not that hot... This must be the dude who is always on Fark saying "I would not hit it. She has pointy knees". :)
- dime, on 10/12/2007, -15/+38Such hypocrites.
Statutory rape is statutory rape. A 13 year old can't consent, regardless of the lame fantasies you people have in your head of "d00d if I was his age I'd hit it 12 times sideways". If a 28 year old man had sex with a 13 year old girl, we'd think he's messed in the head and needs to be in prison.
Same situation here. Don't think with the little head, lamers. - olliholliday, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29it didn't exactly help your grammar did it chimona :)
- hags2k, on 10/12/2007, -8/+30There's a lot of issues with sex, our society, and children. As much as most of us guys think this is something out of a fantasy (and yes, I do think the woman looks rather attractive), I'm sure it's nothing like these fantasies in real life. Even if you have different beliefs than the majority of our society or our laws when it comes to acceptable sexual behavior, there's no dobut that this kind of thing goes against the norms and mores of our society, which can make life very, very difficult for anyone caught up in it, especially a kid.
So even if the woman's behavior wasn't wrong (I'm not qualified to say either way) I wouldn't want to be in that kid's shoes. The stigma, the morally outraged family and friends, the guilt which people in his position almost always feel, and the uncertainty... not fun at all. - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -12/+34Because *every* 13 year old boy wants to ***** his hot teachers. I don't think the same holds true for females. Every male judge knows this, so it's hard to call the boy a "victim", thus the reason for the double standard. Plus look at her? She's is ***** hot. This kid was lucky, lucky, lucky.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29The dream of a lot of 13 year old boys and girls is also to never go to school again and eat nothing but ice cream and candy bars all day and night. But we don't let them do that, either, because as adults it is our job to protect and guide our children rather than just letting them get involved in whatever their not-yet-matured or experienced or worldly naive minds might cause them to *think* they want to get involved in.
So for people to excuse full grown adults of raping children of any sex for any reason because "they wanted it" is sickening and ridiculous. Further, regardless of your gender, I'm sure it is quite a difficult thing to have the trust of adult and child and authority so marred by this sort of selfish, devious malicious misconduct. As an adult, I'm sure I can look back and think "god damn, I'd have loved to hit that when I was 13!" but the truth is, few of us have any clue if, at 13, it is something we could have handled or wanted or would not have been seriously negatively affected by afterward. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+29I've heard plenty of grown women who say that relationships they had with men in their 20s, 30s or even 40s (when the girls were 13, 14, 16) were "the best relationships of my life" and that they "wouldn't have traded the experience for anything".
I think that's kind of sick, but it does point out that there isn't as much of a difference as people think -- the only difference in reaction is by society. We assume that every 13 year old boy's dream is to have the teacher seduce him and that the only possible reaction of a female to an older male could be disgust and fear and repulsion.
I think either way it is pretty sick and ***** up and should be dealt with harshly rather than joked about.
And yes, those girls who are glad to have had the ***** up "relationships" I mention usually seem aware of the fact that they were taken advantage of by their age and maturity (although the typical female always thinks she's more mature than the guys her own age so she NEEDS an older man.. blah blah ick ick ick)... but they still don't seem to care.
It's kind of scary how our society is becoming less and less repulsed by these sorts of things. - Drood, on 10/12/2007, -9/+29The thing is, it's society that has made you think this way. In a lot of cultures, the relationship would be considered perfectly normal. Hell, in some cultures, the child has sex with a parent to initiate them!
It's just our upbringing and culture that determines what we find "icky" when it comes to this sort of thing. - OneEye, on 10/12/2007, -11/+30Another 13 year old kid that's just "livin' the dream"
- benhiler, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24All the hot teacher at my school are pregnant
- bede, on 10/12/2007, -12/+30My eldest son was sexually abused by a women when he was around that age. It led to problems for him for a lot of years. He still has some serious issues.
This kind of thing is not 'lucky' for a kid.. It screws kids up. Really. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23@bede
Better not let anyone around Digg here you say that. They might label you a puritanical homosexual.
Like I've said elsewhere today, I have been around enough people of both sexes to know that there is almost no type of rape or statutory rape -- no matter how "consenting" -- that is wholesome and beneficial and doesn't leave any lasting traces or scars on a person. You are still very much developing into yourself and the world at that age and this sort of thing doesn't help. Exploring with other kids your own age, sure. I guess a lot of us did that. But with a grown up? Um. That definitely crosses a severe line.
And it has nothing to do with "well, the child is only affected because society makes him feel bad about what the adult did to him". If that was the case, then why isn't it good for a girl to be molested by an adult male? Isn't that only "bad" because society makes her feel bad about it? - allthewhile, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Here's a direct link to her archived myspace page.

You're welcome. Nothing interesting. - scotty1024, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Another part of the double standard. She's a sex offender, she willfully broke the terms of her probation and the judge releases her back out to walk the streets looking for #23 on $10,000 bail? That's what I call protecting the community.
I'd say the judge wants to "hit it twice" but I shouldn't say something like that about a judge right? - dime, on 10/12/2007, -12/+26Apparently so, considering your English.
zing! - Xiol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Scrolling on that page in Firefox on Linux is like trying to wade thru concrete.
