- killadingo, on 02/20/2008, -0/+30Yeah as I posted in that article itself, I hope Google finally releases a Contacts API so that my smartphone can sync with my Google gmail contacts. Who wants to manage multiple contact lists???
- doyoulikeworms, on 02/20/2008, -1/+29Is it perpetually in beta release? ;)
- postitnote, on 02/20/2008, -2/+28Random comma in the, middle of a sentence.
- trimmedinred, on 02/20/2008, -1/+15i think i will hold out for a touchscreen android, but this is certainly exciting news
- ctrlfreak13, on 02/20/2008, -0/+12Hopefully it won't be a carrier-exclusive release, I want to be able to actually buy and use the phone without having to switch providers or dealing with having a bricked phone every few weeks because it was unlocked.
- deviouskoopa, on 02/20/2008, -1/+9I for one welcome our...
I mean... Samsung? Kickass, finally! - squirrel83, on 02/20/2008, -3/+10sweeet
- maveric101, on 02/20/2008, -1/+7pretty exciting, though i was hoping for a sweeter phone (currently eying the EXPERIA X1).
as to ejderha's comment - don't rank people down for wanting iPhone destroyer/competitor. competition can only be good for the consumer, leading to better devices and lower prices. the iPhone set a high standard. it should be every major manufacturer's goal to best it. - encrypter, on 02/20/2008, -0/+5the gPhone lives!
- ejderha, on 02/20/2008, -2/+7great news, I hope there will be many more android phones around, some decent kick to iPhone
- apoc06, on 02/20/2008, -0/+4hmmm, maybe im getting lazy in my old age, but your idea for google toothpaste has potential
- lex0nyc, on 02/20/2008, -0/+4Finally, an un-evil phone!
What do mean I have to pick a carrier?
Damn, foiled again. - D3koy, on 02/20/2008, -0/+4It's not as slick looking as I hoped it would...I'm sure it will be greatly improved upon though...
- halohunter, on 02/20/2008, -0/+4ooo that hits the G spot. :P
- iofthestorm, on 02/20/2008, -0/+3Judging,from the lack of a,space, I think,he missed the spacebar.
- truspect0r, on 02/20/2008, -3/+6Google branded phones? hmm
- mathmanjeffy, on 02/20/2008, -0/+3Will you masturbate me into a tornado?
- sleepwalkers, on 02/20/2008, -0/+3Random-dash in the middle of two words, too.
- vuke69, on 02/20/2008, -0/+3You're trying too hard.
- bunkka, on 02/20/2008, -0/+2okay, i'll wait till I see the phone
- BIGJHUB, on 02/20/2008, -0/+2Yay for speculation.
- Theli, on 02/20/2008, -2/+4So there will be a Google-phone after all?
- drakethegreat, on 02/20/2008, -0/+2Seems like they already thought of that and your christmas came early:
http://code.google.com/android/reference/android/p ... - Justice101, on 02/20/2008, -0/+2I'd like an Xperia X1 with Android...phone hackers asssemble! :)
- superkendall, on 02/20/2008, -1/+3I am really looking forward to the openness the Android phones offer, but they compete against every other phone but the iPhone. Android has to keep the UI very generic to accommodate many devices so they just can't get the refinement or ease of use the iPhone offers. But what they can offer is a well-built platform that people will also be able to extend, on much cheaper phones. Even wit the iPhone SDK coming out shortly Android has the potential to take over the lower end of the market in terms of phone OS.
- triskele, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Samsung Blackjack body, BlackBerry keys, Nokia inspired nav buttons, GTK style status bar.... I call it the Frankenstein phone.
- belzoradon, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1which is exactly why i dont do anything technological till i can see atleast a photo of the unit
- inactive, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Exactly, except for its openness it doesn't bring too much to the table right now. I particularly prefer the Nokia N95 or the Sony Ericsson W series but the iPhone is considerably cheaper than those right now (399 8GB model). I might end up picking up an iPhone after all, the battery life while listening music is the only thing that its keeping me from bying one right now, can someone enlighten me about that issue?
- inactive, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Buried for appalling use of punctuation in the title.
- VodkanLemons, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1If Android was crack, I'd be a crackhead
- iofthestorm, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1They're making the OS, you'd think they'd make some apps for it, no?
- jsaya, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Yes, go ahead and add some more WTF to this comment.
- LewisBreaker, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1My only issue is that google's logo wont look good a phone, there are too many colours!
- iofthestorm, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Do you see that stylus? Generally non-touchscreen phones don't come with styli. Although that's probably just a mockup, I would bet that at least one of the two will be touchscreen since that seems to be the wave of the future these days.
- crazzy88ss, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Those are BlackJack 1 keys... which is made by Samsung. :/
- killadingo, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Doesn't seem to sync back to Google.
- vuke69, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Wax poetic how that is played out, and therefore an epic fail (which itself is played out; causing an infinite recursion, and forcing space-time to collapse in on itself in a noble last ditch effort to prevent any more stupid digg posts)
- igob8a, on 02/21/2008, -0/+1Well being Samsung,
3G, removable battery, GPS, 2MP+ camera with video, DMB...
And this really cool new technology called buttons
And being Google,
Open source, google programs/services, google developers etc - sn0wmis3r, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Android already has touchscreen support, its samsung who needs to implement it better
- killadingo, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1http://code.google.com/android/reference/android/p ...
I meant an API for the currently existing contacts within our gmail. I believe the link you posted is an API for Android's contacts. Currently there is no good way to sync our Gmail contacts to an external (i.e. even Android's contacts) contact list. - ThankTheCheese, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Competition is good for everyone. Hopefully the threat of a gPhone will light a fire under apple have make them release iPhones in all the countries that don't have it at the moment.
- JustGrant, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Shopped
- tomzer1, on 02/21/2008, -0/+1A stylus? These days? Really? Well, have fun with that.
- inactive, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Twice,-twice.
- MacParrot, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1If I mark your words, I won't be able to see them very well
- sgyoung, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1COOL IPHONE KILLER! jk, it sucks!
- PaulNHS, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1I want this phone
- inactive, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1GREAT ! Another palm pilot, I mean, google pilot, I mean google phone!
And it's sooo much better because it has Google on it, they told me so ! - troydoogle7, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1plaxo.com
- oshu, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1First, the phone pictured is not the phone described. The picture is just a mock up made for the article. So those of you who are saying it looks like crap, clue in, that isn't what it is going to look like.
Second, you can bet that if Verizon offers a gPhone, they will cripple the hell out of it like they always do to cool phones. I hate you Verizon! -
