- decile, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9My english teacher made a blog for our class and one of the students posted the invite link on YTMND. Moments later our blog became a collection of the most disgusting images from the internet.
- antdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6URL?
- Bricks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4This explains SO many arguments I've seen on msg boards.
In all seriousness.. heres to hoping this teacher doesn't run into the same popup problems that Julie Amero did. - RST1123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2My teacher this semester ACG 2031 Financial Accounting is trying to get the class to download Second Life, Twitter, and Meebo.
- ZephyrNinety, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Oh they got that new-fangled internet in schools now? Well I'll be!
- hierophantus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Teachers are using computers? I refuse to believe it. This is some brand-new, mind-blowing, cutting-edge stuff, people. In related news, I have just been unfrozen from cryogenic storage since 1985 (do these techno-savvy teachers know about Oregon Trail yet?).
- NoTiG, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Captain Jack made it cool. Dugg down
- FrozenGonad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What is this? A ***** ad for some ***** tutoring website?? WTF?
- mixmastabob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Did anyone else read the headline as:
"Savvy teachers use Net to ENRAGE students" - hiPpymIck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2this blog is for free stuff..
http://www.stingyscholar.blogspot.com/ - secleinteer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You can't download Twitter or Meebo - they're web services.
- junk2006, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is stupid I've never heard of tutoring.com and it sounds stupid. All my teachers throughout school have used one of 3 things lyryx, first class, and webct.
- smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1wtf? what makes the word "savvy" gay? and what kind of loser assigns sexual orientations to random words? i think that if you get this worked up over the purported sexuality of a common word, you probably have some personal issues--probably dealing with your own sexuality. go get shrink or something, and stop trolling on digg.
- xeno439, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They just need to watch out for porn pop-ups. It's very dangerous to surf the net in class nowadays.
- octophobic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1After all those teacher/student sex stories I thought that this might have been related somehow.
- pseudononymist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Why is Reuters publishing this crap? It's a press release, not an article. Totally useless.
- MoFoKeR, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1if your student needs extra tutoring it doesnt make him a bad student...but you a bad teacher
and yes this article was just an ad for 35 dollar tutors - artliquide, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This is new? This is standard now.
- ukthom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0wow...so outdated it makes me giddy inside (as a teacher m'self).
- Dan050, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Maybe in the USA but try coming to the UK and using an interactive whiteboard, the teachers just write on them and then they never work again!
- raskalz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Captaij Jack is a not a real person u nerd
- palmtree3000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yes there is. Nuclear war, just as an example. There are many others.
- Thegnofbreland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I really don't see how tutors over the Internet can help that much. It seems like the computers act more as an obstacle than a tool to help students.
- annenk38, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Savvy teachers actually know, or at least make an effort to be proficient in the subject they are teaching.
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2This explains nothing and the title and description feel very misleading even though they came from the article.
It's a writeup for www.tutor.com which is an instant messaging service (or similar) for connecting students with tutors. The end. The education system didn't change, neither did the teachers, some smart people just copied the concept of a chatroom and stuck a pricetag on it and a certified somebody in it. - Urusai, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Anything to distract students from actually having to learn...
- thestevo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1As if teacher-student relations haven't been a big enough problem! Now they're so lazy they won't even propose in person to engage their students? I tell ya...
- raskalz, on 10/10/2007, -12/+4I HATE word "savvy" it is such a gay word!!! there is nothing worse then the word "savvy"!!!!!