(2.53GHz P4 / 1024MB RAM / "Gentoo optimised" Firefox) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I thought Debra LaFave was the hot 28 year old teacher who had sex with a 13 year old student?
Oh, I guess there are LOTS of them.
And isn't it interesting how they only serve a few months in prison? You would think after about a half dozen such occurances, they would stop going soft on female child-predators just because they don't have *****. - knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14
I'd hit it. - phaertes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I think the pictures on the screenies in the article are telling about her mental state -- she's 28, but appears to act and dress like a 13-year-old. Ya, she's maaaaaad hot, but she's obviously got some serious issues. As much as that CHILD she deflowered is now the biggest stud in his highschool (or is he still primary?), it's hard to claim that he made any decisions based on informed consent. He's too young to even know what "informed consent" means.
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Holy *****, that thing is hitting 60% on a dual core, and I'm using Opera, a browser know for it's optimization.
Classic idiot blonde. - lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14This man speaks the truth! At 13, being "raped" by someone so much older and in a position of respect, like a teacher, can potentially screw up their future mental state. We are all evaluating this from an older, more mentally matured perspective, assuming we'd have the same mental composure at 13 that we do now, forgetting the weak thinking we all had at 13. It's hard to revert back to a primitive mode of thought.
However, I don't know if your ice cream and candy example is correct. It's more like watching TV and playing computer games or something. - kindrobot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13..for the same reason men do. Power and sexual thrill. They should be handled exactly the same way.
- boza111, on 10/12/2007, -19/+30what kind of crime is that.
The 13 year old guy . Lucky bastard ! ----------But hold up ! they say he is the victim . now whats that about. He wanted it , so surely its not a crime.
Well there is a law that says something about people of higher authority cant have sex with people who they are in charge of because of reasons such as : the teacher might say i will give you an F if you won't have sex with me.
But puttin this aside ,, Damm lucky guy . he wanted it . Nothing wrong with that. - kindrobot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Public perception and the law are two VERY different things. Ask a pot smoker.
- Wiggles2, on 10/12/2007, -15/+25Nah, I'm just not impressed by the standard blonde bimbo look, that's all. For instance, I've always thought Pamela Anderson (sen?) is ugly.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10There are definately double standards. It's not fair. Yes, most 13 year olds would hit it, hells yeah... But she is responsible for saying no, just like a male teacher has the responsibility of saying no to a female student with a crush. I'm sickened by the justice system. If she was a fat ugly teacher, or a male, she'd go away for a long time, for the same crime. Damn shame.
The justice system has the same mindset that keeps woman from joining infantry. - IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14If you search around Digg, you'll found a cached version of her MySpace.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+19statutory rape? more like statutory fun!
- Arkz, on 10/12/2007, -11/+19Ahahahaha... Dirty Bitch...
Shes obviously mentally unstable or/and some kind of dirty sex offender....
and yet... i still would... - lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Also, to use his example, I guess everybody in the US with AIDS should just go and rape a virgin, because that's done in some deep part of the Congo. It MUST be justifiable if it happens somewhere else, right? (Sarcasm.)
- artanis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Dont blame her for the slowdown in browsers, blame myspace's ***** layouts. The site was designed by idiots, for idiots
- koko775, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8
I'll probably get modded down for this, but I'm just disgusted by people who preach that our country was founded for God. Bull. It was founded by the people, for the people, dammit, and we have no obligation to any, ANY religious ethos. We are a nation built on an ethic of tolerance, hard work, and independence. Not Judeo-Christianity. For that matter, the founders were mostly deists, anyway, and following their beliefs, set up a SECULAR base for our country. Get your facts straight.
Last time I checked the Bible, God and Caesar were not the same thing. This country has laws, and its people have religion (or lack thereof). But don't you _dare_ discriminate against society for finding other beliefs or being less "Christian". If you're trying to tell society that it should play by your rules you are being intolerant and hypocritical. Society is developing into different forms, good and bad, and guess what, there are no reins strong enough to hold it back.
What the teacher did may well have been immoral or wrong, by your standards. But your standards aren't what matters. It's the law that matters, and the law acts behalf of all people, not just a subgroup. There are some people who agree with you, fine. There are also people who disagree with you. If you're going to get so preachy, can you at least _try_ to be less dogmatic? - digitalsin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I find MySpace a lot more offensive than under age sex. Man, I thought geocities was bad back in the day.
- republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -11/+18Why can't there be a double standard? Two sexes, two standards. It is like not wanting your daughter to lose her virginity, and praying that your son does.
- anjinash, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14Good lord, that teacher is a fine piece of ass. As a general rule, I dislike double standards... but seriously, a 13 year old boy is perfectly capable of making that kind of decision for himself. If he didn't want to nail his hot teacher, he would not have been able to get physically aroused enough to go through with it. It may seem unsavory to some people, but c'mon .. this is NOT rape. This was NOT a forced situation. like other posters have said already ... I'd be more concerned with the damage that all of the media attention will do to this kid. Nailing this hot teacher will probably go a LONG way towards building this kids confidence and won't hurt his standings with the other guys in his class, that's for sure. But holding him up to ridicule by self ritcheous religious ***** who want to tell everybody what's right and wrong will probably ***** him up for the rest of his life.
- deepsub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"However, the law makes no distinction because justice, as the statue in front of the supreme court shows, is blind."
