- umbriago, on 10/06/2008, -0/+45I'll pass on Sarah Jessica Parker in 3D.
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -1/+42I can see it now...Best Buys full of people buying holographic TVs to watch their favorite 2D shows on. Kind of like people now who run out out to buy HDTVs and have a 480i DVD player or non-HD cable/satellite. "But...it's digital. That's like HD, right?"
/facepalm - NegativeDigg, on 10/07/2008, -0/+15First thing on a holographic tv is gonna be porn. I bet you even the guys who are testing the technology will try it out late at night when all the doors are close and no one is watching..
The technology is already here...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF-PMN3aK8g - infinitus64, on 10/07/2008, -0/+14Ouch, The holograms nose poked out my eye.
- mikbunn, on 10/06/2008, -12/+26*Yawn*
Call me when I can pull a candybar out of the screen. - MrJohnSmith, on 10/07/2008, -0/+11Yes, that means you will soon know what boobs look like in 3 dimensions.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+9Stop investing money in this gimmicky motion-sensor/holovision. Real lightsabers please.
- gfxlonghorn, on 10/07/2008, -1/+9Flying cars already exist, they are just not economical yet, nor does the infrastructure exist for a large network of flying cars to work.
- gfxlonghorn, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8I see all these researchers researching holographic technology, but how the ***** will we film in 3D? We would have to have Cameras at every angle, or some crazy ass 3d filming system yet to be brought into contemplation. Who knows, maybe everyone on camera in the future will be filmed Beowulf style.
- AudioPhil3, on 10/07/2008, -0/+7I believe it will automatically qualify as 4D - as the image will not be a static shape, but a moving picture changing with time.
- SDM187, on 10/07/2008, -0/+7oh sure and next you'll tell us that they've developed a.... "horseless sleigh."
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5Where's my jetpack.
- junkwheel, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5Picture this: You're sat down watching Weapons Of Ass Destruction 3, or Jenna Haze Darkside, when a guy turns around and hits you with his dick. WHAT.
- eaglegoalie94, on 10/07/2008, -2/+7Bring on the porn
- hillaryj, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4i bet we get this before they legalize marijuana.
- bullhead2007, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4I'll get excited when I have a holodeck.
- Frozo, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4Well, I'll dig you up, Mike Teevee.
- itismejs, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4Peyghambarian is also optimistic that the technology could reach the market within five to ten years. Peyghambarian is also optimistic that the technology could reach the market within five to ten years.
- HarryRag, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4So I hear that Peyghambarian is also optimistic that the technology could reach the market within five to ten years.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4That's called Wonkavision and it was invented in the 60s.
- langdonalger, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4less so for video games, because in 3d video games now all surfaces are being processed even if they're not displayed. the wall behind your character is still there, you're just seeing your guy in front of it.
in live action, a camera records what it sees and there is no data to fill in for what's unseen. - inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Can't wait for smello toucho vision...
I won't need a relationship after that! I will be free~! Yes~! I can live in shed with a potbelly stove and no walls. Awesome! - Aensland, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3The pornography, it will be incredible.
- nwolf090, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3oh noes, hes the riddler!!!
- seltaeb4, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Holographic TV?
"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope." - langdonalger, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3yeah cause why watch porn when you have those things
- Jimbozu, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2I'm a little bit confused about what this technology actually is. What is the viewing angle of this? Do you have to be looking at the screen to be able to see the 3D picture or is it a 3D picture that's actually projected into the space in front of the screen?
- danwallace, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2There's a reason we don't have signatures at Digg.
- lilhelper, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2cool!
Oh its going to happen.
Things like this do take time though.
my bets are on the japanese.
They aren't constantly doubting. - FreDre, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2That Philips WOWvx is not holographic.
It's more like 2D with depth.
I saw one of these and they still need a lot of work (the viewing angles are very limited) - inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2First thing im gonna do is play Ocarina of Time!
- whyisntcakesin, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2This just in! Peyghambarian is also optimistic that the technology could reach the market within five to ten years.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Believe it or not, the porn industry has been a leader in making this a reality.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2It'll only fly if the porn industry backs it.
- dsmx, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2I'm sure a lot of people will be "excited" when the holodeck arrives.
- itsabrandnewday, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2...and when this happens, i will get a job as a fireman. props to you, Ray Bradbury.
- drmangrum, on 10/07/2008, -1/+3Honestly, how many peoples first thought was porn?
- randomstupid, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2In other news : Something that has been speculated for decades may become real at some stage in the future .
- tekproxy, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Later, after that, it goes on to say that peyghambarian is also optimistic that the technology could reach the market within five to ten years.
- chuckDontSurf, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Call me when the holodeck's ready so that I can move in permanently.
- Vich, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2It's up there, in a million pieces!
- Chaotix, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2The porn industry is probably the only thing not affected by the economy. They'll invest i'm sure.
- antigravit42, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1new meme!!
- onelikeseabass, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Here: http://www.martinjetpack.com/the-martin-jetpack.as ...
First deliveries scheduled for 2009... - inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1I'll piss on Sarah Jessica Parker in 3d
- gfxlonghorn, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2The data throughput that would require is ridiculous. Disregarding that part, getting a full color version of that laser scan would be ridiculously hard I would think, especially in real time. For the current technology, the only practical use for these screens would be gaming and other non live motion broadcasts.
As much as I would love the idea of watching a football game in 3d, it seems completely out of the picture for at least the next 20-30+ years. - inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Hey, that's not a very nice thing to say. :[
- bullhead2007, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Sexy time!
- vickyaza, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Not getting an HD till the holographic comes out. Meanwhile I'll be happy with my black and white screen.
