- bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I must say I laughed at this:
Then you think of a concept
* Think of an old idea, add tagging and social network = flickr
* Take a site like Digg or YouTube and make another one
* Put two apps together: Digg plus Flickr = Dickr
I say we should make a photo section nicknamed Dickr. - monergism, on 10/12/2007, -9/+22Obscure and stupid. Buried.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Step 1: create a half assed blog post from a linkfarm like endgadget, spam it to get it on digg, continue creating empty content. wash, rinse, repeat.
- limxdul, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14say, didn't I meet you at the techcrunch party?
- weters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The one slide was completely copied off of http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/web-2.0-design-style-guide.cfm
No credit given. Plagiarism? According to my school's policy on academic integrity, that's definitely plagiarism. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4If you are at a party, you will look like an idiot if you DO "speak the speak" of Web 2.0.
- popothebright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Let's see, Slashdot is probably the shining example of aggregated content and user moderation.
And its been around since, oh, right, Web 1.0 days... - ChuyMatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And that is why this is funny. It is making fun of people's misconceptions about what it is. People TALK about Web2.0 but have no clue!
Relax and enjoy the jabs at people who jump on the bandwagon. - vagarach, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They mean a web2.0 party.....yikes.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just when you thought this ***** was subsiding. Did a whole new generation of morons just sign up or something?
So let's go over this again for the noobs: THERE IS NO "WEB 2.0". - vmars, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Web 2.0 - all the comments at the bottom of a page get buried. Watch!
- NeoRicen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"The greater internet ***** theory = normal person + anonymity + audience = *****"
Perfect description of Digg. - tofuComputer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@monargism said: "Obscure and stupid. Buried."
Bet you didn't know that one of the presenters is an accepted top expert in the field of CSS development, did you?
This was good stuff comically presented by people who really know what they are talking about. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Texas sucks. Austin's decent, but it's still in Texas and instead of just being a bunch of arrogant douchebag cowboys, they're arrogant douchebag hippie-wannabes. "You ain't got no horns, boy."
For a real music festival, the real party's in Indio, California: Coachella. Or Bonnaroo in Tennessee. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"just hating on people who don't really know what Web 2.0 is."
Then start hating on yourself, because you apparently don't know what "Web 2.0" is: NONEXISTENT *****. - towca, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Wow, I don't think I've ever been to a gathering where people discuss Web2.0 in ways where ones social status becomes jeopardized for not participating properly. That "party" must be lamer than this blogpost.
buried + - mjmartin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone know where to find a full video of this?
- meshman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Web 2.0 is about users collectively making a website what it is."
"The Web" is not content. It's a delivery platform for that content. So if someone is going to take it upon themselves to declare Web 2.0, it's assumed (by people that do know what they're talking about) that this is a change in the delivery platform. It has absolutely nothing to do with delivery. Therefore, the term Web 2.0 is fully inaccurate. I understand this concept of collective user input but calling it Web 2.0 is the worst thing we could do. When some new standard for the web is introduced, there are RFC's and reviews by independent committees. There's been none of that. Just O'Reilly arrogantly declaring that Web 2.0 exists. That's nice. And it's all wrong. Find another term. - bonesbrigade, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Two questions from this picture- http://www.flickr.com/photos/allen074/416672270/ :
Do they mean boot camp or is there a basecamp as well? what is basecamp?
Also, did they totally ***** up Strong Bad when they said "Strong sad" or is this another inside joke? - tomarocco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"academic integrity" only applies in school. In the real grown-up world there is such a thing as Fair Use. Didn't they teach you that in school?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I've made it to ACL multiple years and have watched the show even longer. And 6th Street is nice to get drunk on. It's like a clean Bourbon Street.
- durandal2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.basecamphq.com/
- bonesbrigade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks.
- dafragsta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've lived in Austin for going on 5 years now and never made it out to SXSW. One of these years, I'll be liberated from a life of working for the man to satisfy financial obligations and dammit, then I'll bask in all that SXSW has to offer. I really want to see the interactive and film events almost as much, if not more than the music events. There are better music acts at ACLFest and that's bottled up into a weekend.
- tomarocco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Here's back at 'cha.
- TechnoPops, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Wow, so many Web 2.0 haters here, which is odd considering you're ON a Web 2.0 site.
- tomarocco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1willynilly...that's just plain rude...like telling some little kid there ain't no Santa Claus. It's true...but it's still rude. Well, I guess smackifilia needs to grow up someday...
- dafragsta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Or one of the many OTHER music events in Austin. Why can Austin not have real hippies? Does California have a patent on them? (I mean, we know they have the arrogant douchebag market cornered) I'd like to think our hippies are a little more coherent, so that's a trade of generalizations.
- nify, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Perfect post! Things like this happen everywhere.
- MrUnderbridge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Andy and Jeremy ROCKED THE HOUSE. Panel discusses how to bluff your way through Web 2.0 at a party or conference."
I'm not sure which is sadder - the notion that one would need to bluff your way through something that doesn't exist, or that you'd want to talk about "teh Web 2.0" at a party. Doesn't sound like the kind of party I'd want to go to. The kind of parties I used to hit in collete, Andy and Jeremy would get tossed through a window when they started with the Web 2.0 *****. - nowherelad, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Wow... how lame. What's so hard to understand about aggregating user created content? Buried.
- wadexyz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0These Web 2.0 guys make Kenny Banya's routines look slick. "Ovaltine? Shouldn't it be called Roundtine..."
- phenom2k7, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Haha, that was fantastic.
- hugginsd, on 10/12/2007, -13/+10Great, more f***ing Web 2.0 *****.
Buried. - kingkilr, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4Web 2.0 is so last year, my company is revamping our systems of web 2.1.3 :)
- smackifilia, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Not a Web 2.0 hater here, just hating on people who don't really know what Web 2.0 is. I personally love Web 2.0, especially Digg, but I also know that it has nothing to do with the look of a website. Yes, I took one glance at the post and got immediately pissed not realizing it was a joke, so sorry for that. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm still pissed at what these guys are making fun of. And popothebright, Web 2.0 or 1.0 doesn't have anything to do with time periods whatsoever aside from the obvious fact that 1.0 had to come first, but no-one stuck a date on the time that Web 2.0 hit shelves or anything.
- nevesis, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6If you're not at SXSW, you're missing out.
If you are -- be sure to stay for the music festival. :) - jackman3, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Just wait till Web 3.0.
- smackifilia, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Hey guess what MORONS, Web 2.0 doesnt have a damn thing to do with the look of a website. I dont know what tard took that half-assed idea and started running with it, but i'm getting tired of seeing people talk about Web 2.0 as a look. Take a look at the O'Reilly website for Web 2.0 if you want to know what it is. http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/oreilly/tim/news/2005/09/30/what-is-web-20.html?page=3 Web 2.0 is about users collectively making a website what it is. The use of users to drive the content of your webpage. BURIED
